  1. All due respect to Verlander and Scherzer, Kershaw is the greatest pitcher of his generation. Going out while still a competent player. I wished Cabrera had retired about 4 years before he did.
  2. Walking Martinez was inexcusable. Putting a guy with a .229 avg .630 OPS on without challenging him? He went to 3-0 on him with Ramirez on deck. Just pathetic
  3. How about giving Deivi Cruz another chance?
  4. The problem wasn't Ramirez, it was the walk to Martinez, a .229 hitter with a .630 OPS. Why not go after him instead of putting him on base to bring up a guy in the midst of a hall of fame career. In all likelihood, the worst that will happen is Martinez gets a double if Melton goes after him.
  5. The Twins don't care about baseball, and the Braves are playing for roster spots next season. The Guardians and Tigers could be tied going into their series next week. I have zero confidence in their offense and bullpen. Plus Morton gets a start...going to be tough to win that one
  6. It's probably my fault. In a whim, I put $20 on the Guardians.
  7. And the walk to Martinez was a back breaker. Why do relievers have to average a walk an inning? To a guy hitting .229 with a .630 OPS. That's inexcusable.
  8. The bullpen didn't want to start a new trend of being effective. Why break precedence? Great idea to walk the guy before Ramirez comes up to bat. And the walk to Martinez royally screwed the team over.
  9. Skubal did his job, now it's time for the bullpen to come in and walk a bunch of Guardians.
  10. One more inning for Skubal and then it's bullpen time.
  11. End of the season stats can help. Look at Matt Olson, 14 for 28 with 5 HRs.
  12. Actually, in the 80s, the Tigers kept SPs in the minors until usually age of 25, Eric King being the real exception. They were conservative on bringing them up. Even Steve Searcy who was their top pitching prospect didn't really pitch much in the majors until he was 25. I have a feeling Smoltz would have been in the minors until he was 24 as he was getting rocked in the Tigers minor leagues.
  13. Verlander has allowed 3 ER in his last 31 IP, with 28 k and a 1.03 WHIP. Pretty sure he'll pitch somewhere in 2026. 265 wins...I can see him trying to hang on in an attempt to get to 300. Long ways away but he has the desire. He'll be 43 next year, which is getting into rare territory. The 3 greatest power pitchers all pitched for a long time. Johnson pitched until he was 45, Clemens 44, Ryan 46. Verlander takes good care of himself so I could see him going for a few more years, especially if he doesn't price himself out of the league.
  14. It's okay. Charlie Morton is on the roster. No worries.
  15. It's weird that Cade Smith throws 8 pitches and they are all strikes. Is that allowed? I thought it was a rule that relievers had to walk at least guy an inning
  16. If you are speaking about Paddack, the word good should never be used as a modifier in the same sentence.
  17. Remember that time when relief pitchers came into the game and didn't walk a bunch of guys?
  18. If Skubal isn't his normal self and the Tigers get swept, they will only be 3 up in the loss column with the 3 M stooges, Morton, Montero, and Mize facing a super hot Atlanta team. In the last 5 games the Braves have outscored their opponents 39-13 and Olson is a one man wrecking crew. If they can take one out of 3 against the Braves, they should consider themselves lucky. The Guardians are playing the Twins who long ago stopped caring about playing competitive baseball on a consistent basis. They could literally be tied going into the last Cleveland series of the year. If that's the case, I can see them just rolling over and getting swept.
  19. If they don't do something, the Guardians will be 4 back in the loss column with 4 head to head matchups
  20. From 2022-2024, Kurtz was a top 5 hitter in college and the last two seasons, the best hitter. For the rest of 2024, he was the best hitter in the minors In 2025, he was the best hitter in AAA, just turning 22. Since he has been in the majors, he is a top 5 hitter. Only Aaron Judge has a higher OPS. I think I'll take the chance that he's going to be a superstar. People on here are already saying McGonigle is basically Rogers Hornsby....
  21. Kurtz will be a perennial MVP candidate for the next 10 years. Already the best offensive 1st baseman.
  22. At least the bullpen kept their reputation intact.
  23. I'd pitch around those two sluggers too.
  24. Good inning for Morton. Only allowed 1 run and 2 baserunners.
