That sounds about right. Tork never had been able to hit professional pitching. But what else can they do? They picked him #1 and he is 24. Give him the rest of the season on Toledo. What do they have to lose?
Send him to a minor league team and let him hit without the pressure of facing mlb pitchers. Maybe just let him DH. Getting your 24 year old former #1 pick comfortable hitting is the #1 priority.
Why is the brain trust so intent on seeing Torkelson fail? He has had zero success this season and has zero confidence. Things aren't suddenly going to turn around. Send him to the minors and let him work on his swing, approach, etc.
To me, this just further shows the incompetence of Harris and Hinch.
I can see them trying to move Flaherty, parts of their bullpen, and maybe Canha, Vierling. They won't be adding anyone. By next year's deadline they will looking to move Skubal.
I assumed Vierling would be on the pine tonight. That seems to be the way hinch operates.
On a side note, this is going to be a good game for fans who love strikeouts
At minimum 22 Ks combined by both teams.
Not at all. I am just not A Know It All.
Hater? I don't recall saying since a 23 year old making his mlb debut didn't dominate the opponents that he will never get another chance ever in the majors.
If you are 23, can hit 96, 97 mph and have decent offspeed stuff, you are going to pitch in the majors somewhere.
From my one game watching him, he seems to have at least similar stuff of not better than Casey Mize
You're right. Every pitcher who eas ever decent in the history of baseball has been lights out on their major league debut. Thanks for letting us know how dumb we are.
I know he has Parkinsons. And that affects his announcing.
You enjoy listening to him? He has a job that requires him to speak and at least sound like he cares about the game. He can't do the job. I guess by your argument, the Tigers should only let players go when they want to retire. I know he can't hit but this might be the only thing he looks forward to...keep him on the roster.
Gibson's announcing makes baseball about as exciting as Joe Buck's announcing makes football exciting.
Gibson has no energy, no inflection in his voice. My god he is awful.
