  1. It will only affect those on 40 man rosters, according to Baseball America.
  2. This years draft will be ok for QB's, mediocre for WR, lukewarm/meh for TE, extremely good for Dline, and really exceptional for CB's. Also deep in Safeties and linebackers. I think the Lions have needs all over the field obviously. If I had 1-1, I'd take Kayvon Thibodeaux from Oregon, and make him an OLB opposite Okwara, and try to trade Flowers before the draft for more picks.
  3. There's no way the Lions would even look at him with everything that's hanging over him. The Lions just need to look at the draft right now. Right now, I would skip this year's QB bunch, and build up the defense and receiver corp. It's not a great year for receivers, but the Lions have extra picks. I like the 2023 QB class more than the 2022.
  4. Basically, I would love for the Tigers to follow their model, they really know how to build on their talent base. They are mostly built through the draft, and get extra picks every year.
  5. Is Tampa tanking?
  6. Draft the best players. Going to need a lot of them everywhere.
  7. Hinch stated from day one that Tork was going to just play first base at Toledo.
  8. He seems to have the frame for power stuff, am I correct?
  9. He's throwing it, FG has him down for 13.2% of the time. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/casey-mize/20492/stats?position=P
  10. Lamar might be light for him. Willis has a freaking hose.
  11. Or he is anticipating the comp picks will replace the picks he traded.
  12. I was in the Army, so any inference to drunken sailors makes me giggle.
  13. Also, a word about this draft class. I'm not crazy about the talent at the top of the draft. I don't see a superstar in Thibodeaux, he's long and lean, but not super explosive. It's a lean group of wide receivers, but a great group of corners at the top end. Everybody is knocking this QB class, but there is talent there, and there's plenty to choose from. Talent wise, Malik Willis of Liberty might be the most talented player in this class. He has a hose for an arm, and great feet. Similar to Lamar Jackson.
  14. The Lions also have at least 3 comp picks, including a 3rd for losing Golladay. They are minus their 4th (trade with Cleveland), fifth (Trinity Benson) and 7th (ditto) picks. 1. Their own 1. LA Rams 2. Their own 3. Their own 3. Comp pick 6. Their own 6. Comp pick? 7. Comp pick? IMO, they need more picks. Trading down would be good.
  15. Please no! Gimmicky.
  16. The Tigers would have to watch Verlander's innings if they signed him, since he's coming off TJ. I would try to sneak Max in, but if he's not interested, then I'd go to Verlander and tell him he was my #1 all the time. It really sounds like the ocean is parting for the Tigers to make a deal with Correa. I would also be fine with Haase/Gardeau at catcher. They have been excellent.
  17. Stoney said they need to keep Torkelson in the minors to improve his batting average.
  18. The kid in Lakeland that I like is Wilmer Flores. He's built just like (6'4", 225) his brother Wilmer. I guess his dad Wilmer is built too. And he has two other brothers named Wilmer.
  19. No room to carry him over the winter. He'll be a free agent again, there's no room for him in Detroit. Toledo maybe, but not Detroit.
  20. Thank you everyone, especially Kacie!
  21. Thank you Bert! You're the best!
  22. My team has been bad for a long time, but brighter days are ahead... 1. Wander Franco SS/3b 2. Adley Rutchsmann C 3. Spenny Torkelson, 1b/3b 4. Riley Greenee, CF 5. Dylan Carlson, RF/CF/LF 6. Nolan Gorman, 3b/2b 7. Anthony Volpe, SS 8. Nick Yorke, 2b 9. Nick Pratto, 1b 10. Shane Baz, SP 11. George Kirby, SP 12. Up in the air... Keeper league, keep 8-12 players each year. There is trading of draft picks, but you cannot trade your 12th rd pick if you are keeping 12.
  23. My wife Mary (27th anniversary was a couple of weeks ago) has breast cancer. She found out she had it on the same day she found out that I likely gave her Covid, in late April. She was detected early, thank god, but it took 2 surgeries for them to get rid of the cancer, and now she is going through chemo. She's now more than halfway done with the chemo, so she's rounding 2nd base in a way. We are holding up well. It's been a big help having my son home during this trying time. We appreciate any thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
  24. I just bought some Tool tickets for March 3rd at LC. It will be my last Tool concert!
  25. I would like to say that Scoot is my personal hero, and thank you for the new site!
