  1. They did go for the guy that was supposed to have a short path the majors with Madden. Hasn't gone particularly well.
  2. Keith did hit one well last night but was BaBIP'd. No doubt that right now he and Jung in the line-up together is putting you 2/3 of the way to the dreaded 3 man black hole line-up. And Malloy is not much of a challenge for any pitcher that simply understands you can throw him strikes and let him get himself out. Jace is looking a bit like Malloy from the left side - OPS driven by a good walk rate but no ISO. That's not supposed to be his MO so any time he'd like to start hitting the ball hard would be a good time.
  3. I think to a degree, McClellan was giving Yzerman cover arguing the team was good enough to have made it. He harped a lot about game management, but the real problem for the Wings is that even if you make the safe dump to the corner and fall back - the puck is still coming right back at them because most of them still don't fore-check worth a damn and they can't pressure the puck effectively once it gets in their end, and when the other team raises its energy level and start to press, you get 5 wings standing around waving their sticks at passing lanes hoping their goalie can make a stop because they know only way they are getting the puck back is a lucky rebound right back to a Wing. The ability to pressure the puck and take back possession when the game gets competitive is just lacking with this team - has been for years now. The rest is all just noise.
  4. Yikes! Crankshafts and rods. This could be the recall from Hell for GM. How on earth do you "inspect" the crankshaft/rods on a V-8 SUV? Maybe a specialized fiber optic through the oil filler or dipstick hole? Drop the oil pan (half a day's work at least)? And that assumes that visual inspection is even going to tell them anything useful. It's likely to cost them a small fortune. Not to mention doing a short block replacement of the defectives they find. Then fixing all the AC/Steering/tranmission/Electrical damage likely to occur in the process of doing an after market engine replacement.
  5. Jace may have been tearing up AAA pitching but he's not showing much with the bat since his call up.
  6. I think he was still stewing over Larkin - I imagine he felt 'betrayed' by him in a way - but Yzerman has to realize that he is management and Dylan is the guy dealing with the locker room. McClelllan absolutely looked like he wanted to be somewhere else and the worst thing to come over loud and clear is that Todd thinks his group is mentally weak - and you don't coach your way out of that, you need to turn over the roster. And there-in was the disconnect - Yzerman repeatedly talking about the need to win with who they've got, while McClellen talked about the guys they've got not being able to win -- albeit while giving lip service to trying to make them better.
  7. do you suppose his planners know one part of Macomb from another?
  8. Bloomberg reporting about Chinese efforts to rally the rest of the world against US economic bullying. It's so ironic to hear them using the exact same anti-appeasement rhetoric that has always been the US stock and trade when we've tried to rally other countries to support us against what we viewed as international roguery. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/xi-trying-turn-world-against-103001129.html
  9. 3k's not so good, but the other AB was a 100mph EV shot that it took a great play by Altuve to prevent an XBH so he's not completely in the dumps either. Despite the hot start, I don't think Torkelson has suddenly become a particularly high BA hitter. He'll be doing fine if he settles out around 250-60 BA but >30HR and maintains his good walk %.
  10. I've never given it much thought in the past, but I'm thinking that just like it's reactionary conservative gulf oil state money that support the Madrassa that produce radicalized Muslim clerics, there has to be a politically aware US money trail that is supporting the seminaries that produce the pastors that go out and spread this toxic theology because otherwise is hard to imagine that running schools to produce terrible people is profitable on its own.
  11. Other than DT Toronto, Southern Ontario still showing a lot of blue (con) on the CBC map.
  12. Tigers 2, Astros 1 in the game of inches
  13. With this small K zone - could be a high scoring game before it's over.
  14. well the nice thing about being a catcher is the guy in front of you is still going to leave you about 60 games no matter how good he is.
  15. well it wasn't because of the match-up. Last year Keith 0/3 against Blanco, Zach 0/4.
  16. LOL - That was a Sparky rule: "Always rest a guy when he's hot" Used to drive us all crazy but Sparky's idea apparently was that the best time to rest a guy was when he was hot because (Sparky believed) he was less likely to lose his edge with the rest.
  17. ESPN story that Altuve doesn't want to lead off - ostensibly because he he's not ready to hit after running in from the OF in the 1st ...whatever you say Jose....🙄. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44907699/now-left-field-altuve-asks-astros-leadoff-spot
  18. the can make what excuses they want, but their sponsorship clearly ran out of juice.
  19. The terminology refers to the minimum. You remove a guy or not any time after the minimum has run, but not before. The idea to enforce a minimum is so teams don't play roster games trying to stash someone who isn't really injured or other abuses. The relatively long minimum means you aren't going to put the guy on the list unless you are pretty sure you really can't use him for a couple of weeks. The only shorter period allowed is the relatively recent rule for concussions. You get a 7 day minimum there but entering and leaving concussion protocol has its own separate set of rules.
  20. Malloy is a unicorn - can't hit a lick but walks his way to 390 OBP. You'd think that would eventually come to an end with pitchers refusing to walk him - but it hasn't happened yet. As it stands, as long as they keep walking him, he's pretty valuable. Keith is getting to be the questionable one at this point. He's at 66 AB compared to Riley's 107 - IOW he's down to playing half time - and actually less than that more recently. It's one thing if they were committed to letting him play through his problems, but you can't have him sitting - he's got to play. If not here then in the other place.
  21. so - just for the sake of hypothetical argument lets assume Trump can't/doesn't salvage his voters from their buyer's remorse and isn't able to completely collapse the republic. What happens to his voters politically? Do they sour on the political system and stop voting? Will they be up for a new hero? What I don't think will happen is they start voting D. The best I think we can hope for is the 1st: Any Dem hope of recovering to a majority will be in MAGA burnout and a smaller electorate.
  22. I would guess they originally thought that Maeda and Jobe might split some starts, but with Kenta pretty hopeless maybe that does become Cobb for a while - until they see how effective he is or he can win a starting spot for himself.
  23. the tendency Skubal has to fight is getting too predictable. The FB and Change are so good he tends to lock in, but you want guys who think about sitting on a change-up to know the next off-speed they get might still be something else.
  24. Silly me, a few years ago we had new panel put in but since everything in a house was getting more efficient at that point, I saw no reason to upgrade the incoming service. I have 100A and I could run a class II 7.5kW charger as long as I didn't kick the oven into 'fast preheat' while the AC was running......🙄. I'm hoping I can get a service upgrade and have the charger breakered separately and run direct to the garage - then the existing panel could stay.
