  1. Hinch overmanages and suffers from the smartest guy in the room syndrome. Like him or not, ilitch isn't eating his salary. And how much does a manager really affect wins and losses? I think a guy can lose games for you but not really do a lot to win them.
  2. Mike ilitch owned the tiger for about 15 years before he tried to field a winner and they probably had the least amount of wins in that time period among mlb teams. I was in high school and college during that period and had zero interest in following them. Why would I waste time on such a terrible product. I catch parts of games but that's about it. I am about ready to care even less now. Chris is no different than his dad at the beginning of his tenure except he is super cheap. I expect to hear the organization banging the drum that they need a new stadium soon and us tax payers will need to pay for it. I expect Flaherty to be traded before the all star break. And Skubal will be shopped too. And they aren't going to fire Hinch or Harris. Ilitch isn't going to be on the hook for multiple salaries at the same time.
  3. I don't agree with that. Mize still seems like a rookie and pitches like one. Mize just doesn't have the stuff to be an above average pitcher. He doesn't have a swing and miss pitch. He seems like a younger but poorer version of Kent Maeda.
  4. Methinks his wizardy only comes out with garbage cans.
  5. Which is silly since he never played 3b in college. A few games in the outfield and the rest at first
  6. I didn't have anyone in particular but Mize seemed very underwhelming. Average fastball. The only reason I didn't feel tork was a good pick because he played 1b. You can find decent 1st basemen anywhere. So to me, he would have needed to be top 3 in the league foe that to be a good pick. I mea , they could still turn out to be average mlb players which isn't horrible, but they really needed to hit on the tork pick
  7. I thought you could only find guys like Mize and Torkelson that high in the draft.
  8. Had he been a Yankee he would have won 3 or 4 more MVPs
  9. Where do teams find guys like Bobby Witt Jr. Certainly not high up in the draft?
  10. I don't know about that. I am too lazy to see how many years his contract is for but I can't imagine Ilitch wanting to pay 2 GMs or 2 managers at the same time.
  11. I was only thinking they would get more for him if they traded him with an extra year of control. I am 95% certain that the guys who were supposed to be the core of the offense are going to be basically what they are right now. Time to rebuild again.
  12. Do you think the Tigers trade Skubal by the all star break next season? I kind of feel like they are going to be throwing up the white flag by the end of this season.
  13. As opposed to the Tigers who watch the first pitch go by right down the middle because that is mandated by the coaching staff
  14. Mize is a middle of the pack guy. His stuff is average at best, and even out of college had an average fastball with little movement. He supposedly had amazing off speed stuff, which has yet to show in the majors. How he went #1 overall is beyond me.
  15. Lots of people drop out of college.
  16. What? You can't just let a left handed batter hit against a lefty. Not gonna fly with Hinch in charge.
  17. I have a ridiculous amount of 1989 baseball cards. Thank goodness they only printed about 30 million of each player. Can't wait to sell them all and spend all the money I get in return.
  18. I think another issue was that no one would call their teammates out for actions like Gibson and Morris because they would be ostracized. It was probably the same reason why UM, Penn St, OSU, MSU coaching staff who knew what was going on with their doctors/training staff pretended it wasn't happening--it was the good ole boys network. Entitled people know they can get away with stuff and they will not face any consequences. Basically, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
  19. What could go wrong with bringing Cisnero in?
  20. Thank goodness we have the smartest manager in the league pulling the strings for this team.
  21. If you think Spencer Turnbull would return something in a trade, I guess....
  22. Not calling anyone specifically out, but Candy really wasn't some tower of power and strength last season. And before that he was simply just adequate with marginal power. He had a .217 BA with a .633 OPS in 2022. Sure, he's having a decent season this year, but I am not sure how you could pencil him in for anything but slightly better than his 2022 season. If he was playing this year at a 2022 level, many of the same posters would be saying how Harris dodged a bullet by getting rid of him. Harris probably assumed that Nick Maton would be slightly better than he was this season and at least play up to a Candy 2022 level.
  23. Just release Turnbull. What is the point of keeping him?
  24. Honestly, Candelario was awful his last year in Detroit. How can you really pin your hopes on a below average power hitter at a power hitting position with a .633 OPS. It isn't like the Tigers cut loose Nolan Arenado or Manny Machado.
