  1. Reminds of the Brieske some in that he's continually underestimated.
  2. First major league start, and stuck with that hat design? That's unfortunate
  3. This is the biggest takeaway for me, for sure. Meadows is capable of coming back and playing well, but either way it doesn't say much for the Tigers that they didn't give Paredes more of an opportunity or set him up for success.
  4. So I give you credit for being one of the few people who actually held that the trade was better from the Tampa Bay end (unlike most everyone else complaining about it), and the response is that I'm "calling you out"? Good Lord, Relax.
  5. Sure. But that deal is also much more in the past tense at this point, which if anything makes it better / fairer to reappraise the deal. With this deal, the Tigers still have Meadows under team control for a couple of more years after this one. And it seems like some talk about the guy in the past tense or if he's incapable of providing value... and that just comes across as a premature judgment.
  6. I guess Chas can claim the high ground because he was skeptical from the start, but when Jeff Riger is on his Twitter dot com account sharing every single Paredes home run when I dont recall his objections at the time, it's just trolling
  7. The President of the United States (and someone who aspires to the job again) has a much more acute impact on my day to day life than someone playing for the Tampa Bay Rays.
  8. Probably in the minority, but the Paredes discourse is pretty old at this point
  9. As joyless as the team is, the dialogue surrounding the team from fans and the beat writers doesn't help. That's reason enough alone to hope for Al to be canned.
  10. I'm not even sure the significance of this debate really, given that Meadows will be coming back soon (supposedly during the upcoming road trip if all goes to plan) and that Baddoo seems to be going in the right direction in Toledo. And with Grossman still on the roster. I dont know that there's room for either of them in the medium-long run.
  11. I understand. But you said he hadn't hit above AA, and I dont believe that to be accurate given that he did so in a roughly 35 game stretch last year. It hasn't manifested itself as much this year, but he has hit above AA. I'm not passionate enough to get into a debate over it because, after all, we are arguing over guys who will likely never end up more than bench players. But of the two, up until this week, I would have said I'd rather see Cameron. Willi appears to have improved enough where it is more of a coin flip now.
  12. Mayer cooled off some but has had a couple of good games beginning in August. Jordan Lawlar is better though. Either way, I'm with you in that I'd take the troika over Boston's haul in Rounds 1-2 last year in Mayer and Jud Fabian (who did not sign and went back to Florida).
  13. Kinda harsh, Cameron had a .865 OPS in 36 games last year for the Hens. Also had a few big hits and defensive plays for the Tigers during his stint earlier in the year... I would like to see more of him, although with the re-emergence of Baddoo, he looks a little more blocked these days
  14. Lipcius continuing his tear across the Eastern League
  15. Now 3-3 with a double, 2BB and an RBI tonight They'll probably wait, but he's about ready
  16. Fulmer, Jimenez and even Soto all are qualified statistically. It sucks that its still just relievers, but if one of those guys are picked, it'll be warranted
  17. Exactly. Hinch sometimes makes game decisions I dont like, but in terms of managing the roster at a higher level, Hinch knows his players better than any of us do and I trust his judgment in how he handles the roster.
  18. During Spring Training, our fanbase continually grouped him with Greene in suggesting that it would be insane for him not to be on the Opening Day roster. And now? We are declaring him a bust. Shit, he smacked a missile in this game and people still appear to be suggesting he needs to head down I-75. He will be fine. I am fine with him getting ABs at this level and learning major league pitching...
  19. They are also 2/100ths off of 3.0 runs/game, which seems like an accomplishment with how bad they were pre-Greene. It's unfair to expect him to single-handedly raise the level of play for the team, but clearly they are a better team with him versus without
