  1. Impressed by Soto tonight... he normally doesn't come back on a night like last night and perform that way
  2. Wouldn't short sell the Dodgers on that front tho... they have a ton of money yet are Ray-like in a lot of ways though. Either way, the discussion about bringing home a former great to run the team is beside the point... the team needs a new vision, one from the outside, it doesn't need to look to the past.
  3. Rarely does an election shock me, but this one does. Particularly the margins!
  4. Meadows makes 4, if he stops being plagued by literally every ailment known to man But yeah. Way more questions than answers lol
  5. As an aside, one thing that differentiates national baseball media over Tiger fans when discussing this team is the fact that the national folks always seem to state that resources aren't the problem here. Ken Rosenthal even stated it in his much discussed (and praised) article on Avila's tenure. I have my gripes about Chris I and have criticized him when it has seemed necessary. But his problems and Bob Nutting's problems aren't quite the same.
  6. Griffin Jax playing the role of Mike Fulmer tonight lol
  7. Any chance they leave him exposed in the Rule 5 draft?
  8. At least Tork has a homer tonight lol
  9. Or, hear me out, maybe Avila being replaced by someone who isn't a former Detroit Athlete is within the range of possibilities?
  10. I tuned in for that half inning. Shep and CMo were really struggling to out a positive spin on today lol
  11. I believe that firing or removing Avila as GM is within the range of actual possibilities for this upcoming offseason. But the fanbase is cynical, not without reason. And it would take that actually happening for people to believe it.
  12. Well, hopefully Chafin's arm doesn't fall off this offseason since we're liable to be back here one year from now needing to deal him. Hopefully with someone else doing the job.
  13. The Robertson trade is a pretty good parallel in terms of the prospect returned relative to performance.
  14. I have nothing against Sawyer Gipson-Long and wish him success in this org. At the very least, that side of the house has Fetter and Co, so maybe they can fix him or turn him into something The ire should be directed at the General Manager. Who had multiple opportunities during past seasons to get more for Fulmer than he did today.
  15. Still find it funny they managed to find a better prospect for Norris than for Fulmer. Wouldn't have guessed that even
  16. His peripherals at Wichita are inflated, but still a FIP of 4.30 or so. The return on 2 months of Fulmer was never gonna be big, but this seems more underwhelming than expected lol. Time to get a different GM.
  17. Still think there's a chance, particularly with the Mets not having acquired any relief yet. If they don't make any moves on Fulmer or Chafin, that's another failure to add to the ledger for Avila.
  18. Where are the Cardinals btw? So much hype over the Juan Soto talks, but they haven't done much of anything
  19. Agree with the general thrust of your comment, although I'm not entirely sure the reliever market is fully settled at this point either.
  20. Good news.... he was on the Mets / Blue Jays radar
  21. Surprised at how quiet Philly has been this deadline.
  22. There always exists the possibility that they are working on a package and some of the pieces were contingent on other things happening.... (ie. Juan Soto deal, Ian Happ/Contreras deals, etc.) But it shouldn't surprise anybody at all that the Tigers, with one of the best bullpens in baseball, are left with all the pieces intact at the end of it. Which would reflect poorly on the General Manager.
  23. You'd think that does it for the Jays.... now waiting on the Mets.
