I think Marvin Jones was in response to losing out on DJ Chark. I don’t think there is a dire need to replace Jameson for six games, unless we suffer another injury at the position. We can’t stand to start 1-6 again, and that happened because of how depleted this team was after the Vikings game.

It’s definitely possible that a week from today I will be less emotional about it and more in favor of the suspension, but right now I’m both annoyed at the suspension and annoyed at Jamo for making a stupid and immature decision. I wouldn’t be as emotional if it were DJ Moore, and I’d probably be mocking them some, but I still think I would think it’s kind of dumb.

That’s just it though. Whether it’s me or him or you, I don’t really care what he’s doing on his personal time if it’s not impacting the integrity of the game.

Should be a new team rule from Sheila, no gambling period for any employees from the concession stand to the coaches to the pilot. I bet if all franchises followed suit the NFL would suddenly relax their rules.

I’ve worked for places that involved extensive travel. I was on the road for four months without interruption. When I was “off” (I.e., in the hotel… the hotel bar….. a newly made friend’s home…..) I was not held to any standards outside those that I would be held to if I was in my own bed. I still couldn’t commit crimes obviously, or trash the hotel room, but this policy seems to go above and beyond that, to dictating irrelevant factors in that time. All the same, Jamo needs to know better, and he needs to do better.

They’ll be alright. I’m disappointed in Jameson, but it’s a stupid mistake. Everyone else was largely insignificant. I hope Jameson comes out in week seven with a huge chip on his shoulder.

What is “on the job” though? They’re allowed to drink in many of the circumstances where any form of gambling is prohibited. For instance, the team hotel and plane. If six games is a prescribed penalty within the policy, it is what it is. Jameson needs to know better and it’s inexcusable. If it’s Goodell and his cronies waving their magic wand and dictating a number though, I would expect an appeal.

Six games seems a bit much for a first-time offense on something that would be legal if done a couple hundred yards from wherever he was sitting.

I want to know what happened. Particularly with Jamo. Moore and Cephus could have been released yesterday and I wouldn’t have cared. Jameson though, we need. What led to him getting a slap on the wrist and others indefinitely?

Sure, Fox may be more a retirement plan and Patricia may be more him seeking to attach himself to a good team/defense in the hopes that he can become a DC again for some stupid franchise. In any event, I don't think either has any sort of decision-making role.

I don’t think that role (for either Fox or Patricia) is anything more than a respectful nod to experience, a relatively small pay check, and allowing them a voice in a room. Extraordinarily insignificant in the grand scheme of things and not worth thinking too much into.

If we are staking guarantees, I’m ready to guarantee that Jalen Carter will not be the Lions pick at #6.

He’s just a member of good ole boys club. Guaranteed a BS analyst or senior assistant job no matter the ineptitude.

I think if Holmes and Co. believe that the standard set by Goff in his final ten games of 2022 is what can be expected moving forward, they won’t even entertain an early QB in this draft. If they believe that he may have played a little (or a lot) above and beyond his skill set though, they will certainly continue to explore all options for a successor. I lean a little towards the latter with Goff, though I certainly hope the former is the case. I don’t think he is simply beyond replacement but I also don’t think we need to rush to find someone else.

Stroud went 0-2 against Michigan, which means he will break the trend of OSU QBs in the NFL. 😉

Do people here have significant criticisms of Stroud’s game/tape? I get the argument for not taking him that “Goff is here and Goff is great”. If that’s your stance I don’t have an argument. But if the top five goes Young/Wilson/Anderson/Richardson/Carter (which wouldn’t be the craziest thing if reports are to be believed), I think there is a strong case to be made for taking Stroud. I see a really good prospect in Stroud. I think a lot of his tape makes him appear limited, but that it’s a product of playing at Ohio State, where they can coast through 11 games by just not making mistakes. I feel like he was coached to stand tall in the pocket, make his passes, and to fold under pressure rather than making the play with his legs, because the offense could easily withstand a few minus plays, and would only lose if they got into significant turnover trouble… when the leash was taken off against Georgia, we saw a whole new prospect. Certainly one game doesn’t make the prospect, but it says something that he went up against the National Champions and would have won if a kick was made. It’s not every day that arguably the top QB prospect of a draft falls into your lap. I see a guy with the ceiling of Aaron Rodgers (minus the psychedelics) and a floor of Goff. I’m curious if others don’t see the same prospect I see though.

RE Ben Johnson, I don't doubt that he is a very good OC, but I do wonder how much of the offensive efficiency and productivity was thanks to MCDC.

If they get Williams yes. I think Stroud is better than Maye or Penix. They're the Texans though. If they pass on Stroud they'll probably take Levis at 12 and think they big-brained it, until they finish 4-13, draft 5th, and miss out on both Williams and Maye.

If the Texans seriously pass on Stroud at #2, I don’t see a way that doesn’t become a Trubisky esque punchline for years to come. If by some freak chance he’s there at #6, I think you have to seriously consider taking him.

Watch all the Levi uncertainty have been a smoke screen and he’s going to go out and play like a 2nd round pick this year.

I thought he had one more, but that’s right - he was a 2nd round pick. For the sake of the Lions, I hope he sucks.
