  1. If you go back and read the USA Today original story, a lot of the talking points in Tucker's screed were refuted in the original article.
  2. Maybe they were but once they found out they weren't #1 and moved on. By the time Eduardo spiked it, the need for pitching or the pieces traded weren't available.
  3. I went down current year fwar leaders. Isaac Paredes has spent a lot of time at 1b, 2b, 3b. Cody Bellenger has played 1b and cf depending on who is available. Ha sung Kim 2b/3b/ss. The aforementioned Betts. Nico Hoerner has played some ss this year. Corbin Carroll has spent a lot of time at all three outfield positions. Thairo Estrada plays all over. I could go on...
  4. Question: is Mookie Betts a utility player? Why is multiple position capability a perjorative?
  5. I found the policy, it is correct.
  6. Maybe the investigation wasn't exactly shining her in the best light? It is possible, and it the reports are basically her side of the story.
  7. The generous benefit-of-the-doubt attitude way to look at this is they were keeping it under wraps to protect Tracy as much as Tucker, and did act today because it went public, but did so because they know longer had to keep her protected. I could see what she would want to press the red button, given that her main witness died in the car crash earlier this year and she maybe saw the tide shifting.
  8. If it comes out that she is persuing relationships with people she is lining up speaking gigs with, Tracy wouldn't be the first social media influencer to go astray and jump the shark and rely on their following to help their martyr case. Big if, but that thought crossed my mind.
  9. Had to share...
  10. I mean, I guess it's arm related if it is tweet-worthy and bad news, right? If he tweaked a calf with one start left in the season it wouldn't be cause for concern.
  11. I know of a friend of a friend, unvaxxed, who was hospitalized last month with it. The friend caught it from the unvaxxed person and was fine in a couple of days.
  12. Yepppp. I have a point in there somewhere about the roster cost of signing veterans.
  13. Trivia! (wasn't sure which thread to put this in) The Diamondbacks DFA'ed Tyler Holton to make room for whom?
  14. Hinch never managed Lugo.
  15. The tender decision that surprised me was Jose Cisnero. I had him near the top of my offseason chop list, but he got tendered a contract.
  16. Happens every year... Toledo isn't in a playoff hunt and they didn't want to disturb the levels that are.
  17. Changed that for you.
  18. I don't know the Kirk Gibson 1983 story? I know the Jack Morris 1990 story, though.
  19. Here is an interesting thing I noticed. It does appear as if Al Avila didn't like to claim players on waivers if it meant dropping somebody from the 40 man. Of his 18 claims, only three involved removing somebody from the roster. It is like the organizational edict was to only shop the waiver wire if there was room on the roster.
  20. 😠 No Roman Numerals in the document... Anyways, the four guys I think get protected are Wilmer Flores, Dillon Dingler, Sawyer Gipson-Long, and Keider Montero. Montero may not. Trei Cruz and Roberto Campos are two others eligible. Montero needs to be added right after the season because he is eligible for free agency.
  21. Rusty Kuntz is an answer today.
  22. Fans: spend money good! Fans two years into a contract: why did you spend that money? We are stuck with this guy in the lineup? What a stupid move.
  23. I was a bit Devil's Advocatey with Avila, defending some things. For example, there is ample evidence the 2017 trades were ownership mandated salary dumps. And inheriting a non-existent analytics department at the time mountains of new data were becoming available was pretty bad timing. It is pretty clear he wasn't the person to lead a modern baseball organization, though. May have been an okay GM in the 80's/early 90's when a baseball front office was 10 people, tops. It is clear putting all the pieces together was not up his alley.
  24. Assuming a fair coin. Bayseians may claim 25 in a row suggests there may be a bias in the coin.
