I don’t blame Sarkisian for seeking NFL offers. Even if it’s a fake report from his agent meant to renegotiate his contract and up his buyout. The NFL is so much easier than the NCAA right now. You’re managing a locker room of men, but at least you’re not managing the emotions and knee-jerk reactions of unrealistic and borderline delusional university systems. At least the majority of the NFL understands how hard it is to win games in a competitive league. NFL teams don’t fire coaches midseason because they’ve lost three games to the #7, #9, and #3 teams in that league.

**** Brian Kelly, he killed a kid and suffered no consequences. LSU is delusional and thinks they should win a national championship every year. Kids in 2025 want the money. If your best offer to Underwood was 5x less than Michigan’s, it’s a donor problem not a coach problem. That donor problem will not be solved by paying Kelly $52MM for him to not coach your team. **** Brian Kelly, have I mentioned that one yet?

LSU firing Kelly is funny on several counts.

It’s not just that they haven’t played anybody, it’s that the one game they played against a somebody, they weren’t competitive. The Bears have a real chance to go 10-7. Ravens, Bengals, Giants, Vikings, Steelers, and Browns all look like winnable games. Maybe even steal one against the Packers to make up for a loss in there. But I think they would lose by 10+ in a wildcard game against an A-tier NFC team (Lions, Rams, Eagles, etc.). And Ben Johnson would be on his way to the Brian Dabboll trajectory if Caleb Williams isn’t it.

I’m curious to see the Lions plan to stop the tush push. They voted against banning it, so you’d have to think there is some sort of competitive thought to that decision. Unless they just like our best against their best, or see the new rule as being too broad.

Maybe…. But I’m skeptical. They’re playing a 4th place schedule. Wins against the Cowboys, Raiders, Commanders, and Saints. None of those teams are .500. The one game they played against a good team, the Lions, they got trounced. Don’t get me wrong, to be a good team you have to beat the bad teams. But I’m not convinced they’re ready to slug it out with the big boys.

Him and Dan Campbell sharing an affection for ankle biters was not an expected twist.

Hopefully just depth and not an indication on Reed’s progress.

The New York media is a bloodbath. I don’t think he’s Patricia, I think he’s overwhelmed as a first-year head coach stuck between a bad owner and a bad roster. I think Campbell’s time as interim HC in Miami is understated as it relates to his success here.

Reasonable to think Kwesi may be on the hot seat. He's one of the worst drafting GMs in the league and it's a wonder how KOC took that team to 14-3 last year.

With all the talk about trading for an edge rusher, I’m far more worried about this. I wouldn’t be shocked if they put him on IR, hoping they can get him right before the playoff run. But even that’s probably not a guarantee. My honest guess is that he needs surgery, has needed it since before the season, but getting it done would knock him out the rest of the year. So he’s putting it off and has X number of games he’s able to play in until his body gives out and it absolutely has to be done. I wonder if Orlando Brown Jr. (Bengals) or Kolton Miller (Raiders) or even Andrew Thomas (Giants) might be a surprise deadline trade.

I agree. And they should get their chance to take their QB pick of the litter in April. But that’s for the coaches to decide behind closed doors. An owner throwing his player under the bus serves nothing and no one.

Woody Johnson needs to shut his damn mouth. In late October 2022, the Lions were 1-5 and looked dreadful off a 24-6 loss against Dallas, that came after a bye and getting shutout against New England. Campbell was 4-18-1 as head coach. Goff hadn’t thrown a touchdown in nearly a month. Sheila came out and pledged her support behind Brad and Dan. She acknowledged how hard the rebuild was on fans and the team alike, but unabashedly threw her support behind them. Obviously the rest is history in the making. To put it into numbers though, they’ve been 40-12 in the regular season since those comments. Can you imagine if she’d come out and said “well it’s hard to win when you’re not scoring points!”

Paralysis by over-analysis is a natural consequence of the degree to which the NFL has chosen to rely on replay. The point of replay should be to fix obvious mistakes, not re-litigate every single play. There has to be a balance between wanting to get the calls right and understanding that if a fraction of an inch seen only by a 8x zoomed super slow motion replay costs someone a game, they didn’t do enough anyway. I’ve said before, I’ll say again. There needs to be a hard cut-off point on replay. After a challenge is thrown and the Referee goes to the monitor, Replay gets 60 seconds to review the play with him. Don’t even make it a full media timeout. When those 60 seconds are up, all feeds to both the monitor and replay cut off. If you don’t have definitive evidence that it should be overturned, the call stands.

The Packers seem to be emerging as the team the Lions will need to best to make it three straight in the North. Can't ignore the Vikings or Bears, but I think it's the Lions and Packers at 1 and 2. The Packers hold a half game lead thanks to their sister kisser in Dallas. Packers have Steelers, Panthers, Eagles, Giants, and Vikings before they come to Detroit on Thanksgiving. Lions have Vikings, Commanders, Eagles, and Giants. Hard to see the Packers doing any worse than 3-2 in that stretch, 4-1 might be more likely. The Steelers are worse than their record indicates, though maybe Rodgers will play out of his mind. Panthers and Giants are pesky, but not good. The Vikings are clearly not the same team that went 14-3 last year. Lions will need to go 3-1 to hold serve if so. They are better than the Vikings, Commanders, and Giants, and should win each of those games. The Eagles won't be easy, but it may be important. And the rematch on Thanksgiving will be massive.
