Not too far back I had some numbers on team revenue - I've already forgotten the totals but it struck me that the teams with the bottom payrolls (<$70M) are definitely making money that way. My guess would be that the only teams that ever lose money in a given year are small/mid market teams that go into a short term salary over-extend like the Tigers did. The lux-tax prevents the rich teams from spending enough to lose money, the cheap teams are guaranteed enough income to make money as long as they stay cheap.

A half of peck? A short bushell? A mere stere? A non-populous pack? A compact corps? A most limited legion? -

At the elementary down the block the number of kids walking away in the afternoon is literally a few hand fulls, while the lines of cars snake three blocks down the street in both directions - so the ratio of walkers is pretty low here. -
To my mind the problem is that they are conflating different social problem under one rubric of "free speech", where they don't all fit. Which, indeed indicates they don't have a very clear headed view of what they are talking about. For instance, one issue here is that if anything, the negative reaction to a lot of what they call 'speech' is really just the natural and proper reaction to the lack of both civility, basic competence, and dare we say - sanity, on the part of too many 'speakers' demanding to monopolize the soapbox. It's more a matter of 'please stop wasting my time with your stupidity.' We need *more* social approbation of pubic stupidity lest our general descent into ignorance go completely unchecked. On the other hand, there is also the soft bigotry of lowered intellectual expectations doing its work in the argument that there are sooo many things we mustn't talk about for fear of melting the snowflakes - whether it be screening Olivier film where he plays Othello in black face or Bobby hearing about Jimmy's two mommies. At any rate, the point is that many of the things they are throwing at the wall in this piece are pretty unrelated.

they need high picks. Berggren and Edvinsson may be ready for next year but there isn't enough top talent in the pipeline.

Xi is about to have a COVID explosion on his hands, and at this point Putin has become a PR liability he doesn't need while trying to keep the skids greased for his third term. I know it blows up the conventional wisdom, but I'm thinking China really is about to throw Russia overboard. And really, it's probably just XI, I bet most of the rest of Chinese leadership would rather drop Xi's 'us against the world' paradigm - it's bad for business.

10 or 11? If it's gone to 11 and your laptop has a digital license right you should be able to back level it to 10 and that might get you back some space ... Other things you can do are disable Hibernation/Hybrid sleep if either is on (look to see if Hiberfil.sys exists as a hidden file at c:\).., and disable and delete your swap file (you don't need one if you have more than 8bg ram and don't run any monster applications). You might get up to 10gB back depending on your config..... Also go to \\windows\temp and delete everything there it will let you - also \\User\yourUserName\AppData\Local\Temp (need to enable hidden files to see AppData). Also control panel - "internet options" set your browser cache for your ms browser to something small - like 40MB. If you use Chrome, cleaning out your caches might get you close to another GB.

right - time of possession is the main effect - but as noted - time of possession and scoring usually go together, but not always. The other plus is that an offense that gets a lead and puts the other team into a forced pass orientation can also be a big help - but that's only if you have a defense that can take advantage. If the strength of your D is run stopping but your secondary sucks, putting the other team into their pass offense might be the door to a 4th quarter comeback!
-
LOL - in fact Wayne Fontes, Barry Sanders, and June Junes proved that too potent an offense makes life harder for the Defense as they end up on the field for 40min!

can you plug your TV into your computer? Or if your TV has wireless or is on your router you may be able to cast the video to it from a phone.

This pretty much adds up. Russians losing on the ground, just going to try to kill a lot of people instead.... from NYT:

Koch is a lot like like Trump but without the dark side charm, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, inherited a prebuilt fortune, believes he's a genius. An embarrassment to Chemical Engineers everywhere.

Once the Tigers signed Peralta, it made me think Matt was off the table for them so maybe it figures his signing would come quick on the heals of Willie's. Wish him well, seems like a great guy, not sure he's a member of the rotation on a winning team though. Maybe he'll be better with the patched up arm. Getting to the point where you are no longer interested in the guy who used to be the best you had is one of those things you find yourself both happy and sad to see.....

probably the first 'fusion' album I bought. Zawinul was a classical pianist -- about until he lost his hair.....

there is a more detailed article archived on Crane's if you have a subscription. https://detroitjockcity.com/2017/02/20/detroit-tigers-news-chris-ilitch-doesnt-technically-tigers/

Owners don't get to owners doing that kind of thing. Not only is it bad business, but in most cases those other business also have other stake holders that would be none to happy to see their efforts diverted to a money losing sports team.

of course there has to be hostile overseas money driving driving this. Orchestrated politics of any kind in America doesn't happen without money. In hindsight it becomes plain that has to be one of the main drivers behind the GOP efforts to emasculate every Federal financial enforcement agency. It's aimed directly at making sure it doesn't get found. And to think that back in the Cold War days we laughed at those people concerned about '5th columns'. They've gotten a lot better at it than old Gus Hall could ever have hoped.

ROTLMAO - Axios' story hook that appears at the bottom of stories was doubly appropriate on this one...."GO DEEPER" !!!

the point holds, but I'd still wouldn't call what they have a *small* war!

the thing that is so dumb though, is that you are willing to do things earlier in the astronomical day *all year*, than just do them earlier in the *clock* day *all year*. You don't need to move the clock off the actual center for the day to do that. We are just such a stupid society. -
For whatever reason, the wheels seem to be falling off.

Just read the piece. Of course the Ambassador may just be dissembling but taken at face value there was little comfort there for Putin. And I would have to think the Chinese respect Western Intelligence capabilities enough not to think they can do much to resupply Putin without being found out.

My guess is Fulmer and Soto will be fine if they stay healthy, but you have a big swing around Cisnero. He has a long high walk history and you could see that whatever magic pill was behind his new found command, it was never too far away from abandoning him again. CIsnero throwing strikes is a huge plus, but I'm not all that confident that is the Cisnero we will get. Not really all that much different than Funkhouser in that regard except Funkhouser hasn't shown Cisnero's upside so won't be as much of a loss if he turns back into a pumkin.

Awww Schucks! Maybe we'll have to just play the games! 🤔
