I could see him bailing from the Jacksonville dumpster fire as soon as his rookie contract is up.

If Harbaugh leaves............then who?

Maybe they just say screw it and give Jay Harbaugh the job. -

I think they’d take the easy way out and promote from within. Cross their fingers and hope it’s the system not the man. -
ESPN appeared to catch Shad Khan napping in his box. Past his bedtime apparently.

I don’t think Doug Pederson is that great. Captured lightning with that Super Bowl team and has been mediocre ever since.

Give me Titans +6.5 would rather play them and Joshua Dobbs in the Super Bowl….

The Dolphins would be incredibly stupid to fire Mike McDaniel, but I agree that if they do they will hire Harbaugh the next day (and probably violate the Rooney Rule).

Maybe against Seattle this year when they killed a play for a "clock malfunction" without blowing the whistle and took a Lions defensive stop off of the board? Naturally immediately followed up by a Seattle TD (that could be the difference in making the playoffs or not). That's the only time I remember the Ford Field crowd going ape shit on the officials this year.

Officiating is a piece. So is "friendly confines", especially in football and baseball. The Lions success at home this year is probably in part thanks to the fans, but also being in a dome with a team and QB that does better inside. In baseball, your outfielders learn the ins and outs of that field like the back of their hand over 81 games. To a lesser degree, your pitchers know what they can get away with up in the zone too.

I don't know that I'm the best person to respond to this, because I think the "12th Man" is just quality marketing that isn't really backed up in a ton of fact (any more than any good team's fanbase provides their team an advantage). Seattle is 4-4 at home this year and had lost three straight at home before their win against the rib-less Mike White last week. Their losses to the Falcons, Raiders, and Panthers have all come at home this year. I think when Ford Field and US Bank Stadium are rocking they are both better home field advantage than Seattle, but don't get the same credit via ESPN. I'm sure a Seattle fan would be very offended by this assertion.

I think the Rams have a puncher's chance to beat the Seahawks. Even beyond 'any given Sunday', I don't think the Seahawks are very good and the Rams are a team with a very good coach (despite a very punchable face) that is playing with nothing to lose. I would take the Rams and the points if I bet. I am also feeling pretty good about the Lions tomorrow. I've said it before, but this is a Dan Campbell game. I think this team will be absolutely ready to go, no matter the result in the 4:00 game. I think the Lions at their best have been better than the Packers at their best this year, and it should be a very good game. This is the kind of game that the Jim Caldwell led Lions would come into lethargically and lost by two scores. I think it's what can set this era apart.

Holmes talked to the media a lot last year about avoiding "boxes" and boxing themselves into picks. He doesn't like limiting his options. I think if you gave him truth serum today, he would honestly say they haven't ruled out any position (ok, maybe special teams, but you get my point) from the first round... But, I think that as time passes, the rating of individual players will vary based on their position and we won't see a TE taken in the 1st (probably not a RB either). All else being equal, an edge rusher or the top corner in the draft is going to likely be more valuable to the team than a tight end, especially in this offense that is making Brock Wright look like Rob Gronkowski... That isn't a foregone conclusion just based on their position though. I think if Kyle Pitts was there at #7 in 2020, he would have been seriously considered. I agree regarding Goff. If there was any question about his place on this team in 2023, he's answered those convincingly. I do think a late-round flyer of a QB would be a good idea. Nate Sudfeld probably won't be on the roster next season. I like Stetson Bennett as a guy who should be available in the 6th or 7th Round, has shown the smarts and ability to be a team leader that wins games and championships despite not being the best player on the field, and most importantly, takes care of the ball. Seems like an ideal backup QB.

Draft a RB high, trade Swifty for picks, and re-sign Jamaal.

Those kids that were still in attendance probably texting their friends like “my dad’s job isn’t boring after all!!”

Part of me thinks he should have just shaken hands and made fake apologies like a good little boy… Another part of me gets it. It’s the same part of me that would have been a wise ass to a mall cop and told them to come back with a warrant as a teenager. A coach of a D1 program should probably take the former approach. I don’t think the program actually cares about being holier than thou anymore though. Maybe as an idealistic version of themselves, but they put themselves in the greater world of athletic success > image when they slapped Juwan on the wrist.

20 hours later this remains my first and foremost thought.

Brilliant journalism at work.

Rap tweeted this but if there is an event, it’s private and presumably able to be rescheduled. I don’t know how an NFL venue books an event for the weekend of the Conference Championships unless it comes with a clause that it can be rescheduled if there will be a conference championship played here. I think Detroit and Indy are the two that make the most sense.

A couple pages ago the notion of Santa Ono and Warde Manual allowing Harbaugh and Michigan to lead the charge into the new era of college football was floated. I think a lot of us (myself included) thought of things such as NIL and transfer portal matters that Michigan is well behind on (though catching up). An alternative way of doing that, if he stays, would be for Jim, Warde, and Michigan to help coordinate the effort and lead the charge for the B1G and SEC to disband from the NCAA altogether for the purposes of college football. It’s overdue.
