  1. And the Parkinsons will really slow down Kirk Gibson in left.
  2. I tend to think the Dodgers re-sign Seager. Why would a team with that kind of money let him walk? Baez might be too much a head case for the Tigers' style Story's splits away from Coors are frightening. Correa remains the best fit and the connection to Hinch gives the Tigers at least a strong introduction to start talking. He will be hugely expensive but he is still young enough that a 10 year deal is not totally ridiculous. Your SS is your team's cornerstone. If you are going to spend money that is the place it is most worthwhile to spend it on a difference maker. If the Tigers are willing to make that move expect it early. I think the Ilitch MO is to make your pitch early and move on you can't close an early deal. I doubt they allow themselves to get pulled into a bidding war.
  3. It's funny, it felt like Garneau's role was bigger than it was. He only had 64 PA.
  4. Haase is already pretty much a butternut squash at best.
  5. Yeah - Hutchison had the out but threw it instead of making the easy tag, and that cost a bunch of extra throws- but he's a pitcher, so.....
  6. Short tries to swipe that ball and his glove hit his leg as he was going down. 🙄
  7. Great outing by Alexander. It takes Hutch 7 pitches to give up the lead. Well, we knew when Cisnero and Soto when down that the BP was going to be too short to keep up what they had been doing from Mid May to September.
  8. I hope Dylan Larkin has sent this to Tyler Bertuzzi.
  9. Sure- but I think everyone stays the same age for the whole season in the BR system so he is listed as 26 for the '21 season. I had thought he was more like 30. In any case, he's also finished the season really well. His splits against RHP used to be so poor I had at one point labeled him as a LOOGY in a game where LOOGY's were obsolete, but between the cutter and his perseverance he's turned himself into a viable starting option.
  10. 2 Achilles in the 1st 4 weeks? That is lion's luck for sure.
  11. Alexander is only 26 - for some reason I thought he was older already. So with he and Skubal you have a hard throwing lefty and soft tossing lefty. Manning adds a hard throwing righty and Mize is basically a control guy. According to the modern theories, that's 4/5 of a rotation with the variety that should make it tough for the opposition.
  12. I've been waiting all year for him to hit the wall, but the kid has been amazingly steady and is finishing well. I'm almost convinced he is the real deal.
  13. I'm guessing Jim is done but hasn't said anything because he didn't want any kind of farewell tour.
  14. 675 OPS in the 2nd half. Nice kid but you don't want Haase catching 100 games.
  15. Hens fall to St Paul 6-4, but Torkelson ends his 1st pro season by hitting his 30th HR and picking up his 77th walk. Kreidler's 1/4 means he finishes his tour with a Hens with 304 BA. Riley did not play - he also finishes over 300 for his time at AAA.
  16. yup - the NFL is about drafting and injuries. Lions haven't done well on either.
  17. actually his OPB and OPS were 85 points better with men on base this season. I don't think Miguel's apparent increase in concentration level with men on base is a mirage.
  18. I'm not unhappy, I'm just not getting on any "Michigan is back as a B10 power" bandwagons and on that point you appear to agree. The new staff has clearly cleaned up a lot of the sloppiness and they've proved aren't going to be missing Don Brown. They look a lot more like a 3 loss team than the 5 loss team Harbaugh would have been expected to field with the old staff. Among areas that hold them back I'd pick that I'm a little mystified that a team that wants to run the ball so badly has ( or at least is using) such a short playbook for their run game, that while McNamara's turnover discipline remains impressive he does waste too many opportunities with inaccurate throws. The secondary has cleaned up the PI calls against but still needs to keep improving. I was also very glad to see them get away from the 'come to the line, set, then step back and bring in a new play' routine. Not only is it irritating to watch as a spectator, but you let a D that you have back on its heals off the hook with more breathing time. one thing is for certain - the transfer portal is generating a lot more parity in the BCS.
  19. As long as he can produce 75 RBI in 130 games we don't have to worry too much about where he hits. Of course the time will come that will surely change. But it should be a natural shift if Greene (likley 3 hitter) and Torkelson (likely 4 hitter) both slot high in the order. In a lineup that has Schoop, Torkelson, Grossman, Greene, the two SH (Grossman and Candelario) and Baddoo leading off for speed, Cabrera naturally falls to at least 5 but more likely 6 or 7. But if or as long as we have the Groodrums and Castros in the lineup Miggy is gonna be 3 or 4.
  20. In Ann Arbor, on Pymouth road between town and UM North Campus, there is a wide path on both sides of the road that cycles can use, but you still see crazies out in the middle of the 4 lane. Why - because for 40 yrs A^2 has loved to put in bike lanes, but once installed does not maintain them (huge peeve.) You can lose you dental work riding on them. Within 5 years of installation virtually every bike path built in A^2 was trash to ride on and to this day only one or two have even been rebuilt. They've just put in another round of new ones, I'll be interested to see how long they stay ridable.
  21. UCLA and Fresno state lost. There will be no CA team in the rankings.
  22. Cabrera was productive for 4 of 6 months this season, and they don't have other bats that can't field vying for the DH spot so I don't see Cabrera as an immediate issue. Paredes is going to be in Toledo trying to figure out how to hit the ball hard and fair at the same time, W. Castro and Niko will be gone or on the bench so 2b will be open for Schoop leaving 1B open for Torkelson - who can give Candelario a few more days off than he got this year if Cabrera still gets a few games at 1B. It's catcher and short they have to worry about. Barring injuries I don't see big positional battles/issues anywhere else.
