  1. He’s going to be linked to every job until he decides to take one. I don’t think he’ll go to the Jets. Toxic franchise, bad owner, no future QB, picking in the middle of the pack in a bad draft class.
  2. RIP Paws. 😔 RPReplay_Final1728560066.MP4
  3. It's the anti-Jeremy Bonderman. I remember Bonderman would always give up 1-3 runs in the first inning or two, then settle down into shutdown stuff and finish with a great line like 7.0 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 6 Ks, 2 BBs. He wouldn't work well in the pitching chaos model. Speaking of Bonderman, I hear he's going to work on his changeup this offseason.
  4. Don’t rule changes have to be approved by owners? Pitching chaos seems like something cheap owners would love and rich owners would be indifferent about. In order to do what the Tigers did today, you have to have six pitchers who can shut out a team. And some will probably be called upon again tomorrow. Matchups or not, that’s not some easy feat that just any team’s farm system can just snap their fingers and accomplish. Most teams can’t do that, and I tend to agree that it’s unlikely to be sustainable long term. And if you’re the Yankees, you can always just throw hundreds of millions for whatever version of chaos you want, and still lose to the Royals in the ALDS. I agree that it’s something that the MLBPA would quietly advocate for changing, for the same reasons Boras is cursing AJ Hinch. I don’t really see why Manfred and the owners would rush to “fix” it though.
  5. I've been spending the last hour running analytics. After double and triple checking my math, I can confidently predict that if the Tigers pitching staff does not give up another run for the rest of the playoffs, they will win the World Series.
  6. 20 straight scoreless for the Gritty Tigs pitching staff!
  7. Frame everything Jake, ya never know
  8. New strategy: Record three outs before the opposing team scores three runs. Implement.
  9. Keith may take off on one here if they like the look.
  10. Start pulling out some cords so you can watch the game without all that noise in the background. I left work 30 minutes early to make it to one of the few Detroit bars in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area.... and I'm pleased to say I'm not the only Tigers fan here.
  11. Jake Rogers' mustache remains majestic. I'll keep an eye on it.... just for you of course....
  12. Fun umpiring fact: umpires for the World Series are usually chosen from the ALDS/NLDS crews, and new umpires are brought in to work the ALCS/NLCS. So for all the bad we are seeing, they're going to choose like eight of them to work the World Series.
  13. That's my catcher and DON'T YOU FORGET IT
  14. Exhibits A and B as to why they haven't implemented an automated strike zone at the MLB level. Exhibit C would be the report card they give to De Jesus, which is going to be neither of these. Which one is right all just depends on your margin of error and what you're okay with being called and not. These systems are imperfect.
  15. Bad teams with stupid owners do stupid things that keep them bad. The Browns, Jets, Panthers, Jaguars, Bengals, Raiders, and Titans all qualify. They might accidentally catch lightning in a bottle once a decade, but they’ll never have sustained success until their owner dies, is replaced by his elderly wife who always has sunglasses on, and then the wife passes it on to the daughter named Sheila who actually puts her best foot forward in fixing the losing culture.
  16. Rodgers and all his little friends are good as gone if the Jets don’t make the playoffs. And the Jets will be back to the drawing board.
  17. Most guys don’t get to choose. There are only 32 jobs, only around 5 are open any given cycle, and usually those five coincide with bad owners who have a rotating cast at the head coach position. If you’re Ben Johnson though, you can afford to be picky. If I were him, I wouldn’t take a job from most of those owners you listed. Certainly not Tepper, Johnson, Jones, Davis, or Haslem. Mike Brown might be an exception because he’s got Joe Burrow. I could see him going to Philly if the Eagles can Sirianni.
