  1. If you think Spencer Turnbull would return something in a trade, I guess....
  2. Not calling anyone specifically out, but Candy really wasn't some tower of power and strength last season. And before that he was simply just adequate with marginal power. He had a .217 BA with a .633 OPS in 2022. Sure, he's having a decent season this year, but I am not sure how you could pencil him in for anything but slightly better than his 2022 season. If he was playing this year at a 2022 level, many of the same posters would be saying how Harris dodged a bullet by getting rid of him. Harris probably assumed that Nick Maton would be slightly better than he was this season and at least play up to a Candy 2022 level.
  3. Just release Turnbull. What is the point of keeping him?
  4. Honestly, Candelario was awful his last year in Detroit. How can you really pin your hopes on a below average power hitter at a power hitting position with a .633 OPS. It isn't like the Tigers cut loose Nolan Arenado or Manny Machado.
  5. Such a bad girl Loves to work me over time Feels good (ha) Dancin' close to the borderline She's a magic mountain She's a leather glove (oh) She's my soul It must be love She's only seventeen (seventeen) The girl she gives me love like I've never seen She's only seventeen (seventeen) Daddy says she's too young But she's old enough for me Kip Winger is gross.
  6. Pinch hitting for a guy who has two home runs? Smartest guy in the room syndrome.
  7. Bo Schembechler was a disgrace to this organization and the U of M. He fired Harwell, but even worse he enabled a doctor to sexually abuse many people at the U of M. The guy is just as bad as Joe Paterno. Even his own son wants to wipe him from his memory.
  8. Wait...isn't Nick Maton on the roster? What else do you need?
  9. It probably has changed but the Tigers are usually the last to know about anything new going on in the league.
  10. Either don't want to bring up a young guy who isn't ready or they are so pathetic they are manipulating service time.
  11. It demoralizes them so much they decide not to score any runs.
  12. And Tatis...and Machado...and....
  13. Predict the Faedo line: 2.2 IP, 8 ER, 7 hits, 4 BB, 2 SO. Kind of almost what is the point of even playing today?
  14. Because AJ is smarter than everyone else. Fans see what we see, but AJ understands things so much more than any of us that trying to comprehend what goes on in his mind would be like an everyday guy trying to beat Usain Bolt in a sprint. The guy is a freaking genius and I don't think anyone ever could question his strategic acuity. We are playing Old Maid and he is playing Star Trek 3D Chess on a Spock level.
  15. Pete Rose played from 1963 to 1986 and Jamie Moyer played from 1986-2012. Moyer pitched against the Reds in 86 but Rose didn't play that game.
  16. If it is just two guys in the same game, in 1980 Minnie Minoso played in a game with HOFer Harold Baines. Minoso started in 1946 and Baines retired in 2001.
  17. Does your game have to be a hitter vs pitcher or just any two players that were in the same game?
  18. I wouldn't take Parsons because the career of a pass rusher isn't as long as that of an elite OLineman. If you are talking about what they have done so far, sure, but long term, no way.
  19. You have to trade them something of value. Really? A 3rd rate, middling starter, and a up and down relief pitcher.? That won't get anything of value in return.
  20. I don't follow college baseball, but never really got the Nick Madrigal love. He's 5-6, no power, really can only play 2b (even though he is playing 3rd but that seems like a total waste).
  21. No way is Juan Soto being traded. They gave up so many prospects to get him, they would never get back anything comparable to what they gave up. I could see Al Avila making a trade getting rid of someone like Soto for 4 third rate middling prospects, but not San Diego.
  22. It's too bad that Carepenter, the teams' best hitter, is not allowed to bat against guys that throw left handed. But, you know...smart manager...
  23. Casey Candaele's mom wasn't allowed to play in the little league mother-son game because she hit the ball too hard and they were afraid she would hurt one of the kids.
  24. I am in favor of 8 five team divisions where the regular season is expanded to 200 games, and the top 4 teams in each division make the playoffs and are seeded 1 through 4 and then play each other in a best of 9 series. It reminds me on how the NHL was when I was a kid: 21 teams and 16 playoff teams.
  25. I have been really down on Torkelson since his MLB debut but I think he is going to turn it on for the rest of the season. Has a hit in 11 out of last 12 games.
