  1. LOL - yes that is the one saving grace for M - If not LSU then somewhere else and probably soon.
  2. The tough thing is I don't know how they get out of this anytime soon. For the reasons above I doubt they are going to fire Harbaugh - he will be here until his deal is up after next season, and they are just getting further and further behind the recruiting 8 ball with all the big game and rivalry losses.
  3. this is correct. To be brutally honest, it has only been Tucker's success up I-96 which has raised the expectations for what MI have have been able to accomplish this season.
  4. Anibal was kind of the poster boy for going from no-hits after 4 innings to down 4 runs in a hurry!
  5. they had it and they let it get away. Sounds like that will the eventual epitaph on Harbaugh's MI coaching career.
  6. well - same issue - Schlissel probably couldn't care less about the football program right about now. He's just been screwed over by the Regents. I really have a hard time seeing a scenario where he decides his last big public act is to fire Warde and/or Bo Jr. opps - that was supposed to be an edit - ended up a repost - my bad...

  8. There are organizational issues that might make it hard. Manuel would have to go to Schlissel with a request for a big pot of $$$ and Schlissel is a lame duck, he's going to prefer to punt the decision to his successor. Maybe if Manuel can line up the money himself or maybe there are a enough football fans on the Regents that one or more of them could back hiring a new coach from the board. Otherwise he probably gets 2022.
  9. /..sigh.../ not what I hoped for but what I expected - other than the amount of scoring, which I didn't expect on from either side.
  10. After watching Tyler Matzek in this series maybe we can feel a little more optimistic about Jose Cisnero.
  11. I'm with Snitker. Having a no-hitter going at the end of 5 is so far away from the actual likelihood of throwing one that even for it's own sake it shouldn't have figured in his thinking, let along that saving his pitcher to get another good start out of him is far more important to winning the Series than getting only one great start. And as has already been pointed out, he may not have given up a hit but he was not all that sharp - the handwriting was on the wall.
  12. is this just for the game Bert misses or is someone getting sent down?
  13. LOL - I'm hearing Danny Glover's voice when he walks in the bar where he meets Kline and Glenn in Silverado.
  14. You expect this from a petty tyrant like DeSantis and hopefully this will be overturned in court. As terrible as it is it does not make me as mad as the poor guy at UM who has hounded out of teaching his class for showing Olivier's Othello to his class. He probably has no recourse.
  15. I'm not sure there is ever a FA out there really worth signing for more than 5 yrs. The out year risks on guys old enough to have reached FA are too extreme for my blood. Even Lindor, who looked more a slam dunk last year than I think any of these guys do this year, has to return the lowest full season WAR of his career!
  16. what I wonder most is whether that would finally cut down on pitching injuries. They believe pitch counts per appearance are a problem, but relievers still blow their arms at a rate that doesn't seem to be any lower than starters, so if it's pitch counts doing in starters then seems to me that it must be working back to back that's doing in relievers. So I'm curious to see someone try it just to see if cuts down on blown elbows. the really outre concept I think would be interesting would be a complete shift in the game to one with essentially no full time pitchers. Pitching just rotates through the position players - everyone must throw to at 3 players but not more one inning - your allowed to have one 'finisher' to work to what ever is left of the game after the 9 starters have all thrown their requirement. with an 18+ man (maybe 27) roster nobody plays more than every other day so no-one pitchers back to back days. It would be a vastly different game - the athletes would all need to be more generalist - probably a lot more runs scored in a typical game. And there would be tons of match-up strategy for day to day lineups and inning to inning pitching choices.
  17. It still seems to me that it at some point someone has to break the model of starters vs reliever altogether and just start using all their pitchers interchangeably once through the order - or less. No-one throws more than about 45 pitches, every one works on 2 days (or more) of rest. 12 pitchers, everyone works 120 IP - approx 40 3 inning appearances. Just seems inevitable someone is going to go there.
  18. Feast or famine for the Houston bats.
  19. didn't they get in a rut last year giving up too much in games early to come back? Hope this is a one of in that regard.
  20. TV PBP for hockey is changing anyway. As the old guys that started in radio have retired it seems not many guys even try to do a real running PBP for hockey anymore. Daniels certainly doesn't. Maybe the assumption is that now that hockey is telecast on big 16:9 screens they don't really need to, and maybe they are right. I don't think any sport benefited more from wide screen TV than hockey.
  21. I don't hate Baez, but I am more leery about giving a high K guy big dollars over a long term. And he's not a guy that Ks but also walks a lot. The idea being that if he already has trouble finding the ball at 28 what is going to be like at 32? Maybe it's not true that high K/BB guys hit the wall sooner career wise - I'd be willing to be persuaded by some numbers, but that would be my biggest reservation. If you could get him on a shorter commitment.....but we probably can't.
  22. You can take political solace in those numbers if you like, but the difference between FLAs numbers and MIs numbers is that MIs were run up mostly before we had tools to keep it down, FLA ran theirs up mostly after they had the chance to do better.
