Looks kind of like Cisnero's story. Knocked around the minor for long time without much success but starting doing something better in '21 at age 28 when the Tigers picked him up. His numbers from last yr at Toledo were decent but the Tigers never called him up last year.

Del Pozo looked solid in ST and hasn't shown any regression at Toledo - 0.88 Whip and only one walk in 6 IP.

he has one walk in 50 AB - he's not playing to the strength of his game. He's done a much better job of staying on FBs in the zone this year but maybe because of all those barrels early, he's lost his patience.

Hill still has to go back to Toledo for a different lotto ticket.

Oddly enough, I think he was looking for Javy to make a mistake to make an example of him rather than one of the new/younger guys - on the theory that it would be overall more instructive to all and less pressure on a player less able to deal with that than Javy.

This game was an interesting example of how bad umpiring can be without causing much ruckus. The strike calling at the plate was atrocious but he was favoring each side about equally. If you got screwed on a call you could wait for the make-up -- which wouldn't take long.....

The statement was contingent - I'm not saying Maton doesn't justify the trade, only that he needs to. I think he's looked pretty decent so far. I'm less impressed with Vierling in the field, but if he hits well that is going to be forgiven to some degree.
