What’s Vest? What’s Holton? Foley is certainly not perfect or the ideal, but he’s been solid and not deserving of all the angst.

This is being way overstated here. He k’s 7/9, not all that egregious, and opponents hit .228 off of him. He’s a solid option if he’s healthy.

I wouldn’t look at errors with a young player; look at his range, how quickly and smoothly he gets in position to receive the ball and make all the throws. Look at his overall athletic ability; speed, agility, explosiveness, arm strength. From that point of view, he’s looked pretty darn good.

The usual, talent and upside, he may earn a shot though.

They wouldn’t cut Sudfeld, and leave an open roster spot, if they wanted to keep him on the 53. Maybe the practice squad.

Cut Sudfeld, after cuts put Iffy or Martin on IR, resign Sudfeld to 53, after 4 games and Iffy and Martin are ready, someone else will be hurt.

People focus too much on stats with developing players. Here’s a guy with some natural bat to ball skills, but some flaws in his swing that were inhibiting his progress. In a year and a half, the yankees reworked his mechanics and then LA took a different approach. You can’t just incorporate these types of changes overnight, it takes time to build muscle memory. You always have to take a step back before you can go forward. If he corrects his flaws and stays with it consistently, you may have something.

Let me note that he’s just 21, was a 3rd baseman as an amateur, so he’s relatively new to catching. His arm is above average and he’s fairly athletic for a catcher. Give him time.

Need to see how severe the tear is. If it’s a partial, it could only be a few weeks, if severe, six months.

It’s true prospects often don’t work out, but what people fail to mention is proven, veteran ball players that you acquire often don’t work out either. Baseball is a cruel mistress. Which underlines the fact that sustained success likely comes from a deep pipeline that can overcome the inevitable failures.

You can say a lot of things about Tork, but lazy and lackadaisical are definitely not among them.

Sure, but he’s not “Tork insurance”. As a catching prospect he’s rated very highly, if he were first base only, he’d be ranked very low.
