Both of these guys would be solid five year players. High Risk, HIgh reward. But you pair them with Jobe and Skubal, you could potentially have four #1's.... Not to mention the pitchers behind them. It's time. If we sit on our laurels and do nothing, I don't think we make the playoffs next year. I still think this past season was a mirage..... Man I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

Well, thoughts? Is it time to go continue rebuilding? I mentioned a few months ago about trading Larkin... Does it make sense? Part of me thinks they are just ho hum with a lot of B level prospects on the horizon and not many true "game changers". Is it time to trade Larkin and whoever they can for some A level prospects? Or just stay the course?

So I'm just gonna say it. I think we were lucky as all get out this year to go as far as we did. If we run back this team with 80% of the same players, I think we miss the playoffs next year..... Having said that, I really hope we improve, especially on the pitching side. Buehler and Flaherty are my top 2 and my dream would be Corbin Burnes. I'm still amazed the Orioles didn't swing for Skubal and after they got bounced, I expect them to LOAD up on pitching this off season via trade (or else I think their GM will get canned if they don't perform well through the season, or if they get bounced in the first round of playoffs again next year). If there's a way to pluck one of their top 5 guys, we need to explore that. Even if that means shipping Vest, Montero or Foley (or literally anyone on our staff not named Skubal)..... Although in all honesty, I'd still be open to moving Skubal for the right price (don't worry will never happen) but I think this year just earned him a 10 year contract from the Tigers...... But seriously though, we need to do this right. Our team has a bunch of B level players and I hope this season wasn't a mirage but I fear it could have been. (I really hope I'm wrong).

I was happy to see this writer thinks we have Edge position and the Center of the future on the practice squad. That's some depth I feared going into next years draft that we'd have to pay a premium for.....

I figured I'd start this now that the 53 man roster is now "complete" so to speak. Is this where the Lions start trading out of the first round for two second rounders then consolidate their later picks? Are we at the point where we have more players than we need the picks? I notice a lot of teams are cutting even 5th round draft picks. Maybe we trade back next year out of the first and get two seconds then use the three seconds to address WR, Edge and IOL. Those are pretty much the only long term needs. I trust Brad to draft. Barring injury (and I know things change), we don't really have too many long term needs. After next year it might be time to start heavily investing in the lines again.... But we should have at least two years of stability there for the most part especially if Manu and Mohagany pan out.... Thoughts on that?

Well, throwing this out there as well. Because we seem to be in nomans land, how do we break out of it? Is it an option to trade Larkin? If we don't make the Playoffs, what has to be done?

So I'm in a strato-matic baseball league. Obviously we go by pitchers stats from the previous year. Well if a player pitches 200+ innings, usually we could pitch them on three days rest. I bring this up because as time has gone on, the number of 200 IP pitchers has drastically reduced. I think last year there were like two when 15 years ago there was probably 20-30/season. Nolan Ryan used to pitch a ridiculous amount of innings. I'm wondering if because guys are throwing so much harder these days that it really is a different game or are younger players being protected too much which end up getting them hurt by not building up enough arm stamina.... I think that is part of the larger picture to understand.

Here's a conversation starter: Do ya'll think Lalonde is really on the hotseat? He hasn't been given too much to work with over the years it looks like..... I think he's got 2-3 years left before the hotseat.

I'd take that risk and Beuhlers Risk all day. The Risk is worth the reward. Just get the premium insurance on him 🙂
