Painter would be in our top 3 if he was in our Org. You can compare Painter with Jobe. I don't think there's one person here on this forum that will trade Jobe for Duran......
-
A good defensive 3B can reaaaaaaally help a pitching staff.... Don't underestimate that. If he takes away 2-3 hits per game, that's a great add. Hayes is the best there is...... There's a reason Austin Hedges has been traded almost every trade deadline for the last decade. Defense matters even if they can't hit a barn......

Holy Crap! Twins are asking Phillies for Andrew Painter for Jhoan Duran...... If Dave Dombrowski pays that, he needs to be fired instantly..... Would you trade Jobe if he was healthy for Jhoan Duran? I sure as poop wouldn't. The twins better be adding a heck of a lot more than just Duran if they are getting Painter back....... These prices could be ASTRONOMICAL this year......

Great deal for both teams. I think the Pirates flip Rogers again. But they also get Stafura who has a real shot at starting at SS. He should shoot up some rankings after this year.

K so I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I proposed I was told by numerous people (and I tend to agree) that we shouldn't trade Rainer. I was just proposing value wise, this is what it'd take and I think a lot of people thought I was nuts. This was posted today on mlb.com: https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-trades-that-should-happen-2025 Guess I was a little light? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔. The article is right though, that it does just make too much sense. I agree with the board. Trading Rainer for a #3 SP and a closer for two years probably isn't worth it..... But I do think that'd be the going rate unfortunately. If we could swap Rainer for Liranzo or Briceno, I'd do that deal. But in three years, McGonigle, Rainer and Clark up the middle.... sheeeeesh. Good core.

I guess we'll find out in 48 hours. If he's traded, he's netting a top 100 prospect.
-
Again, I'll be shocked if Suarez gets moved for a non top 50 prospect. He'll at least get a top 100.

Recent 1st round picks still have value. Jung could take off and be a respectable player. I don't think anyone views him as a superstar. But if he hits .280+/.330+/.450+ .... That's quite a bit of value there. Heck he'd be a top 3 player on our team..... Thats what teams realistically expect from him.

That's one way of "taking out the competition".......

Can you really fault him though? All three had proven track records. Cobb was signed to quite a rich contract. I think he was worth taking a risk on, but we knew he'd take some time. Hopefully he comes back for 1/2 of Aug and all of Sept/October. Even if they need to move him to the BP.

Posted this in the throw around ideas thread. Looking more and more realistic each day. (Please note general consensus is no on our end because everyone loves Rainer). Tigers get: Mitch Keller K'Bryan Hayes David Bednar Thomas Harrington Pirates get: Rainer Lirizano Hamm Vierling (Not sure if we'd have to include Ty Madden to balance this out or not)
-
If Harris pulls this off, he'd never have to buy a beer, car, meal or spend a dollar in the state of Michigan. Especially without adding Jung or Rainer to that deal....... Briceno may get us Suarez alone. But not all 3. (And that's reaaaaally stretching it that Briceno has enough value to net Suarez......)

Here's Bowdens article: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6515156/2025/07/25/mlb-trade-deadline-scenarios-yankees-dodgers/ Reds reunite with their former third baseman Reds get: 3B Eugenio Suárez Diamondbacks get: 3B Cam Collier, RHP Chase Petty, LHP Adam Serwinowski Just to give an outside MLB Perspective. Cam Collier is #56 right now and Chase Petty is currently #98 on MLB.com's prospect ranking. So, he thinks teams would essentially trade two top-100 prospects for Suarez. Again, until it happens, not saying a GM would actually do it for sure. But an outsider looking in with a lot of baseball knowledge seems to think the Value is worth two 100 top prospects and another (Serwinowski is Cincinnati's top LHP prospect too). Quite a haul if something like that were to happen.

July 25: Padres made blockbuster trade proposal to Red Sox involving Cease, Duran (report) The Padres, who have had reported interest in Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran for months, proposed an offer to the Red Sox for the 28-year-old that would have sent starting pitcher Dylan Cease, catcher Ethan Salas (MLB's No. 21 prospect) and another prospect to Boston. However, according to Sean McAdam of MassLive.com (subscription required), the Red Sox "quickly rejected" the deal. Boston Red Sox are phaking Nutz....... They must reaaaaaaaaally love Teel. Crazy. Salas lost some helium this year, but this kid is a frickin stud... Let alone getting Cease. Duran is an average left fielder.....

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread
AlaskanTigersFan replied to IdahoBert's topic in Detroit Tigers
Keaton Winn went on the IL early in the year with an "undisclosed" injury too. No media reports what it was. He just came back..... I dunno if MLB teams are just not disclosing some injuries for some reason....... -

Where'd you get these stats from? That's really cool to look that up.
