  1. That's not the comparison I'm most interested in. Jalen Carter/Tyree Wilson vs. Gibbs and Tyjae Shape and other RBs they could have had later on vs. Gibbs are the comparisons I'm more interested in.
  2. If David Montgomery is the starter and will get a majority of the snaps, did they just draft a pass catching a RB who will be off the field on obvious running situations? Realistically speaking, how many touches can we expect Gibbs to get per game? 8-10-12?
  3. Is Gibbs that much better than other pass catching backs like Tyjae Spears? Did we just pull a Clyde Edwards-Helaire when we could have just waited and got Isaiah Pacheco later on in the draft? RBs drafted later than Gibbs, as well as guys they could have drafted like Jalen Carter/Tyree Wilson/Christian Gonzalez are who I'm going to compare him to, not Bijan Robinson.
  4. Damn are the Eagles going to be tough to beat. Even after losing guys like Hargrave in the off-season, this great draft makes up for it if Jalen Carter is a stud.
  5. For tomorrow I want Joey Porter at #34, Siaki Ika at #48, and Cedric Tillman at #55 assuming we stay at each pick.
  6. Do you at all fear that Holmes ignoring positional value is him trying to be a little bit of the smartest guy in the room with his draft strategy?
  7. Right, but the point with RB specifically, like the TE position, is top backs can be taken all over the draft. Again, I don't hate the player at all. I like Gibbs and wanted him at a later point in the draft. I just didn't want him over Tyree Wilson, Nolan Smith, Myles Murphy, Calijah Kancey, Christian Gonzalez or a defensive player on a team that had a league-worst defense last year. Again though, if he ends up being Alvin Kamara then great and it will all have been worth it for us. Clearly, they only had a certain amount of guys with first round grades and Gibbs was one of them.
  8. The big difference is Kamara was a 3rd round pick
  9. I'd love to trade back into the first for Nolan Smith and then move up in the early second and get Joey Porter. If you told me they would come out of the draft, before tonight started, with Gibbs/Campbell/Smith/Porter Jr. I'd be stocked in the end.
  10. If Gibbs is an Alvin Kamara type of player than it will all have been worth it. If he's a Travis Etienne or Clyde Edwards-Helaire then I am going to be concerned.
  11. https://thedraftnetwork.com/sr-prospect/jack-campbell-d213e4cd-9072-4d5b-bd52-05f43d4151c0/ Top Reasons For Concern: Modest range Tight lower half Man coverage skill set https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jack-campbell/32004341-4d36-4731-433d-b35acfc680bc Weaknesses: Plays conservatively on his second-level perch. Initial diagnosis movements lack suddenness. Allows climbing blockers into frame before punching. Needs to play off blocker with better efficiency. Tall center of gravity slows change of direction in open field. Lacking desired short-area burst in pursuit. Long legs hinder ability to match in man coverage.
  12. We need a LB who can drop back and cover in space and we need a run stopper. I do like Campbell as a pick, just not when pass rushing options like Nolan Smith are still on the board. If Campbell were a coverage LB who could come and play the run and cover in space, I'd have no issue taking him in the first. He is your traditional, old school, Gregg Lloyd-type MLB that will come up the middle and stuff the run. That's great for the second round but not the first IMO.
  13. Yes, if you're playing football in the 1980s then a traditional, run stopping MLB, who can't cover in space or rush the QB and a RB would be great picks. Gregg Lloyd and Ricky Watters were great players in the 1990s, but I wouldn't draft them today in the first round because they don't fit where today's game is going.
  14. How many RBs make their second contract with the same team?
  15. Do you believe Jalen Carter will now be a stud since the Lions passed on him?
  16. Why pay Anzalone just to draft Campbell this high?
  17. They likely had 12-13-14 guys with first round grades and they must have had Gibbs and Campbell as two of them. Kahng was saying that on the 97.1 draft stream.
  18. Trade up and get Nolan Smith.
  19. Right, I like him a good deal too. But good RBs can be had all over the draft.
  20. A MLB who can't rush the pass or cover either. Nolan Smith is a hybrid DE/LB who you would think would be worth it there at 18.
  21. Is Gibbs that much better than someone like Charbonnett that they could have had in the second? There are a million good RBs in this draft.
  22. All the Lions 2nd rounders bust too. Grrrrrrrreeeaaaat!!!
  23. This ****ing sucks. They walked away with two players with second round grades.
  24. This isn't football in the 1980s and 90s. They picked a RB and a LB like it's 1990. Campbell is an old school LB who can't cover, he's strickly a run stopping LB.
