The Athletic had a story that a lot of scouts see no QBs with a first round grade this year. Sanders and Ward are default picks for NYG and LV because they don't have anyone. In addition to JJ, I wonder if Hooker would have a market? If Johnson leaves and goes somewhere without a QB, would he want Hooker?

2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason
RatkoVarda replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
yes to Bo; no to Tork. they are committed to Vlad at 1B, so Tork is worth little to most teams and very, very little to Tor. really hard to match up with Tor as Bo coming off his worst year and multiple injuries Toronto needs to make playoffs or everyone is out at the end of the season, so any trade needs to be for ML players who can help them reach WC. sounds like they are hopeful they can sign Vlad, but know Bo is leaving, so maybe? Jung is the start, but what to add? Jung + Vierling is too much IMO for just 1 sure year of Bo -

they are still woefully thin at SS. Harris must address the position. Kim may be worth the risk at some price point + years. Sweeney - a complete question mark, who has performed the opposite of the conventional wisdom surrounding him (supposed to have a sure bat and would likely move to 3b) McKinstry - fine as your 13th position player, as he can fake at SS for 20 games a season, but he is a LH bat like Sweeney Baez - generously estimating there is a 10% chance he gets 50 ABs in Detroit before he is released. Kreidler - not a ML hitter Navigato - really? -

if not Bregman, roll the dice on Kim. Santander is a really poor fit, especially after adding Torres. -
sorry if this is repetitive, but I find this completely bonkers. except for losses to each other, the only losses by Det-Minn-GB were by 4 division winners Det - TB, Buff; Minn - Rams; GB - Philly. I think that record will hold tonight. What a division! (And the Bears were looking at a decent season until the Washington Hail Mary.)

I don't doubt that Richardson is injured, but with the season on the line, Stafford or Mahomes would have demanded to play. Maybe Richardson did that. But whatever slim chance there was of him developing into a competent QB was destroyed by the Colts. Teams needing a QB: NYG, Raiders, NYJ, Cleveland, NO, Indy, Tenn and maybe Seattle.

any given Sunday Colts, desperate to stay alive in the playoffs, give up 45 to the NYG who had lost 10 in a row and scored only 35 points total the last 3 weeks

agree; but if his attitude is as poor as Yankee fans would have you believe, he is not interested in learning RF. That would work better for Detroit and would help Torres' FA market next winter, and while it sounds like he was told he can play 2B here, plans can change. a reminder that Torres - Gary Sanchez - Aaron Judge was supposed to be the core of a new Yankee dynasty. the fact that most perceive him as underachieving - even though he is a 2 time all star who debuted at 21 - makes the potential payoff for Harris here significant IMO -
DetNews posted Lynn's Top 50 prospect list ($). Interesting - to me at least as some of these guys names are new to me - in that he has a lot of Latin American signees on the list, including IFs Joe Dickson and Gabriel Reyes and C Steven Madero in the top 20 along with Franyerber and C Enrique Jimenez. Caveat in that Lynn is getting most of this info fed to him from the organization, and also that Cristian Santana was recently near the very top and is now nowhere to be found. If they made it to Detroit, Lynn did not include them, even if they maintain rookie eligibility.

bat: great approach, crushes LH pitching money: great baserunning: not great but can be fixed defense: ugh risk: little not a perfect fit, but they are better today than they were yesterday -

maybe. HRs will certainly go down. But would he hit 50 doubles? would his OBP rebound to .360? batting him 2nd between Meadows and Greene might work out very well. -

I would sign RH OF Austin Hays, giving them a very solid OF/DH rotation of Greene-Meadow-Carpenter-Hays-Vierling (with Vierling getting some time at 3B) and I would trade a whole lot for SS Bo Bichette (Jung/Olson/+ more ?). Appears as though Toronto is willing to move him and replace him with Gimenez instead of having him walk for a 4th round pick in 2026. Meadows/Bichette/Greene/Carpenter/Hays/Vierling/Keith/Tork/Sweeney/Ibanez/McKinstry/Rogers/Dingler wins the AL Central. FInd 2 decent choice to stash at Toledo for 1b and C should Tork and/or Dingler bomb. -

Fangraphs has 2025 projections out and Dingler and Navigato are projected to be the 3rd and 8th most productive position players by WAR. That's .... interesting. -
20M is totally reasonable, 3 years is some risk, he'll be 36 the last year; Tigers would have forfeited pick #63. Astros roll the dice again on an older FA first baseman
