  1. a run would be good here
  2. Parker is Joe DiMaggio like in center field, but Joe the janitor at the plate. What a shame.
  3. Unless you are in the Tiger lineup
  4. Probably a good idea to pull Skubal. Intense game, threw 99 I think. He might have been gassed.
  5. After looking at upper 90s and then junk, you are going to all dicked up timing wise.
  6. Most are, there is only one Skubal. I would throw a junk baller at them.
  7. The guy is amazing. We are so lucky.
  8. WOW! Just wow. Now, gentlemen, a few more runs and let's seal this deal.
  9. The ball Polonco hit foul...Skubal had to think: wow, that was close.
  10. Yes, you have to go up there with a plan. They should read Ted Williams. He was kinda good.
  11. They have watched at least 3 or 4 balls that should be in the cheap seats.
  12. Benoit! I forgot about him. He drove me nuts.
  13. I can't imagine all the horse**** you would have to do to make one of these place go live. Not only the red tape, but the design, infrastructure planning, construction, to start up. Has to take years.
  14. To be fair, some of the pitchers dicked around too much as well. We are here to play baseball, let's get at it.
  15. Yep. True story, but it dates me. I live in the middle of Indian country. About 2 hours from the stadium. We had baseball connections and could get the best seats ever. Of course this was the old cavernous stadium. In those days we would buy a dozen or so seats for all that wanted to go, right behind the dugout less then 10 rows up, and one was for a keg size cooler full of beer. That is not BS. You could do that back then.
  16. And the stuff they are eliminating (like signs) are part of the game, and should be, as it has been since when baseball was what it once was. Same thing with the electronic strike zone. The way the ump is calling the game is part of the game, and can be taken advantage of. As a pitcher, you know what you are getting that day, and what you aren't. Same with the hitter. It is, and should be, a very cerebral game. But I must admit, I don't really have a huge issue with the pitch count. I do remember the guy who played for the Indians who they called the human rain delay.
  17. It is a hard game, very humbling too. A good hitter fails 70% of the time. You have to wonder in games like this how much the pressure does to these guys?
  18. It's all kind of crazy. In the simplest form, if you study the pitchers (and we have replay now FFS) you can find something to tip you off as a hitter. I'll die on that hill. Years ago we worked on how to NOT tip your pitches. Pitchers used larger gloves to help hide when they changed their grip. Same with the move to first and so on. There is always something to pick up on.
  19. I haven't looked into in recently, but at one time, at least 5 years ago maybe, they were suppose to build a chip plant down around New Albany, Ohio. Doesn't sound like much is happening there either. Another that needs a bunch of electric and water. Columbus isn't that far away, and they need water too. I don't know where they think/though they will get it. But I haven't followed it that close.
  20. Polanco says hold my beer. 🙂 I's plunk his ass.
  21. If I was a wheel in the Tigers organization, I would have our very own communication system so we control all aspects of it - most importantly - security. There may be rules though. Would love to know more about how it all works, as well as the strike zone stuff.
  22. Thank you! I had no idea this was going on. Wow! That explains a lot. So this guy (Naylor) who was suppose to be tipping off the batter, would only be able to give him a hint on location? Not to start a brawl, but I will go on record and say I don't like it (the electronic stuff). 🙂
  23. How does it work? I honestly have no idea. I don't even know what to search for. Speaking of that kind of stuff. I was looking at this electronic strike zone stuff and how it works. I'm sure the subject has come up here. It sounds like they are using some really trick high end cameras to establish the zone, with each hitters height pre-programmed. Is there a link/site that goes into any good detail on how the technology works?
  24. I have been absent for quite a few years so I have no clue what pitch com is or does. I'm very old school so I am used to fingers. 🙂 For the record, I don't like the way many catchers setup today, or how they frame pitches. The game has changed so much I feel like an alien.
  25. Neither do I. It's part of the game and fun as well. My high school kids were like vultures. They loved it.
