  1. One additional thought: the fans response to how yesterday went down wasn't ideal, but some of the beat writers aren't helping either:
  2. They are 5-9, not 3-8
  3. At least this season, it seems like Tork takes way more heat than Riley when, in general, Tork has had a better approach and, while neither one has been that good thus far, has arguably been the more promising hitter of the two. Honestly think it's a case of how 2022 kinda set narratives around both of them.
  4. Not what I was implying. Just making an observation about how largely dumb the dialogue surrounding Grossman has been since he was traded away.
  5. Yeah, it's a little hard to understand why the pilots wouldn't have been considered throughout the process, but that explanation is plausible. As far as the replies go, I would imagine that most of our fanbase probably doesn't understand FAA regulations and that they exist for a reason lol
  6. I remember after the first game (the 4-0 shutout by McClanahan) seeing someone on the r/motorcitykitties unironically ask if anybody missed Grossman, who had hit a 3-run homer in Texas' first game... The answer was no then, and it is no now.
  7. I would be curious to learn more about what happened here, but it seems unlikely that the Giants weren't involved every step of the way.
  8. The fact that they haven't called it yet makes it seem pretty likely they will go ahead with it, although I've been wrong before lol
  9. If that is in fact the rationale, it'd be nice if they came right out and said it. Although I'm sure there's probably negative consequences I'm not considering lol
  10. I wonder how much the fact that both bullpens, particularly the Giants bullpen, have been taxed in the first two games factors into this. Risking starting and stopping the game may be less than ideal for both Hinch and Kapler knowing this
  11. Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is more about the Giants not wanting to reschedule later than the Tigers at this point. Being a west coast team playing out east and losing a game is difficult to reschedule under these circumstances. From the Tigers perspective, if I was a fan who bought a ticket I'd be pissed... from a team perspective, they played a day game yesterday and play a night game tomorrow. I dont think it matters in the grand scheme as long as this doesn't drag on too long
  12. Neither team may make the playoffs, but there's a zero percent chance they would cancel a game in April without a plan to make it up. Way way too early in the season for that
  13. Looking at both teams schedules, there's basically two days remaining this season where both teams have off days and it would feasible for SF to be close enough in vicinity to schedule a make up game: July 24 (SF in Washington prior to off day) and August 24 (SF in Philly prior to off day). Also could do it during the AS Break, but that would suck for the Tigers given that they start the second half in Seattle. It's doable but suspect both teams would just rather get it in today if they can.
  14. For sure, not saying it will be played, but context matters... if it were Game 1 or 2 of the series, or if the opponent were the Royals, I'd be more skeptical. Just saying the incentives are there to try to get it in. Particularly for the Giants who have only so many windows to be in close proximity to Detroit
  15. SF isnt supposed to come back, so they may try to get it in even if it takes a while
  16. Hey, I didn't say they were good, but they've also played a brutal schedule to start the season and, just an eye test, they seem better than the 2022 team was through 15 games. Maybe the stats tell a different story, IDK
  17. Yeah, they aren't the 2003 or 2019 team... I'm willing to lay that marker down right now as well
  18. Offensively, this team seems better than the 2022 variety even though it still isn't good. A lot less 1-2-3 innings overall, even though they have struggled in leverage situations. My too early hot take is that if they figure out the right mix and get more consistency from the bullpen, they will make it to 70+ wins.
  19. The Angels are also being hyper-aggressive in calling up Neto as well. Maybe it works out, but the headlines say as much about their org as they do about Neto imo
  20. Meanwhile, if Baltimore wins over the Jerk Sox, this team will somehow be in 3rd place in the division lol
  21. In a situation like this, it demonstrates that despite the decline in skills, he knows situational baseball. If anything, that moment today is the most ideal way to use him... even at his age, it feels like he can be trusted to advance a runner or score them more than most on this team
  22. This team may lack talent, but they make up for it in mettle.... love the effort, nice win
