The Tigers got their one win. I think that constitutes as a success. They've won 1 series out of their last 5. Besides. I think you are going to see a lot of winning 1 game in the series for the rest of the year. When Maeda is on the mound, it's just like waving the white flag before the game begins. With Mize, the Tigers need to score at least 5 to have a shot. It's tough to win a series hen 40% of your staff has trouble keeping the other tram from scoring.

I am not sure about Greene. He might want to go to a team that throws money at him or a team that has a chance to win. Keith...who knows if he'll even be around because of not producing

2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion
tiger2022 replied to LongLiveMaroth's topic in Detroit Tigers
The career of a mlb player is short and fleeting. Most of the offensive guys on the Tigers dont offer much to keep them. I know people hate Baez, but he at least plays great defense. I know he makes a lot of throwing errors but he also gets to about 100 balls a year more than most guys. -

I don't think saying all the terrible players on the roster won't be on the team in 2-1/2 years is some revelation. -

He'd have to improve a lot for his bat to even be average at first base. They'd be better off just letting Torkelson have a shot at it again next year. -
Flaherty isn't going to get as much back as a lot of people on here think. Some people make it sound like top 10 mlb prospects. He's a rental for a few months. Maybe a mid level prospect.

2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion

I still don't get Keith at 1st. Why make him learn yet another position. He also is one of the bottom hitting 2nd baseman so he should move to an even more premier hitting position? -
I question it. He is making a nice bit of coin by trotting out bargain basement sale players and then trading them ASAP. It's one type of business model but it sucks for fans.
-
The problem is they are wasting their pitching. Skubal will be a FA after 2026. Why would he want to stay with this organization? I doubt if they even offer him anything because they won't even be close money wise. By the deadline next year or even this off-season he will be gone.

A slow build...although the rebuild was finished. This must be an addition to the wonderful house they've built. Most young players that suck turn out to be career minor league players, insurance agents, or end up working in the Home Depot.
-
What? A team that can't hit isn't suited to a particular ballpark? Who would have thought. I think that was a blatant insult at the brain trust of the tigers.
-
Skubal will need to shut out the Phillies to have a shot at a no decision tonight. has it gotten that bad?
-
So what? Signing guys just to trade them is such a loser's mentality. Wasn't the rebuild over? If they don't watch it, they will lose close to 100 games this season.
-
Well I guess you told me. Either you love the crap that is out there or you are no fan. I humbly ask for your forgiveness because you are a true fan.
-
Maybe the math says 7%, but in reality, common sense should narrow it down to 0%. There is no realistic possibility this trash roster makes the playoffs. They have nothing to look forward to. Flaherty and Skubal are going to be traded. Flaherty this year and Skubal by the deadline next season. Olson probably can't wait to get out of Detroit. Mize is a bottom of the order guy. Tork and Keith aren't going to be anything special. I imagine they will probably trade Greene by next season too. A horse-bleep owner and a horse-bleep franchise. If the owner doesn't care about the quality that is out there, why should we care about supporting it.

Mays batted 5th quite a bit so it isn't as strange for him to get as many ABd in the 2nd inning.

The tigers will end up losing 100 games this season.

Hinch is proving, that without cheating, his managerial skills are on par with his mlb hitting abilities. The sad thing Hinch's career OPS at .636 is higher than Torkelson, Keith, Baez, and Rogers this season. That shows you how awful these hitters are.
-
I just don't see this front office finding someone even half as good as JD Martinez from the scrap heap. Their talent awareness is on the low end.
-
Because Hinch has more years on his contract and Ilitch isn't going to pay two salaries at the same time foe a manager.
-
There isn't any one else to try. That is the price of handing the organization over to someone as incompetent as Avila. The hitting coaches are a low hanging fruit, but a hitting coach can only do so much. They can't just make someone have talent. You can give the greatest chef in history rotten meat and just a lighter... and the food will taste like bleep
-
I really think they have a great shot of losing 90+ games. They would need to go 38-50. 38 wins sounds very tough with the garbage hitters. All it takes is Skubal losing his confidence, maybe Greene getting injured and Flaherty traded. Face it, if the pitching isn't lights out, this is an easy 100 loss team.
-
This is the problem with putting out a steaming pile of dog crap on a nightly basis. Fans just tend to lose interest. I know growing up, the team was always so bad, I just didn't care. Even people who are fans are starting not to care. I don't think Ilitch cares because he is making money off TV contracts, and all the financial breaks he gets from owning the team. It's short sighted thinking but it is what it is.
-
I don't know if ilitch wants to spend or not but he handed the organization over to a Matt Millen incompetent level GM in Avila. He set the franchise back to the bottom level it could be at. Hinch is responsible for what happened with the trash can just as much as cheaters like Bregman, Altuve, etc. He was there, knew about it, and was supposedly in charge. And whenever he talks about accountability, it rings as completely hollow and hypocritical.

Lopez is pitching for the Braves. I'm not sure about the Braves' bullpen, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Tigers end up with 1 or 2 hits today. Skubal is going to have to be near perfect. Even one little slip might be one too many.
