  1. His homer streak was also not sustainable:
  2. You are trying to save the bullpen and you are also trying to stress test Manning. He's getting close to the end of the evaluation stage of his career. If he's just a back end starter, that's fine. We need to see if he can do that consistently and stay healthy for a few months.
  3. It looks like Maeda is getting activated on Friday if there are no setbacks. So Manning will go back down and wait his next chance.
  4. Will he be a good hitter?
  5. It's hard to sweep series....they fought today. Go win 2 in KC.
  6. Good to see them fight back..Bullpens have guys who are either great or in a slump. It's hard to nail down which combo will work on each day..oh well.
  7. If you walk Tucker Barnhart on 4 pitches, your career is over at that point.
  8. Might be a short outing for Manning if this continues.
  9. Gallen against Keith, Tork, and Baez isn't fair lol.
  10. Scoreless no more...20 innings of futility.
  11. Tyler Alexander has thrown 7 perfect innings vs Toronto.
  12. They need to figure out if Tork is worth investing more time in as a cornerstone player. If not, his position is easy to replace on the market. Keith is a developmental play and the contract gives him a lot of time. The Baez decision has to come within this calendar year. The money is gone and they have to decide when to cut bait and find another solution at short. Third base is a black hole. Vierling's performance diminishes if he gets too many plate appearances. Urshels is barely playable and not a long term solution; Ibanez is a decent upgrade over Harold Castro types but if you play him too much, bad stuff starts happening. Going forward, you can't just wait for development or time to fix your issues with this. If you can't sign a free agent, take some risks and make baseball trades to raise the floor. You're wasting a very good run prevention year becuase they are waiting for something to happen.
  13. They also only have 4 guys with a slugging percentage comfortably over .400...Vierling is at .403 but he's probably going to sink even further as he plays too much. The rest of the guys are either going to hit singles or have unproductive outs. So if Greene and Canha have an off 15 days, the offense has no chance.
  14. SSS theater...but Greene and Canha can't have a bad 15 days. Baez, Keith, Tork, and catchers have been so feeble that you need your best hitters to be great all year..but it's unrealistic. The real solution is to have more depth.
  15. Ok perhaps there a lot more bad offenses this year? They are 21st in runs for whatever that's worth.
  16. Urshela's been hurt...but another hitting doing anything.
  17. The bullpen is decent(not great). The offense is abymsal again..although it's improved incrementally over last year.
  18. Not anytime in the near future.
  19. 16 straight scoreless innings.
  20. In the moment, it feels terrible that we are throwing away the run prevention in the name of sustainability, long term, flexibility, low risk contracts. It's mind numbingly boring and a bad product. Hopefully a few hitters can do something.
