Wasn't some of it just the teams though? LIke in the 1990s and 2000 we just needed warm bodies so nobody was getting non tender. ALso the arbitration money was a lot lower. Then in the Dave years he didn't have any young players cause he went with established guys. So there was nobody to make a decision on whether to cut after year 4 or 5.

What does that even mean? The Giants did turn the corner, are still in line for playoffs and we are still below .500 despite today's win. Or do you think a head to head win means the rebuilds are going the same? Your homerism and blindness to just defend them at all cost know no bounds.

I would argue good. But the point is more cost. Would we be better getting his same production for fraction of the cost and using the extra money elsewhere?

Can't keep kicking it down, at some point you get old and the mega contract goes away. If someone offers him 10/300 he should take it as it's a guaranteed 300 million In the bank. Versus 37 million this year and nothing in the future if you blow out a knee. Nobody offered it last year, and if someone does it's there. I doubt anyone will offer 10/375 as he gets old and older.

That you can't just excuse them and the season as "did you think they were going to be good?" That's just silly. NO nobody thought they were going to be good, but they are the worst team in the league. WHo thought that? Well they are a young team and can build for the future. Guys playing for jobs You play to win the game. Or whatever else bs coach speak cliche that isn't backed up by any evidence you feel like.

On a side note, this is one of the things about sports and sports journalism. He's out for "personal" reasons which just gets the rumor mill going. Why not just say his family is expecting. What does it hurt/harm?
