  1. You know it just struck me: Trump is the first AI President. When he doesn't know stuff, he just makes it up out of plausably related pieces! He is the man of his time!
  2. Life is hard. He's now got Lauren's plastic surgery bills to cover, and bigger boats just keep getting more expensive!
  3. just another dementia moment that will sail past the maga voter.
  4. I generally liked Costas as baseball broadcaster. Sure he was(is) a NY slappy, but he knew the game and had a lot of history in his head to draw from.
  5. Actually, if he's shopping the idea around instead of just doing it I would guess he's not sure of his ground and is trying to gauge how much push back he's likely to get.
  6. LOL - was it you that posted the old line about the market being able to stay irrational longer than an investor can stay solvent? Tends to apply to these guys I guess.
  7. I don't recall that he did either. I don't know if the two are exactly in parallel roles in the RW infosphere, but Rogan strikes me as at least close today to what Rush was then.
  8. true. Probably only inertia at the lower levels that still makes this difficult. At some point lower on the food chain where the work actually gets done (the docs written etc) it's probably still not 'secure' enough, in the sense of Trump loyalty. Russia didn't attain that level of bureaucratic subservience in one Presidential term. Lets hope the US can't either.
  9. Did Trump ever lose Rush in his 1st term the way he is losing Rogan now?
  10. if only there were someone, anyone, in the GOP Senate that could begin to fill Howard Baker's pretty small shoes.
  11. Maybe the Lightning draw a lot better?
  12. LOLMAGA. They used to say the one advantage of being truthful is that it's a lot easier to remember your story. Trump told the tale, now he has to come up with a retcon.
  13. No doubt - I think the strategy plays for multiple reasons: There are more bases available at more points in the game to take on 1st to 3rds than by stolen base. You don't always have a base stealer on base when you need the base. More players have good enough speed 1st to third than have the sprint talent for the straight steal or the quickness to get a big enough lead without getting picked off. Base stealing requires rarer skills than taking extra bases. Pitchers and catchers can do a lot to take away the steal when they are looking for it. Outfielders are not suddenly going to get more skilled when they are challenged. If anything you take them out of their comfort zone in a way that you aren't for a catcher - who probably wouldn't be there if he didn't at have at least a reasonable game throwing to 2nd.
  14. IRod and Mike Maroth? Those were days, eh?
  15. Merrick Garland will go down as the Neville Chamberlain of the Biden Admin.
  16. Nothing worse for a bad relationship than having more time to spend together!
  17. McGonigle has been promoted twice in 600PA, three times if you count only staying at the FCL for two weeks, so it's not like he won't move a player that is showing enough. Probably more a matter of not moving players who shouldn't be just because you have a hole they can fill.
  18. the question is whether with the sell out approach he has opened holes in his plate coverage that pitchers are starting to exploit more effectively, meaning that he won't be able to maintain overall production until he makes another adjustment. the other possibility is he is nursing an injury. This started pretty suddenly. He was cruising until the 2nd game of the Oakland series and is 9 for 58 with 23 K's since.
  19. If Maybin hadn't suffered so many injuries, that trade might look a little less lopsided. Be that as it may, if you look at a trade today - it's the pitcher who is much less likely to be able to stay on the field, so even though the Marlins had bad luck with Maybin's health, today the odds are the team getting the pitcher is more at risk.
  20. but Riley's swing and miss is up ~20% from his career avg, so maybe he doesn't need to be so streaky.
  21. All pitchers today are ticking time bombs, DeGrom takes it to another level. He may help a team win a WS, he may blow out his arm for the 4th and final time tomorrow.
