  1. Are the Tigers possibly holding Keith back to manipulate his service time? Not even sure how that works anymore.
  2. It's ridiculous that Carpenter has 12 at bats against left handed pitchers this season. He's clearly one of our tougher outs. At least give him a chance to develop against left handed pitchers.
  3. I don't know. The whole whole self pity schtick doesn't play with me. I have heard it for too long with the Tigers. Staying healthy is skill. Boyd pitched a total of 150 innings the last three years. I don't blame the Tigers for signing him but I am not going to buy into a pity party they throw for themselves either (or that Monroe and Shep throw for them).
  4. This pick is as easy as the Torkelson and Mize picks (even those have not exactly worked out in our favor). You take whoever falls to us between Crews, Langford, and Skenes. We are very fortunate to be in the top three. The only way the pick becomes difficult is if two of those three to fall to us.
  5. If you want top talent on the free agent market, you are going to have to overpay. Jerami Grant does appear to be the ideal fit for us right now. It sounds like the max for him for the Pistons is 4 years, $174 million. That seems absurd to me for a guy who is not an all-star but it might be worth it while we still got Cade and Ivey on reasonable deals.
  6. I don't think Ausar's shot is as broke as people think. He may not shoot a good percentage next year but I am a long ways from writing it off completely long term.
  7. Any James Wiseman takers? Would love to add another pick in this range.
  8. Always fun to read too much into the interviews. Something about Scoot rubs me the wrong way. Bilas compared him to Russell Westbrook and I have a feeling he may be like Westbrook in multiple ways. Ausar didn't look too excited. Hopefully, that's just his demeanor.
  9. Happy with this. The Pistons are desperate for defense. Hopefully, he and Cade together can light a fire under Ivey to play some defense.
  10. Doesn't like they are calling Ausar. So probably not him.
  11. Or maybe now. Seems like most mocks had Amen going to Houston. I don't think there is anything close to consensus on who Detroit is going to take.
  12. I'll probably drink the kool-aid no matter who they draft but I am hoping for Ausar Thompson at this point.
  13. Don’t hype Hendricks too much. He may work his way into not being an option for us.
  14. I am not sure #2 or #5 is much different for us. Scoot was not a fit for us. So we would have had to draft him and trade him. Obviously, I'd prefer 2 over 5 but the real miss here is not getting #1 and only one team was going to win this lottery.
  15. Is this two years in a row we got screwed by the lottery? Ivey was number 5 as well and I would imagine we had one of the three worst records last year also.
  16. If he touched the plate, I think he was safe. But there is no angle that shows he for sure hit the plate.
  17. Javy might have bailed the third base coach out there with an amazing slide but we got to stop running guys into outs. I said this last night too. If the throw beats a runner by a few steps, it was a mistake to send him.
  18. Cabrera should be getting one start per series…if we are going to play along with this farewell tour. Now that we are winning, it’s even more important to minimize the number of his at bats.
  19. We are getting thrown out at home by too many steps too often. It has to be a closer play than that if you are going to send him.
  20. It seems like we keep getting burned by left handed hitters this year down at the bottom of the zone. That's the sweet spot for almost every one of them. If you are going to throw it down, you need to bury it.
  21. Do we lead the league in close wins? Feels like every win we get is a nail biter. Maton and Carpenter have really made their hits count this year.
  22. Hard to believe a player would need to be benched to improve his focus but I wouldn't put it past him.
  23. I don't know if there is statistical data to back this up but I get the feeling Greene is trying to hit for more power while sacrificing batting average and plate discipline. He's taken some cuts this year that seem a lot more sell-outish than what I remember seeing from him last year. This mentality is fine for Carpenter. Maybe even Torkelson. But it doesn't seem the best use of Green's skills to me.
  24. That's why you leave Carpenter in the lineup against lefties. Not only does he need the practice to be an everyday player long term, he is one of the few decent hitters in this lineup.
