  1. I dropped Bryce Harper and picked up Spencer Torkelson on my Fantasy baseball team.
  2. Passing Manny Ramirez in runs. This guy is one of the most underrated players in the history of MLB. It is amazing that guys who did Roids like Oritz, Bagwell, IRodriguez, Piazza, etc. made the Hall of Fame and someone like Ramirez doesn't even get considered. Personally, I don't have any issues with guys who used steroids getting into the HOF, because 80% of the players in the league were probably juicing. I always had Cabrera ranked slightly behind Ramirez as a comparison when he was in his prime.
  3. I used to think managers didn't really have that big of a part in deciding the outcome of the game, but I now know a bad manager can lose a bunch of games by horrendous lineup construction.
  4. I think the GM will always be hamstrung by the penny pinching ways of Ilitch.
  5. Because it is inexcusable to have a guy hit from the same side of the batter's box as the pitcher throws. Why would you want someone who might be on the team for the next few years to get some at bats in that situation? Gotta have the platoon because Hinch is the smartest guy in the room.
  6. Aldred sounds like the name of a James Bond villain.
  7. I highly doubt a team with such a lack of talent has to fix games in order to lose. They are perfectly capable of losing without any shenanigans. In fact, the team has a lot more wins that I thought. I was thinking they would be down where Kansas City would be.
  8. "Rickey ain't playing in some independent league. Why would Rickey want to do that?" -Rickey Henderson.
  9. Mentioning Pud Galvin, made me think of the single season GOAT, Old Hoss Radbourn. His 1884 season. 60-12, era+ 205, 678.2 IP. You know when you gave the ball to Old Hoss, you were going to get his bulldog mentality. In a perfect world, the award for the top pitcher should be named the Old Hoss Radbourn award.
  10. Traditional triple crown categories for Ohtani 10th in wins, although 4 wins from first 2nd in SOs, 12 behind 8th in ERA, 0.52 behind 4th in AVG, .006 behind 1st in HR, 6 ahead 1st in RBI, 1 ahead If he stays healthy this will be the greatest season of all time for a baseball player.
  11. Castro and Clemens would be the two best offensive players on this pathetic squad.
  12. The Pats went to the SB in 96, four years before Brady showed up.
  13. What is the rate for a .240, 12 home run a year first baseman? I doubt if he will demand big bucks in arbitration unless he improves a lot.
  14. What other options do the Tigers have? There isn't anyone in the minors that appears to be MLB quality they can put at first. Ilitch isn't going to pay for any FAs unless they are the bargain bin type of guys. He'll be 24 in August, so he is still relatively young. And it's not like Ilitch is trying to win anyway.
  15. He'll retire 2nd all time in GIDP. No one will ever catch him or Pujols.
  16. Can't Cabrera just strike out? Why does he have to hit weak grounders constantly?
  17. At first I thought it was just Miguel's home runs every year. 2023 would have been an easy year to edit.
  18. It can't be any worse than the WCF patch the Lions have had on their jerseys for the past 10 years or however long it has been since he passed away.
  19. Josh Jung is crushing it for the Rangers right now. Too bad the Tigers organization can't find guys like that in the draft.
  20. The Tigers certainly have more wins than I thought they would have at this point in the season, but I expect there will be a streak where their pitchers just go through a rough spell. They have a really quality bullpen though, and that is a big factor as to why they have as many wins as they do. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see them go through a really rough month though.
  21. On the Myers missed fly ball, you can just tell Graham Ashcraft is looking out at him and wondering why Wil Myers is even on the roster. It's not like he provides anything positive on offense and certainly isn't saving runs with his defense. He's kind of the Reds version of Jonathan Schoop.
  22. My son's school has a field trip planned to Comerica on Thursday.
  23. I can admit that I don't like or respect Hinch simply because of the cheating scandal. That's it. When he was hired, I seriously considered turning in my fandom card. I think he should have received a lifetime ban, but as for firing him, I really don't think the team sucks because of him.
  24. I really don't have any candidates. I just never got behind him because of the cheating scandal. I really don't think there is too much difference between managers. They are kind of interchangeable.
  25. Can't lose if you don't play!
