  1. I know this game is so out of hand it's pointless to look at it very seriously now, but there is no way that 7th TD play should have worked. MSU had 5 guys between the post and the right corner and the OSU receiver was still on the left side of the field and Smith_N ran right past all them uncovered to catch the pass.
  2. It's a fair point, but remember we are talking SS and deterioration of D may be just as bad as deterioration of O. Javy has really extreme fast twitch, he probably has more quickness to give up before his D suffers than any of the other guys. Maybe he does give up more with the bat but maybe he gives it back to you by being able to stay at short so the value proposition evens out. Obviously projecting any 29 yr old baseball player out 5 yrs is no better than trying to divine chicken entrails. All that matters is how Avila is weighing it all.
  3. LOL - Stroud has put up Cade's stats through about the 1st 6 games in one half.
  4. yeah - 20-20 hindsight is easy but if Harbaugh leaves McCarthy in his seat and lets Cade throw a little more it would probably have been the margin. If MSU doesn't put up some more of a fight before this one is over, next week might turn into a trap game for OSU though.....
  5. I have illusions about defeating OSU, but Michigan's D does match up better against them. Like Buddha said from the beginning of the season, neither UM or MSU are actually very good teams. With a little scheduling luck you really don't need to do much to get to 8-1 in the B10,
  6. 28-0. OSU putting up *2* pts/minute.
  7. 21-0. As Sir Paul put it. "I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me a win over OSU" Well, close anyway.
  8. if that's true it could suck for us because that means the market will probably end up frozen as Correa holds out for something no-one wants to give him.
  9. OSU up by 14 after 7 minutes.
  10. Exciting, wasn't half the problem, she was your 5th grade teacher!
  11. well maybe. But 20 miles is a long way in a city. Transpose that to Detroit and it puts me in Eastpoint if I lived in Brightmoor. A rough analogy but that's not exactly around the house!
  12. I'd be happy to take any of the three after Correa and Seager if you can do it for 5 yrs and I almost don't care what the AAV would be. I wouldn't blink at even 150 over 5 for Story or Baez. You can afford the AAV when you are winning. I know there is a view that money in the out years is less important because of inflation et al, and that is true to some degree, but the high salaries for guys who aren't producing ( a la Cabrera ) keep bad teams bad longer, and as a fan that is what I want to avoid.
  13. I thought I heard that Correa's 'people' have it out there that he wants no less than what Lindor got - which was 341/10
  14. Story and Baez are a fair comp. Baez hits the ball further than Story but not more often, and I'd rate Baez' arm as better than Story's - and he's accumulated a bit more Rrds. So probably you'll get a little more D with Baez but more OBP with Story. In the past I would have said that the Tigers would shy aware from a guy with Javy's personality, but unlike a Leyland or Gardenhire, I'll guess Hinch would not have a problem with a guy like Javy. Interestingly, I saw a report from a couple years back (2018?) that rated Baez and Schoop as the two fastest DP pivots in the league at that time.
  15. One thing with Baez is that he shouldn't be bothered by CoPa. He has stupid power to every part of the ball park.
  16. actually the most fun an M fan could have in a long time would be for Michigan to win out and MSU lose in Columbus tomorrow. At least Tucker could afford to buy his greens a lot of consolation ice cream...
  17. pistons made a nice late run at GSW, could have won if they had shot the long ball better.
  18. that is an interesting take. "I can't give you those dollars but maybe I can still help you get them!" Of course it's still not in the Tigers interests to bid up Correa's cost since it may drag everyone else's cost up with him, but I could see Hinch being a little off the reservation if he and Correa are actually tight - which I have no idea on either way.
  19. If the "Drunken Sailor" comment means anything at all, it means the Tigers are not going to be the team to make the top of the market, and that's where Correa is going to go. I really think there was never more than, and continues to be, zero chance on Correa. I would see the the little tete-a-tete with Hinch more along the lines of "let's catch up on what's new since I won't be seeing you this Spring....."
  20. only if you accept a very narrow set of criteria for 'best'. From a technology standpoint it is, but if it can't deliver the best public health or life expectancy (which it doesn't) that criteria is too narrow to have social value. Or say our medical science is the best in the world, which is the narrower but more accurate formulation.
  21. Ha! I was wondering the same. I would guess not. A question like that would have drawn him for sure!
  22. sort of funny isn't it? I guess Free Agency is considered the highest good in the hierarchy so if you give someone that, you have no other obligation to them - more or less.
  23. There may some truth to that, but somehow only Rittenhouse managed to invite death to follow in his wake.
  24. well, good luck with that light socket....... ....
  25. Technically he is DFA correct? That means anyone can pick him up off waivers and I assume if they do they get his arb status. But if no-one does I suppose he's a FA. --- Reading an update from Beck just now he did indeed clear waivers and he is a free agent. In Niko's case that means he will probably be looking at a minor league contract offer with a maybe ST invite.
