I will laugh my ever loving ass off if we swing a trade for a player myself and others originally wanted in 2021. Also, this is a good lesson in why a win now team, with a good enough QB to win, shouldn't surrender first round picks for the latest hot name QB. I wonder how much better San Francisco's roster would be if they had drafted Penei Sewell, Ja'Marr Chase or Micah Parsons. I can't believe I'm saying this though because I was always someone chasing after the latest and greatest rookie QB and wanted Trey Lance in the 2021 draft. It's not to say you never draft a rookie QB, but for a good team, with a good QB, to surrender a lot of first round draft capital to go and do it, it doesn't always make sense to do so.

We have a chance to be a special team next year. As good or better than the 1991 team that went 12-4 and probably one of, if not the best, Lions team, in many of our lives. The #6 pick needs to be used on an impact player who can both start right away and make an impact on this team next year. A player that can elevate our team to the next level. You don't use the #6 pick to draft a backup, only to decide which QB you want later. Arizona used their #10 1st round pick on Josh Rosen and traded him a year later for significantly less value than what they acquired him for.

At first I thought about Kahn and thought for sure he'd be a Democrat because he's an immigrant with an accent. Then I remember he is from Laos and that is a communist country. So I could see Kahn being similar to many of the Republican Cuban Hispanics in Florida and conflating public assistance programs with a communist military junta and state secret police.

Wasn't Peggy a public school teacher? Wouldn't she be a union member? I agree that Dale and Bill would be full MAGA. Probably Boomhower too.

NFL.com Scouting Report on CJ Stroud from Greg Zierlein is literally our QB. So drafting Goff's replacement to hope he ends up exactly like Jared Goff.
-
Hank Hill likely would not support a 23% sales tax on propane and propane accessories. That said, something tells me Hank would probably wear a MAGA hat. Homer Simpson too. I'd at least hope Hank had the good decency to still love his son Bobby once he found out about Bobby's sexuality.

We had a President called D*ck.

The party of fighting inflation's answer to fighting inflation and lowering costs is to add a 23% consumption/sales tax on everything you purchase. Can't wait to see the price of eggs or a carton of milk after this passes. This will be a great message for 2024, take away your Social Security, take away your Medicare, make you work for Medicaid benefits so when you have cancer you can keep working, and now, pay a 23% consumption tax on everything you buy. Sounds like a winning message to me.

This thread is for Comedy Skits (Probably NSFW)

RIP Sam Kinison. He was before my time but I love listening to his standup. -
They were talking about this on Pod Save America yesterday and saying that Tom Cotton already came out and said Republicans will not allow a temporary replacement for her, nor will Republicans as a whole be in any hurry to allow an appointment to replace her on the committee. They were basically saying what you said, either she shows up to the Senate or it remains vacant.

When I was a kid my dad and I were at a party store on Canton Center and Sheldon Rds. in Canton. My dad had a black Ford Probe and the car next to us was a black car also. As we were exiting the party store this older lady opened the passenger side door of his car and started to sit down inside of it. That was until her husband spoke up and asked her why she was getting into the wrong car. We all laughed about it and she got up and walked into her and her husbands car. I guess my dad would have been justified in blowing her away though under the white persons MAGA doctrine of self defense.
-
Under the MAGA and right wing doctrine of self defense that lady would have been justified to pull out a gun and just start firing it at you. The far right believes that property is sacred and people are not. That without property rights you have no rights and so defending your turf is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and to protect your freedoms.
-
I've never understood why are white people so afraid of whose at their door or who could be lurking around a corner. I don't look at every knock on my door as a situation that could harm me. I don't think that I need to go grab a knife from my kitchen or a baseball bat because that knock might be the one that kills me.

Letting Golladay walk and not signing Robinson are two great moves by Brad Holmes.

I know these aren't NFL draft boards and actual teams boards will look a heck of a lot different than internet boards. I also get that #6 is probably too high and would require a trade back. But . . . He's the #10 rated player of PFFs big board, the #9 rated player on Draft Buzz, #11 on The Draft Network's big board, #10 on Charlie Campbell's big board.

I think Cincinnati and their 3-headed monster at WR makes the case for drafting Johnston. Just as they have Chase and Higgins on the outside at the X and Z spots and Boyd in the slot, we would have Johnston and Williams on the outside at X and Z and St. Brown on the inside. If you're an opposing team you can't double up on anyone with all three guys on the field. Its the same case as was made for trading for Higgins in earlier in the offseason.

I'm a bit higher on Gonzalez due to his measurables and him being a taller, lengthier CB. But I'd be just fine with either guy being drafted. I'm also not one of those "YOU CAN'T DRAFT A CB THIS EARLY" folks because it has been such a position of need for the Lions and we're in a passing league. I would be upset if they passed on Will Anderson for a Corner and mildly disappointed if they drafted one over Wilson. But other than Sutton, we don't have a Corner signed long term on this team and still have a need there, s either Gonzalez or Witherspoon would be fine by me.
-
This hasn't gotten much discussion and I get why, because it's seemingly unlikely to happen. But would you be upset or disappointed in the Lions took Quentin Johnston at #6 or traded back and took him at some pick prior to the pick at #18?
-
Kancey is still a guy I am very much interested in because we could really use an interior pass rusher to free up Hutch, Houston, Harris, and R. Okwara along the edge. If we end up drafting Tyree Wilson though he will give us versatility and we can slide him along the line, including inside. Picking Wilson makes me less likely to want to get Kancey at #18 and more likely to want to get a run stuffing DT to fill the gaps in the middle like Siaki Ika or Mazi Smith in the 2nd round. I left Jalen Carter completely off my draft board because I still believe he is off Brad Holmes' board too. Unless he knocked it out of the park with his visit yesterday, I don't think they're taking him or even considering Carter at this point. This is probably top 7 for each of #6, #18, #48 and #55. I'd say who I want at #6 or #18 hasn't changed a whole lot in the last month. Assuming no trades, this is my draft board/wish list. Pick #6 1. Will Anderson 2. Tyree Wilson 3. Christian Gonzalez 4. Devon Witherspoon 5. Quentin Johnston Pick #18 1. Christian Gonzalez (I expect him to be gone) 2. Devon Witherspoon (I expect him to be gone) 3. Quentin Johnston (I think there is an outside chance he is still there) 4. Joey Porter Jr. 5. Calijah Kancey (Only if we don't take one of Anderson or Wilson) 6. Bijan Robinson 7. Bryan Bresee 8. Nolan Smith (Only if we don't take one of Anderson or Wilson) Pick #48 2nd Round 1. Jahmyr Gibbs (Only if we don't take Bijan) 2. Jack Campbell 3. Mazi Smith 4. Siaki Ika 5. Trenton Simpson 6. Drew Sanders 7. Steve Avila Pick #55 2nd Round 1. Jack Campbell 2. Mazi Smith 3. Siaki Ika 4. Trenton Simpson 5. Drew Sanders 6. Steve Avila

Here's what TJ Lang had to say regarding what people inside the league are saying on Jalen Carter . . .

Mayer seems like a Hockenson clone and I don't see the point of having traded Hock just to go and draft Mayer with a 1st. If they want another high-level vertical and red zone threat they should draft Quentin Johnston in the 1st before a drafting a TE imo.
-
I'm perfectly fine with them drafting a TE at some point too. Darnell Washington, Sam Laporta, Dalton Kincaid are all reasonably intriguing 2nd round prospects. I just don't want to keep repeating Lions history with a 1st round TE. I would be stunned if they reached and took at TE at #6, that ain't happening. However, I could see there being some world where they end up drafting one of Michael Mayer or Darnell Washington at #18 or in some trade back scenario, which I do not want. If they used one of their two 2nds on a TE I would even been cool with that depending on the player. If they traded TJ Hockenson just to go and burn/waste a 1st round pick on another TE I'll be disappointed, probably pissed. I'm going to give Brad Holmes the benefit of the doubt on most any move he could make. But another Lions 1st round TE is one of those moves that no matter how hard I try to give Brad the benefit, I'm probably going to end up dumping on in the end. I think most fans would as well.

Pride of Detroit: Report: Detroit Lions pursued free agent TE Foster Moreau, expected to add TE in draft GULP! Please not a first round Tight End. Please not Michael Mayer or Darnell Washington.

Not a single Lions Head Coach except **** Juron has ever gotten a second chance to be a Head Coach in the league. Maybe other teams recognized the Fords were, up until recently, the worst ownership group in all of professional sports and wouldn't hire anyone they had hired.

Sometimes, once you see something or think about someone in a particular light you can't unsee it or not think about it. I have Nick Fairley flashbacks with Jalen Carter on that we have a guy with all the talent in the world who just isn't fully committed to being all he can be and leaving it all on the field. Showing up looking and actually being out of shape during the most important time period for a potential NFL rookie, much less a potential top 5 pick, is not good. Holmes and Campbell seem to want to only bring in people who live and die for the game of football, and Carter doesn't strike me as that, at least at this point. Maybe their interview with Carter changed things and he aced it, but I still those believe those reports about him being off certain teams draft boards is true. I think that we are one of those teams, but who knows.
