  1. Not lazy. I have better things to do with my life. I post on here when I am bored. And if what goes on a Tigers message board is that important in your life, it has been a complete and utter failure.
  2. ...or you can go back and read about how it was an amazing signing yourself. I have better things to do than go back and find all the posts and quote them to satisfy you. Quite frankly, I don't care.
  3. I think Valdez is going to have a rough season with the Tigers infield defense and lack of range, especially if Baez isn't at shortstop...not Zimmerman bad, but it'll show.
  4. Obviously, you haven't read some of the posts on here.
  5. Let's be honest with ourselves. People on here think Verlander is going to be the ace of years ago. He's more likely going to be Charlie Morton from last year. Dude is 43 years old, will spend half the season on the IL and half his starts are going to be really ugly. It isn't an amazing signing other than nostalgia. I'd prefer they spend on a 3rd baseman or corner outfielder/DH.
  6. I was 5-11 and 175 lbs as a junior in high school and met Whitaker and Trammell. Trammell is listed at 6-0, 165 lbs and Whitaker at 5-11, 160 lbs. The weights might have been correct but I was at least 2 inches taller than Whitaker and a good inch taller than Trammell. They were more like 5-9 or 5-10.
  7. Framber looks like he is on the Miggy workout routine
  8. Mark Prior and Kerry Wood. So much potential but then Dusty Baker was their manager.
  9. Nomar would have been a shoo in hall of famer. Only ARod was better in that era. He was an elite glove, 30 hr power, and a great all around hitter.
  10. But Albert Belle was a lot better baseball player than Bo Jackson. It's not even close. Both had hip injuries early
  11. True, but shoulder injuries are the kiss of death for a pitcher.
  12. Nope. 13 million to be their #3 starter
  13. They aren't paying him 13 million to hang out in the bullpen and be a spot starter.
  14. He hit 99 home runs in his career. They need to bring him back...chase for 100. It'll be just like watching Cabrera try to hit #500. Kind of.
  15. I'm hoping they can sign Tom Brookens and Johnny Grubb for the upcoming season. Those guys never got their retirement tour.
  16. I think Albert Belle is the ultimate what could have been.
  17. They aren't going to get much for one year of Mize.
  18. 13 million. Yikes. That's a lot for a guy who will be hurt half the season and get shelled in half the games he pitches in. Might as well have brought back Paddack and Morton And they lowballed Skubal at 19 million.
  19. Mlb doesn't make anything simple.
  20. True, but when there is action it is a lot more exciting than baseball, plus there is a time element associated with football...towards the end one team is hurrying up, frantically trying to score. Baseball players have never in the history of baseball tried to speed anything up. Football also does a lot better job of marketing their product. Plus, a channel like the RedZone was ingenious. It wouldn't work for baseball. And football plays 17 games, so each game in football is super important. Baseball...not so much. Players are marketed much better in football. Baseball...People who don't follow it might know Ohtani and Judge and not a lot of other players. I played baseball in college and loved to play, but it isn't super exciting to watch on TV. I personally think that nba basketball is unwatchable and hockey can be tough to watch because it's hard to follow the puck sometimes. And I watch the red zone
  21. I think they will watch highlights on YouTube or some other app. That's what has happened to the NBA. Their ratings are awful in the USA. China loves the NBA. Maybe baseball will have to do something similar and focus on other areas of the world. The USA cannot even support 30 teams as attendance is awful for some of the teams.
  22. In about 5 years all sports will be behind a pay wall. They are potentially locking out a whole generation of younger fans who will decide they'd rather not spend X-amount to watch sports when they can do other stuff with their time and money. And almost anyone under 50 does not have cable or direct TV or anything like that. Baseball really needs to reevaluate their model for the future because it's a sport where mainly older people watch. I know of very few young people that will watch a baseball game. Not saying there aren't younger fans, but baseball isn't like football, hockey or even basketball. There is a lot of standing around and doing nothing during a baseball game.
  23. Nearly all the important players from the last 2 years were guys Avila brought in. That's why I don't understand the posters on here gushing in their pants about Scott Harris. I wasn't an Avila fan, but Harris has done little to nothing to help the mlb team; things just kind of worked out. And while he has helped the minor league system, let's wait until those guys accomplish something in the majors before people annoint them as future hall of famers.
  24. Steve Howe remembers the good 'ole days getting 3 or 4 lifetime bans and 7 total suspensions.
  25. I would bet Harris manipulates the service time for McGonigle. He won't be on the opening day roster
