  1. The Supreme Court, by and large, is sending stuff back to the states and empowering those legislatures. Dobbs, in particular... Those legislatures have extreme Republican advantages, in part due to proactive gerrymandering, and in part because Dems just don't try.
  2. No, but in terms of trade value, the teams buying right now are.
  3. Rounding error on a big league financial sheet until you are up against the CBT and you are suddenly a bit more restricted in free agency if you go over. Yes, such a small overage is also on the margins tax-wise, but it is the other penalties that kick in that I do think teams are trying to avaoid.
  4. You can re-sign him after non-tendering, but obviously it takes two to tango in that regard. As a 38-year old single person, I empathize more and more with teams when I see fanbases throw daggers at them for not unilaterally signing players. Reminds me of thanksgiving.
  5. Also, if people paid as much attention on mobilizing for state legislature elections as they did complaining about the Supreme Court every June, a lot of this would be moot.
  6. Isn't denying a marginal student college admission actually doing them somewhat of a favor since they are the ones most likely to be swimming in debt afterward? Less because they grow up poor, but more because they seem more likely to not make the grade and be left with tuition bills without a degree to show for it.
  7. Candelario is making about 2 million less than he would have with the Tigers through arbitration. Yeah, not our money, but it is worth noting that would have an effect on his trade value now vs. if he would have been tendered.
  8. All the more reason for him to play there in Toledo then...
  9. Why is it stubborn and stupid? This is being very overblown.
  10. I want to add to this having attended a few GCL games. It is not only the pitching variability but fielding as well. Routine grounders can easily become singles if the wrong guy is playing second base. And this is very common.
  11. Yep, I still stand by my fears past year's injury could be a precursor.
  12. Nope, a precursor. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29898372/
  13. Not a surprise... Flexor Tendon tends to be a precursor, and he had some issues returning.
  14. What are today's roster moves? I am imagining Boyd to the IL to clear the way for Manning, but which IL? How do they clear room on the 40 for Manning? Is Vest IL'ed, and if so who replaces him? If it is Brieske or Wingenter, how do they clear room on the 40 there? Could they get creative and bring somebody like Lipcius or Solak up and DFA Schoop?
  15. (Grabs boxing mits and heads to Ferndale)
  16. Yeah, Malone's name was one of ten on an early paper in the late 80's, but he was nowhere near the lead on that paper and punched out of the industry before they unlocked the advances that made mRNA usable/safe in humans.
  17. If getting one thing wrong is enough to discredit somebody, I can play that game with literally anybody on the antivax side. Joe Rogan, 5/14/21 claimed the COVID vaccine has microchips. https://www.mediamatters.org/joe-rogan-experience/spotifys-joe-rogan-falsely-claims-actual-microchips-are-being-injected-your Any time Robert Malone claims to be the inventor of mRNA vaccine technology, he is lying or exaggerating. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/01/11/tucker-carlson-spreads-an-already-debunked-claim-about-covid-deaths/
  18. Here's Toledo's lineups (from my sheet) the last few weeks for reference
  19. But as for Toledo lineups, Joe Rizzo has been playing a lot of 2B and 3B, so I could see him getting reduced PT or 1B time. Lipcius and JHM a bit more in the outfield (JHM has been playing out there most days anyways lately). Maybe get Maton some shortstop time. It always works out.
  20. The upcoming 40 man clearing that will be needed for Manning, Brieske, Wingenter, and Skubal may make Schoop a logical 40-man casualty with somebody from the Toledo logjam being a logical backfill.
  21. That is one. The other theory is a lot of re-org and consolidation that decreased ingredient quality.
  22. Okay, I have noticed restaurant food has gone downhill since 2020. I didn't have a confirmed case until August 2022 (after four shots), so noticed this before then. I have some theories, but one is that I just improved my cooking quite a bit in that time such that spending money on restaurant food is a complete waste.
  23. If you don't know this by now, none of the thousands of links we can send you from credible scientific sources will do the trick when you will believe Robert Malone and his ilk over them. But anyways... https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccine-effectiveness
  24. So... May we be approaching an answer to the thread title?
