  1. Zach Neto is going to be that guy that always destroys the Tigers.
  2. It wouldn't be a problem but guys like Mahomes are always fake sliding or fake going out of bounds and then he runs up the field for another 5 yards and when he gets barely touched he reacts like he is in a car crash. Some QBs slide early and don't have any problems, but d-bags like Mahomes has ruined it for the other guys.
  3. Possibly. But over the last 20 years, other than Paul Skenes, you'd be hard pressed to find a rookie pitcher who performed anywhere near to those projections. Even Kershaw and Verlander, arguably 2 of the top 20 pitchers of all time, weren't even close to that type of a season their rookie years.
  4. Judge, Grisham, Stanton, Bellinger, Dominguez. If he isn't going to be starting, it doesn't make sense to bring him up.
  5. True, but sending out Skubal sure gives you a lot more confidence to end a losing streak than hoping Flaherty, Mize, Paddock, or Morton can throw a somewhat competent game.
  6. The Guardians are +4000. That would be a much better bet from a risk/reward aspect, but 6 games is really tough to make up in 48 games, and they would actually have to make up 7 games to overtake the Tigers. I have no idea how tie-breakers work in mlb.
  7. Thay's why you would get terrible odds. I just looked, it's -7000. You would need to risk $7k to win $100. One of the worst bets I could imagine. They are just one star player injury away from a potential 5 or 6 game losing streak.
  8. You would get terrible odds on them.
  9. Only 6 games ahead of Cleveland. Is it time to worry yet? If the Tigers go 23-23, the guardians will need to play 30-18 to catch them. That's tough to do. But playing .500 seems tough to do with the Tigers pitching. If they blow the division and miss the playoffs at least they still have all those prospects...that's the important thing, right?
  10. And there it is... What does that have to do with Detroit having high homicide rates? A minority might not be safe in the deep south, therefore Detroit's homicide rates don't matter. Brilliant. But your emojis really drive home the logic of your argument.
  11. Usually Detroit is in the top 5 annually for homicide rate, along with St. Louis, Washington, and the other usual candidates. People can claim its amazing and super safe, but like all big cities, if you go to the wrong part of town, you're asking for trouble.
  12. Sure. That's why there is like 100k abandoned homes in the city, even with them tearing thousands of them down before they had the Super Bowl a few years back. No urban decay there.
  13. The have the stupid shootout thing in hockey and, I think, soccer...never watched it. A home run contest is just as preposterous as those.
  14. Number of crimes is a terrible way to measure crime. Philly also has like 4x as many people as Detroit. https://getsafeandsound.com/blog/most-dangerous-city-in-america/ Here is a random site that has Detroit 5th. https://freedomforallamericans.org/highest-murders-in-us-by-city/ And this random site has Detroit with the 4th highest homicide rate. Philly is 12th. Not that I would feel safe walking around aimlessly in either city. They are both very dangerous cities, especially if you go to certain areas of the town. You really shouldn't go wandering around any big cities unless you know the area.
  15. Philly has a huge music tradition. Detroit is the poster child for urban decay and is known for its violent crimes.
  16. So basically a bigger version of Detroit?
  17. Suarez is no joke. Dude is a top guy in the league.
  18. Then no one will want to deal with you. Good luck being like that.
  19. Play an extra inning. If it still tied, have a home run contest. Why not?
  20. You have to give up something to get something back. I would suspect that the majority of GMs like it when the deal is fairly even and works for both teams. That way you get a reputation as being fair. I'd much rather deal with someone like that than a guy who is always screwing people over. But you also don't want to be like Avila, some pathetic schmuck way over his head trading quality players for spare parts and awful prospects just to say you made a trade.
  21. .358 avg, 301 HR, 1.010 OPS, 127.3 WAR, 9th all time for batters. McGonigle would be the greatest player, other than Bonds, of the last 50 years. Never heard of Eric Longehagen, but just from that comparison, the guy must be a bleeping idiot.
  22. Tork was always going to be the 1st baseman. There was no way any mlb team would ever go into the season with Colt Keith as their starting 1st baseman. Never in any rational universe.
  23. The Angels and Athletics will be tough, especially having to travel to California against the A's.
  24. Well, I guess there is always that.
