Pretty fun segment here on NFL network... Long story short. Holmes gets offers of the following... Tennessee offers #11 + #41 + 2024 2nd Minnesota offers #23 + #87 +2024 1st Houston offers #12 + #73 + #104 + 2024 2nd I believe all of Anderson, Carter and Wilson are off the board at this point. McCourty who played the role of Holmes turned down the trade offers and took Witherspoon (I'd hate that personally, not the Witherspoon pick necessarily but turning down those offers). It would be between Tennesse and Houston for me. You get more picks with Houston and that 2024 2nd could very well be a high one but two 2nds would be really enticing. The Vikings can F off with that offer.

If Stroud's floor was Goff or Ryan, he'd be a generational prospect. He's far from that. That's most likely his ceiling, a top 10 NFL QB but not an elite NFL QB. I'm using that pick as a trade chip if he drops to 6, have little interest in taking him.

It seems like somewhat of a consensus is starting to form IF rumors are to be believed, that being Young, Wilson, Anderson and Levis likely going top 4 with some rumblings of Paris Johnson going to the Cardinals at 3. Either way, again if rumors are to be believed, it seems like Stroud could quite possibly be there at 6 which creates an interesting trade down possibility.

I think there's a parallel because Carter is showing a lot of immaturity with his choices just as Jamo is. This recent incident just might reinforce that they can't afford to burn another high pick on another potential problem child. Then again, they knew about the gambling incident BEFORE meeting with Carter so maybe it won't make a difference.
-
I think it might because there were some red flags with him as is with these little immature moments leading up to this with the diva behavior in Green Bay, the apparent poor practice habits and the Lamar to Detroit tweet liking extravaganza. I know if I was GM, I wouldn't trust this kid to be a long term solution.
-
They're not picking Carter now, no chance. If they were wavering before, this puts that to rest I'd think.

It was nice to be out of SOL for a few months. It's a few months of good times that I'll never forget because now we're back. Of course it had to be Jamo of all people. The player on the Lions with the most character question marks and arguably the player they're relying on the most going forward to ignite the offense is doing more knucklehead things. This kid just feels like another "what if" in a long line of Lions "what ifs". Overreaction perhaps but he's been on thin ice as is and I'm conditioned to always think the worst as a Lions fan. Now this changes the draft strategy on multiple fronts I'd imagine. They'll probably be forced to take a receiver sooner now and I would think that Carter is completely off the board. Don't need any more bad PR or risk taking on high picks, that's for sure. Just wonderful

Fox was a successful head coach for two franchises and his work with the Giants is well documented. Apples and Oranges comparing him to Patricia. Fox is a good defensive mind and a good experienced voice to have in the ear of Glenn just like Dorsey is for Holmes.

The Warriors will win in 6. The Kings had a glorious chance to put them away with Draymond out and let them off the mat, missed opportunity.

I'll guarantee right now, and bookmark this post, that Holmes trades up. I think the most likely trade ups are back into the 1st round using the 2nds and/or into the 4th using the 5ths. He's going to consolidate those picks and go get a guy or two on his board that he doesn't think will last to his spot, plus the fact that the Lions roster is already pretty loaded as is and his propensity for trading up (wanting to trade up) historically. I think quality over quantity will be the gameplan

Vegas knows more than you might think. They were the first ones to call Walker as the favorite to go #1 and people scoffed at it then they called Banchero (don't know if you're an NBA fan) to go #1 the actual day of the draft and people were like WTF? and look who went #1. Vegas knows...something.

There's not any real scenarios that are "bad" for the Lions but I would say the most preferable are somebody 7 or lower trading up to 3 to take a QB making it a run of 4 QBs in the top 4 with Anderson or Carter guaranteed for the Lions (this seems least likely). The other is that Houston passes on a QB (ideally taking Wilson) and Indy takes Levis leaving Stroud and Richardson for the Lions to use the pick as a big trade asset or take a swing for the fences with one of the QBs (preferably the trade down). This seems to be the more likely of the two scenarios but still unlikely to happen. I think what ultimately happens is that Houston bites the bullet and takes their QB now in Stroud, Arizona takes Anderson, Indy takes Richardson, Seattle takes Carter leaving Wilson, one of the top CBs or whoever for the Lions. Not ideal but not a disastrous outcome by any means.

Campbell runs this thing. I like Johnson too but I think the impact some think will happen when losing him is grossly overstated.
-
Yes he was and I never understood it. Rattler was actually the most hyped and, conversely, Pickett wasn't even on the radar. Generally, I agree with what you're saying in that the next class is always better than the current one. This even goes back to the 2009 draft when I remember a good portion of Lions fans screaming for them to pick Curry over Stafford because Bradford will be better than Stafford so they can wait to draft him.
-
That's actually true this year although last years' class was arguably the worst ever for QBs going into the draft so not much of a bar set there.
-
Different type of player but Jamo is taking the Chark reps. I'm sure Jones will get his fair share of snaps but I think Jamo is the guy they expect to be the #2 receiver. I don't even consider Jamo a part of last years receiver group so it's essentially St. Brown, Chark, Reynolds, Raymond, Kennedy? last year vs. St. Brown, Jamo, Jones, Reynolds, Raymond this year. Depth is actually better but a longer term solution is probably needed, an X receiver that can go up and get the ball ideally.
-
I'd actually be surprised if Wilson even makes it to 6 at this point. He's the Travon Walker of this class, with production. Teams love these guys with elite physical traits, just a big batch of clay of potential to mold with Wilson. Even if the rumored destinations of Houston and Arizona pass on him, I'd be surprised if Seattle passed on him as he's the exact type of player that Carroll falls for.

Some QB extensions are no brainers, Hurts qualifies. If Goff leads the Lions to a Super Bowl with MVP level performance then his extension will be a no brainer.
-
There was no reputable source that validated that #6+SGA for #1 rumor.

OKC has a phenomenal development program, one of the best in the league, but I was referencing their "war chest" of picks. They've been able to accumulate them because they've had star/superstar assets to use to acquire them. Same with Houston, Utah, San Antonio and Orlando to a lesser extent. Weaver's best assets were broken Blake and Rose.
-
Yeah, people talk about OKC and Houston with their war chest of picks (throw Utah in there now too, Orlando as well) while the Pistons don't but the reality is that Weaver didn't have multiple stars to trade for a wealth of picks while those franchises did. Regardless, quality matters much more than quantity in the NBA so the Pistons just need to hit with a few of their prospects and they'll be off to the races. They need some lottery luck too.
-
It's a good low risk move for Atlanta but people are acting like they traded for Ramsey.
-
It was a top story on ESPN, Falcons fans (on a message board I checked out) were over the moon. "Former 3rd overall pick Jeff Okudah got traded" as if this was a guy who just got drafted 3rd. This was a depth CB that got traded. I think some people see that he was drafted highly and assume that he's this top player but I can understand the lack of knowledge about the players because who really cared about the Lions before they started biting kneecaps halfway through last season.

The whole argument for taking a QB, outside of rookie contract, is "raising the ceiling". Well, you have a QB in Hooker that is many years older than their current QB was when he led his team to a Super Bowl and made multiple Pro Bowls so what you're getting with Hooker if he reaches his potential is pretty much what Goff is at his best and he likely won't even hit that level for at least a few years because of the injury and then having to get familiarized with the offense etc. then, guess what, it'll be time to pay him soon after. In the meantime, you pretty much wasted a pick in the win now window that could have been used for a Day 1 starter when the NFC is there to be had. I've said that I'd be ok with taking him with one of the 2nds but I'm starting to backtrack on even that because it's only a 4 year rookie contract so I'm pretty much taking him off my board completely. I'd sooner gamble on the upside of Richardson who has the potential to be a "ceiling raiser" than settle for Hooker and I'd rather not do that either. If the Lions were in position to take Stroud or Young then maybe but these guys afterwards are just too risky with a potential reward that is a remote chance of happening.
