  1. I remember that article. I don't know that he was one of the best in the business. In the media guide as a part time scout. And I believe him leaving was his own choice. Although the two part time Michigan guys as of the 2023 media guide were the only ones with Michigan coverage. (The 2022 Midwest guy left after the 2022 season)
  2. Pulled together the Tigers pro scouting staffing since 2018 (when media guides are available)
  3. Pecota has Chapman at a .217/.311/.393 slash line, with plus defense, good for a 1.7 WAR (580 PA). Steamer is a bit more optimistic. Regardless, I'm not sure that's the type of guy you commit to long term. I started getting some Mike Moustakas vibes and got the heeby jeebies. If When he ages off the position, the bat absolutely cannot handle 1B/DH. The back half of his upcoming contract figures to be an albatross, and really doesn't go very far toward upgrading the offense, if that is your intent. Oh yeah... Andy Ibanez .248/.305/.376 0.5 WAR (202 PA) Zach McKinstry .222/.296/.361 0.2 WAR (361 PA) Jace Jung .226/.309/.363 0.4 WAR (251 PA) Colt Keith .241/.306/.387 0.6 WAR (294 PA)
  4. Don't get me wrong. It's about Slavery. I just had a right wing American History teacher in high school, thus I was taught the states rights line.
  5. I assume this is in jest, but in case it isn't... Should the Tigers just not make signings right before Christmas so there aren't any DFA's?
  6. The thing with Melton getting so much prospect love this offseason is I'm not sure the people doing the ranking know he left his final start with an elbow injury. That dings him in my book until he is throwing again.
  7. JJ Cooper getting the Tigers BA list this year. They must have finally fixed the glitch.
  8. In fairness to Nikki, I grew up in the north and learned similar nuanced/overthought justifications for the Civil War. Still, yuck.
  9. True, but salmonella also spreads like a mofo from contact, so handling plays a huge role there.
  10. I wouldn't say any. Cook temp kills the bacteria, but not the toxins they create. And going crazy after touching raw meat and not washing hands is its own deal.
  11. Last time I heard him talk Tigers prospects, it was rather rosy. Perhaps his pessimism the last decade or so has been validated by the results on the field?
  12. I know @oblong has brought up food safety and pot lucks in this thread before. https://amazingribs.com/more-technique-and-science/safety-and-health/food-knife-and-grill-safety/ I recently bought this guy's book, and this was a pretty good summary of food safety. But the pet peeve: going to a party and the person grilling has their burgers or chicken sitting out for an hour or two before. I don't mind playing my diet card there, and sitting out.
  13. There would obviously be unintended down ballot effects if states went too far with this.
  14. Visiting family in Detroit area and they had the Channel 4 news on. The weekend weatherman sounds like DeSantis.
  15. RIP Ryan Minor, was a manager in the Tigers org a few years ago.
  16. Wanna dabble in math? Go into the CBA/roster rules and figure out CBT or draft pool calculations.
  17. If you watch the game, they run there anyways, especially RHB. This will just eliminate the Trea Turner play, and the incentive to just peg a player in the back if he is running there.
  18. My only take on the Colorado Supreme Court is it is kind of sad a court has to make that call. I just can't see how January 2021 hasn't made Trump a non-starter for so many. Just pathetic idiocy from the right wing.
  19. I doubt SCOTUS lets that stand.
  20. True, my tongue-in-cheekness may not have translated.
  21. I went on to explain that.
  22. It does affect youth injuries. But the science points to Lee's point. Velocity higher = Elbow risk.
  23. Now, now... the broadband companies don't raise your rates. What they do is create additional tiers with higher rates that you need to upgrade to in order to handle the streaming. Either way, i forgot to mention. I upgraded my speeds in that change from Comcast to ATT. Some Smart TV's don't handle it as well as others. I had an LG, and it's built-in capabilities were complete garbage. Plug in the newest generation Chromecast (probably costs about 40 bucks or so), and it streams with no issues. So in 2023, I basically saved $1,000 for the cost of not being able to watch Rays or Marlins games.
