  1. Sure, Fox may be more a retirement plan and Patricia may be more him seeking to attach himself to a good team/defense in the hopes that he can become a DC again for some stupid franchise. In any event, I don't think either has any sort of decision-making role.
  2. I don’t think that role (for either Fox or Patricia) is anything more than a respectful nod to experience, a relatively small pay check, and allowing them a voice in a room. Extraordinarily insignificant in the grand scheme of things and not worth thinking too much into.
  3. If we are staking guarantees, I’m ready to guarantee that Jalen Carter will not be the Lions pick at #6.
  4. He’s just a member of good ole boys club. Guaranteed a BS analyst or senior assistant job no matter the ineptitude.
  5. I think if Holmes and Co. believe that the standard set by Goff in his final ten games of 2022 is what can be expected moving forward, they won’t even entertain an early QB in this draft. If they believe that he may have played a little (or a lot) above and beyond his skill set though, they will certainly continue to explore all options for a successor. I lean a little towards the latter with Goff, though I certainly hope the former is the case. I don’t think he is simply beyond replacement but I also don’t think we need to rush to find someone else.
  6. Stroud went 0-2 against Michigan, which means he will break the trend of OSU QBs in the NFL. 😉
  7. Do people here have significant criticisms of Stroud’s game/tape? I get the argument for not taking him that “Goff is here and Goff is great”. If that’s your stance I don’t have an argument. But if the top five goes Young/Wilson/Anderson/Richardson/Carter (which wouldn’t be the craziest thing if reports are to be believed), I think there is a strong case to be made for taking Stroud. I see a really good prospect in Stroud. I think a lot of his tape makes him appear limited, but that it’s a product of playing at Ohio State, where they can coast through 11 games by just not making mistakes. I feel like he was coached to stand tall in the pocket, make his passes, and to fold under pressure rather than making the play with his legs, because the offense could easily withstand a few minus plays, and would only lose if they got into significant turnover trouble… when the leash was taken off against Georgia, we saw a whole new prospect. Certainly one game doesn’t make the prospect, but it says something that he went up against the National Champions and would have won if a kick was made. It’s not every day that arguably the top QB prospect of a draft falls into your lap. I see a guy with the ceiling of Aaron Rodgers (minus the psychedelics) and a floor of Goff. I’m curious if others don’t see the same prospect I see though.
  8. Good morning to everyone except Toronto.
  9. RE Ben Johnson, I don't doubt that he is a very good OC, but I do wonder how much of the offensive efficiency and productivity was thanks to MCDC.
  10. If they get Williams yes. I think Stroud is better than Maye or Penix. They're the Texans though. If they pass on Stroud they'll probably take Levis at 12 and think they big-brained it, until they finish 4-13, draft 5th, and miss out on both Williams and Maye.
  11. If the Texans seriously pass on Stroud at #2, I don’t see a way that doesn’t become a Trubisky esque punchline for years to come. If by some freak chance he’s there at #6, I think you have to seriously consider taking him.
  12. Watch all the Levi uncertainty have been a smoke screen and he’s going to go out and play like a 2nd round pick this year.
  13. I thought he had one more, but that’s right - he was a 2nd round pick. For the sake of the Lions, I hope he sucks.
  14. I’m not sure I would have done that with Hurts yet. I get it, because the price was only going to go up. But he had the most talented roster in the NFC last season. Can he lead a less talented team to the same destination?
  15. This. I think it would be overthinking things to take Wilson over Anderson. Stare at numbers long enough and they'll tell you anything you want. Anderson's tape speaks for itself. I also think it would be very silly for any team to take Carter over Anderson, considering most considered Anderson a better prospect even before Carter's numerous issues arose.
  16. I haven’t made a Charlie Campbell post in at least a week or so, soooo… The reason I like his mocks and analysis is because while it flies under many radars, but is notoriously accurate at the end of the day. Last draft, his last mock went something like 9/9 to start, which is pretty rare, as much as these are made. He put out his updated mock today. It goes Young/Stroud/Wilson/Richardson/Carter to start, with the Lions landing Anderson. In his full six-round mock, the Lions end up with Will Anderson (EDGE, Alabama), Bijan Robinson (RB, Texas), Sam LaPorta (TE, Iowa), Jack Campbell (LB, Iowa), Cam Mitchell (DB, Northwestern), Riley Moss (CB, Iowa), Dorian Thompson-Robinson (QB, UCLA), Chandler Zavala (OG, NC State), and Jordan McFadden (OG, Clemson). For me, the only way that could get any better would be if we landed Washington instead of LaPorta, but otherwise that’d be a damn near perfect outcome.
  17. This is pretty much how it is done. The rules say that it's the home team until lineup cards are exchanged, but in practicality it's the home team along with MLB, in some amount of consultation with the visiting team. Likewise with umpires. They're not making decisions to postpone (after cards are exchanged) in a vacuum.
  18. If I thought Carter was the next Suh or Donald, I might be able to look past the character issues. I think his talent and ceiling is being overstated in a draft class that is largely missing that high end talent. I would be shocked if the Lions took him. I’m hoping the Seahawks take him at 5, because I don’t think he’s being considered at 6.
  19. I get it from their perspective, in buying low on a player who at one time had immense potential. But that was a lot of time and one Achilles ago.
  20. I think the general national reaction to the Okudah trade doesn’t recognize just how poorly he played down the stretch. He had stretches where he looked okay, but he also got absolutely burned over the top on some plays where he was completely lost.
  21. If the Lions are interested in moving up, I would definitely try to do it before the night of the draft. Between the Tepper-led Panthers and the revolving door in Houston, it’s far from a given that Stroud and Young go 1 and 2. And if either are there at 3, the price will go up.
  22. This combined with their infatuation for Anzalone.
  23. Levi played in 15 games in 2021... If you want to say he has been productive in zero games for the Detroit Lions, I'll agree with you.
  24. Just checked. Googling “Lions [opponent team] stream online free” remains free.
