  1. RE Ben Johnson, I don't doubt that he is a very good OC, but I do wonder how much of the offensive efficiency and productivity was thanks to MCDC.
  2. If they get Williams yes. I think Stroud is better than Maye or Penix. They're the Texans though. If they pass on Stroud they'll probably take Levis at 12 and think they big-brained it, until they finish 4-13, draft 5th, and miss out on both Williams and Maye.
  3. If the Texans seriously pass on Stroud at #2, I don’t see a way that doesn’t become a Trubisky esque punchline for years to come. If by some freak chance he’s there at #6, I think you have to seriously consider taking him.
  4. Watch all the Levi uncertainty have been a smoke screen and he’s going to go out and play like a 2nd round pick this year.
  5. I thought he had one more, but that’s right - he was a 2nd round pick. For the sake of the Lions, I hope he sucks.
  6. I’m not sure I would have done that with Hurts yet. I get it, because the price was only going to go up. But he had the most talented roster in the NFC last season. Can he lead a less talented team to the same destination?
  7. This. I think it would be overthinking things to take Wilson over Anderson. Stare at numbers long enough and they'll tell you anything you want. Anderson's tape speaks for itself. I also think it would be very silly for any team to take Carter over Anderson, considering most considered Anderson a better prospect even before Carter's numerous issues arose.
  8. I haven’t made a Charlie Campbell post in at least a week or so, soooo… The reason I like his mocks and analysis is because while it flies under many radars, but is notoriously accurate at the end of the day. Last draft, his last mock went something like 9/9 to start, which is pretty rare, as much as these are made. He put out his updated mock today. It goes Young/Stroud/Wilson/Richardson/Carter to start, with the Lions landing Anderson. In his full six-round mock, the Lions end up with Will Anderson (EDGE, Alabama), Bijan Robinson (RB, Texas), Sam LaPorta (TE, Iowa), Jack Campbell (LB, Iowa), Cam Mitchell (DB, Northwestern), Riley Moss (CB, Iowa), Dorian Thompson-Robinson (QB, UCLA), Chandler Zavala (OG, NC State), and Jordan McFadden (OG, Clemson). For me, the only way that could get any better would be if we landed Washington instead of LaPorta, but otherwise that’d be a damn near perfect outcome.
  9. This is pretty much how it is done. The rules say that it's the home team until lineup cards are exchanged, but in practicality it's the home team along with MLB, in some amount of consultation with the visiting team. Likewise with umpires. They're not making decisions to postpone (after cards are exchanged) in a vacuum.
  10. If I thought Carter was the next Suh or Donald, I might be able to look past the character issues. I think his talent and ceiling is being overstated in a draft class that is largely missing that high end talent. I would be shocked if the Lions took him. I’m hoping the Seahawks take him at 5, because I don’t think he’s being considered at 6.
  11. I get it from their perspective, in buying low on a player who at one time had immense potential. But that was a lot of time and one Achilles ago.
  12. I think the general national reaction to the Okudah trade doesn’t recognize just how poorly he played down the stretch. He had stretches where he looked okay, but he also got absolutely burned over the top on some plays where he was completely lost.
  13. If the Lions are interested in moving up, I would definitely try to do it before the night of the draft. Between the Tepper-led Panthers and the revolving door in Houston, it’s far from a given that Stroud and Young go 1 and 2. And if either are there at 3, the price will go up.
  14. This combined with their infatuation for Anzalone.
  15. Levi played in 15 games in 2021... If you want to say he has been productive in zero games for the Detroit Lions, I'll agree with you.
  16. Just checked. Googling “Lions [opponent team] stream online free” remains free.
  17. I agree. I think the Patrick Mahomes effect has made lot of teams get shiny object syndrome around the Lamar Jacksons, Deshaun Watsons, and Joe Burrows of the league. But you can win a lot of games with Matt Ryan, Jared Goff, or (probably) CJ Stroud.
  18. 1. Be from NorCal 2. Have a hot girlfriend 3. ? 4. Profit
  19. Stroud comp-ing to Goff is overly simplistic, but the style of “pro style” pocket passer (like Ryan, Brady, Goff, and Stroud) is going the way of the dodo bird in favor of athlete-first passers. I think Stroud’s abilities were under-utilized by an Ohio State team that played 11 cupcakes in a 13-game schedule, and I think he is more mobile than he is given credit for. He’s not going to be a Lamar Jackson or Justin Fields, but I think he has an ability to keep plays alive with his feet. If the Lions moved to #3 and he slipped, I would strongly consider him.
  20. It’s definitely possible. I don’t think it would have happened here though.
  21. Okudah is an unfortunate story that is emblematic of the prior regime. A bad pick, combined with awful coaching, put together with poor injury luck. He wasn’t a guy from this regime, and it was time to move on. I do wish all the best for Okudah in the future. Seems like a great guy who never really had a chance here.
  22. In fairness, Holmes likely would have gotten a lot more for Slay…. Or not had to trade him in the first place.
  23. If you had asked me last week what I thought we would get in an Okudah trade I would have guessed a conditional 6th. I thought he was a possible training camp cut. With Holmes’ track record, I think I like the chances of a 5th rounder he selects working out as much as I thought Okudah would have been extended. I’ll take the pick.
  24. I don't think there is any way they pickup the option. They may still extend him after the fact if he proves to earn his long-term spot on the team. But the odds of him being worth $11.5MM are extremely low.
