  1. Love this new ad by the Lincoln Project . . .
  2. No one ever said Putin was a tactically smart man. When you combine that with the fact that he is either surrounded by yes man sycophants or people scared shitless of speaking out against him, you get a bad combination and ill-advised strategy as a result. Hitler in North Africa and choosing to invade the Soviet Union is one of the most prominent examples of this toxic combo, as is Leonid Brezhnev's decision to invade and get bogged down in Afghanistan. You'd think Putin being a student of the Soviet Union's disastrous affairs in Afghanistan or the US's own issues might have taught Putin a thing or two about resistance forces and how strong they can fight.
  3. DNA tests reveal . . .
  4. I wonder what this guys former black players at Auburn would think if he made a comment like that to players in the locker room.
  5. I noticed lots of that too. The irony is of course that Columbus never even set foot in the territorial United States or North America. He certainly didn't discover it either, the Vikings were the first Europeans to sail the Atlantic and come here.
  6. I'm going to guess this is normal and other NFL teams do it as well. Still seem strange given the timing of when it happened.
  7. Xi seems like a smart man. Even if he is wildly arrogant, craven, power hungry as a person, he is still smart and strategic. I have to think he now looks at Russia's War in Ukraine as a stupid, strategic move, motivated solely by one man's own arrogance and ego. Xi might be arrogant and egomaniacal himself, but he doesn't generally let that get in the way of good strategy and tactic it seems. Xi realizes that Putin's war is disrupting all sorts of things in the broader economy and is also being seen as a public relations embarrassment given that one of the guys on his side, Putin, is losing badly. I know China gets significant natural resources from Russia, namely oil, natural gas, and minerals, so he'll never fully pull the plug on Russia. But is there a reality where he pulls the plug on Putin, while still supporting Russia? Would he be angry, bold and brazen enough to make a move to support the ousting of Putin?
  8. I think what Zac Taylor did in Cincinnati is what Campbell, the organization, and fans can hold out hope for. Zac Taylor was a dumpster fire his first two seasons, partly because his QB in Burrow went down. Taylor was 4-25 in his first two seasons and then went to a Super Bowl. I'm not ready to give up on Campbell yet partially because constantly firing coaches over and over is not healthy for an organization and partly because I'm just exhausted as a fan, having to sit through a rebuild of the rebuild. I'm still on Campbell's side, even if I share individual frustrations with the guy and his decisions. To play devil's advocate for a second though, it's one thing to have a rough first year start when your players know you are a rebuilding team. It's another thing to be two years deep and have 4-5-6 wins total through three seasons. I'm not an expert and I have almost zero idea into the mindset of an NFL player. But how long are players willing to hold out and fight for a guy when he continues to put them in bad situation on the field and lose games? Even if they like the guy, how long will they accept losing at this clip?
  9. I went back and looked at Campbell's last presser and saw that "needle isn't moving comment." I interpret that to mean he's not healing and isn't close to returning. I hope you aren't right about spending the season on IR, but fear you are correct.
  10. I know we'll be using this bye week to heal up and get healthy. On that note. has anyone seen a recent update or report about Josh Paschal or Levi Onwuzurike? I had saw on Twitter that Paschal was practicing but not ready to play yet. I think the last thing I read about Levi was from MLive back in September where they quoted Campbell as saying it is a slow process to getting him back healthy. Other than the MLive report, nothing. Two second round picks and so far both have proved useless and haven't contributed a thing. Will we see either on the field this year? Is there a chance we can see Paschal the week after the bye?
  11. Lions 46 - Bye 53 Bye has a great running game, so I expect bye to average about 7.0 YPC and probably 4.5 yards before contact. Dan Campbell will blow a time out against bye to start the second half and it will cost us because we won't have it at the end of the game when driving against bye.
  12. I still can't get over Campbell's decisions to go for it on 4th & 9 yesterday when only down 6-0. Why the hell did you sign Michael Badgley if you have no faith in him to make a field goal of any distance apparently? You might as well have kept Seibert around if you aren't going to use the kicker.
  13. What games do you honestly see this team winning at this point? The Bears? Maybe the Dolphins without Tua? The Jets? I think we probably lose to anyone with a top 12-15 offense and QB since it's clear we can't get a stop at this point when needed.
  14. I don't know if it's just him being a rookie or coaching or a combination of the two, but Hutch looks overmatched through 5 weeks. I'm not worrying too much yet and certainly not writing him off. But he hasn't produced anything of statistical note outside of the Washington game. I'll admit I expected him to get it going quickly and be an impact defender almost immediately.
  15. If you've got the choice between an elite edge prospect like Will Anderson or a QB like Bryce Young or CJ Stroud are you still going pass rusher at that point?
  16. Given that the season is basically over after week 5 and has turned into a complete calamity, I thought it was a good time to start up the 2023 draft thread. Right now we're on track for the #1 pick overall and it doesn't look like that's changing anytime soon. What players are you most interested at this point in time?
  17. I said at the beginning of the season that I wanted to see improvement on the whole and didn't care as much about wina as long as guys looked better week in and out. After today's implosion, I'm struggling to see who exactly looks better? St. Brown, Sewell, Rodriguez . . . Who else? Okudah looked like it at first but is regressing. Jared Goff had a nice start but did not look good at all today. Where is the improvement from guys?
  18. I know they were not on the above list, but the Giants fired everyone, coaching and front office. Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen take over as Coach and GM. In 5 games under their regime, with Daniel Jones at QB, they are now 4-1. What a difference component coaching can make.
  19. Bryce Young looks enticing right now and good news is, we'll have the first pick
  20. Brian Daboll is 4-1 and Dan Campbell's about to be 1-4. The Giants have turned it around and done in weeks what the Lion's won't be able to do in two seasons.
  21. Dan Campbell's the great motivator though.
  22. This team straight up blows. Barring a comeback here, we should start questioning everything sans Brad Holmes. Campbell needs to answer for the pathetic performance
  23. If things start going off the rails like this, against a team starting third string QB Bailey Zappe, then we're going have to have an entirely different conversation come Monday.
