He asked the question. Again, Chris I's response made this a bigger story than it needed to be. It is what it is.

Bob Wojnowski asking one question about the Tigers was not going to detail Lalonde’s press conference. To the extent the question got any attention, it was because of the answer Chris I gave.

Will the last member of BoJo's government turn the lights out?

Flores and Madden seem like decent bets... with Madden, I remember one of the Pipeline guys last year on their podcast (can't remember if it was Callis or Mayo) suggesting he could be one of the earliest 2021 draft picks to make the major leagues. Nothing he has done to date suggests otherwise.
-
My understanding is that there will be a much more comprehensive rerank in August after the current draft. They kinda qualified this rerank in their accompanying article
-
They did catch Cleveland at the right time, but in general, they have been playing much better ball since Riley has gotten here. The losses against Boston and losing 2/3 to KC have obscured that to a degree.... the team is better than they were when they started 9-23 and when they were going 13 games without hitting a homer. This series against Chicago coming up will be a good test.... they have also had a tough stretch, but some good starting pitching scheduled in the series upcoming.

LOL, how bout them apples? Clemens is about the last guy I'd expect to take Clase yard

IMO, it's really a case where, had Chris basically said that the results thus far were disappointing but we're working to correct it, it would have generated almost no news. His response generated far more and, subsequently, was quite negative.

James Quarinchak in.... make him pay!

Another poor route from Willi in this game lol
-
Not sure if this classifies as "chasing", but hard to remember a time they had this kind of success against Bieber
-
I've been short Miguel in terms of being an All Star because of the lack of power, but I'm coming around on it lol

Yikes Willi

That's kinda what I was waiting to see. The fact that he didn't comment on legal options is a red flag.
-
The Reds did take Nick Quintana for Tucker Barnhart, and the Tigers did get Reese Olson for Daniel Norris, so maybe there's hope. My thought though is that, post deadline, they need to figure out a way to move on.

If there wasn't a legal basis to deny an FOID card, that would clearly suggest an issue with the law more than anything else imo. And I'm not clear that there are steps that were missed along the way that would have led to that basis. At least from everything I've read to this point.

lol

The Firearm Services Bureau, which is part of the Illinois State Police. But again, we don't actually know whether didn't do their job! There has to be a legal basis for a government agency to deny an FOID card, otherwise that agency risks ending up in a lawsuit or being sued.
-
FWIW, here's a comment from a Lake County attorney quoted in the Tribune: https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/criminal-justice/ct-highland-park-gun-trace-20220706-3z6krxp2irb4pi7cj6y3ak3r4e-story.html Setting aside the comment about ISP's Firearm Services Bureau being bureaucratic as hell (that's Illinois for you), when you cut through the noise, there might not have been a legal basis based on law for denying him an FOID card. That suggests less a failure of "government agencies" and more that current laws need to be looked at and strengthened.
-
Yeah, probably better to take a wait and see. I guess my point is that, while it's a terrible look for ISP, I don't know that we have enough information at this point to know whether, legally, there was a basis to deny Crimo III an FOID card. That kinda nuanced view isn't gonna work in the world we live in though.
-
As an aside, I also love how Archie blames "government agencies".... is it that hard to call them the police, or do you have to turn in your "blue lives matter" card the moment you criticize law enforcement?
-
From the article: Maybe buddha or someone who understands Illinois law better can interject, but I don't believe the Illinois State Police legally could have just denied his application for an FOID card without an actual arrest on his record. Maybe we'll learn more information, but the villians in this case seem to be the family, who largely seemed to circle the wagons at critical junctures when Crimo III interacted with the police, and who decided to sponsor Crimo III when he was eligible to get an FOID card.

Hope Vest didn't make it all the way to Omaha before having to fly back lol

IIRC, the scuttlebutt at the time of the trade was that, from the Rays' perspective, Meadows was coming at a higher cost in future years and that clearing him out would create room for Josh Lowe. (Who thus far hasn't performed well at all, but that's neither here nor there) I do think that they liked Paredes, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten him in the trade. But along with all the conspiracies about how the Rays "knew" something was up with Meadows and they needed to dump him on an unsuspecting buyer, there is a lot of revisionist history about Paredes role in the trade. At the end of the day, he wasn't the straw that stirred the drink, so to speak.

I don't think it's gonna happen now because I suspect he's seen, at least theoretically, as a trade chip. But if he's still treading water (or worse) later in the month and Baddoo is still stinging the ball down in Toledo, it's hard to justify keeping him on the team. I suspect they think they can get a lottery ticket for Grossman at a minimum, but IDK.
