Interestingly, when the movie was first mentioned I assumed that in reality both cars would have been old blg block iron with wet lifters that would be floating at 5500 rpm anyway - but my first take was wrong. I looked it up and you could get both the 427 in the Mustang and a 426 Hemi in a hot Chrysler build with a solid valve train so both would have been able to wind it up pretty good! But you did want the cars to sound different, and the V-12 would not have the same out of phase exhaust timing burble of a V-8 so you'd get a good contrast if that is what they really did.

The last one does not seem credible without a lot more unemployment though....Maybe that's coming. The Federal Reserve doomed the Biden presidency by leaving money too loose during Covid, they may have doomed the Trump Presidency by loosening too fast under Biden.

If you look at Torks MiLB stats, he never achieved contact rates that would properly have justified being called up to face tougher pitching. Then his success with the long ball short circuited any pressure on him to continue working on being a technically better hitter. If that's what he accomplished this off-season (which we hope!) maybe we've got the guy we should have gotten in '24. I would just like to see them play Keith at 2b at least enough for him to keep working on getting better there just because every bat is more valuable at a more premium defensive position.

Agree. I think Keith has to make a swing change before he can hit for power. It looks to me that to handle MLB pitching he's gone so compact now that he doesn't get his arms extended much - and I think that's fine for this point in his career. But it also means for now he's not your profile as a 1B. We'll just have to see how it plays out. We don't know if Torkelson continues to hit, we don't know if Torres plays D any better or hits in way that makes him more or less likely to be a Tiger next season or if the Tigers will even be interested in re-signing him - if we're lucky McGonigle streaks through the minors!

I think with Hillary there were a lot of people looking for an excuse to justify not voting for her because they just didn't like her or it was expected in their social circles that they shouldn't like her, so- having the FBI validating that 'there must have been something going on' played into that in big way IMO. What frosted me is that Obama could deflected the whole episode onto himself and left it clear for Hillary by just saying that the White House knew what she was doing (which of course had to be true anyway) and decided to give her a pass on it. But there was some weird dynamic going on there where Obama was there helping grease the skids early to get HIllary the nomination, but then left her hanging out to dry when he could have helped her. Really have never understood it. Maybe just more of Obama's "I'm above politics" act, which he suffered from to his party's detriment.
