So they must use pure cap space to sign him again. There is no going over the cap to keep him. The Pistons do not have his early Bird rights. EBR let you go over the cap in a more limited manner than normal Bird rights. But they don't have these either. The blue highlighted cells are cap holds. They are something required for free agents. Once the Pistons renounce THJ they will get that $24M cap space back. But until they do they are sitting at $171M next year on a projected cap of $154.6M. So with THJ they are roughly $17M over the cap. They can renounce his free agent rights and get that $24M in cap space back. That would leave them at $7.2M in cap space. So they could give Beasley his cap hold ($7.2M) + the $7.2 in cap space they also have. So the most they can give Beasley is $14.4M next year. Anything over that they cant sign him without dumping some salary. These numbers are always off a bit. So this is just ballpark stuff.
