  1. Signing a catcher seems like a luxury at this point.... particularly when they probably need to focus more on getting another outfielder (or two) and a 3B
  2. IMO, we need to see more than just 20 ABs to make a determination one way or another. Particularly when they arent consistent ABs
  3. I would add that fellow sub .600 OPS guy Jeimer Candelario is currently not a regular despite there not being "better options"... not sure what makes Grossman otherwise special, other than theoretically having trade value
  4. With Baddoo, is 20 ABs since his return (the equivalent of 5 games roughly) enough to make that justification? Personally, I dont care whether they are worse or not at this moment... theoretically, a guy like Baddoo factors into the future because he's controlled beyond this year and is only 23. Grossman is gone, one way or another, at years end.
  5. Mentioned it a few days ago, but the best blueprint involving Soto is something like the Clay Holmes for Diego Castillo/Hoy Park deal between Pittsburgh and NYY last year. Neither are blue chip, Park hasn't played much in the big leagues, Castillo has been more of a regular contributor for the Pirates. But the deal came together in part because of the depth that the Yanks have in terms of infield, and the Pirates had a need. I think they can get something useful for each of the guys, but some of the names like Andy Pages and Brett Baty? Not happening, most likely... people need to lower their expectations
  6. Or maybe Jace Jung if things go well? One imagines he could move quick if he has success
  7. His body language has been terrible most of the year, but it's definitely getting irritating at this late date. I know that the idea is to get him ABs to aid in the process of pumping his trade value, but honestly, I don't know what teams would want him at this point. And if they did find a suitor, they arent getting more than a lottery ticket out of him. I'm ready to move on... time to let some of the younger players get some major league ABs. Maybe once the deadline passes I'll get my wish
  8. 6 game winning streak looking more like a dead cat bounce lol
  9. Dan was also talking up the big Skubal-Darvish matchup on Wednesday... lol I love Skubal and all, but even if he's on his game, it's hard to imagine things going well for the Tiger bats lol
  10. I'm not done, but getting real close to going radio only for the most part because DD/Jimmie/Utility Color Commentators are enjoyable enough to keep my interest. The product on the field is garbage tho. It may be one of the least entertaining Tiger ballclubs during the course of my life. Increasingly dont care to watch
  11. This far into the rebuild, their best hitter is the backup catcher that Cleveland didn't want lol
  12. Honestly surprised they drew as many fans today as they did. Have tolerated a lot of bad baseball over the years, but I wouldn't pay to watch this crap
  13. Cisnero looks like he's lost weight
  14. Jim and Dan now discussing whether the Tigers will hit over 100 homers this season. Jimmie sounds like he's taking the under lol
  15. Now Jarvy looks injured.... Greeeat
  16. Yeah, DD is better than listening to Dick Bremer lol
  17. You know things are bad when even Shep isn't putting a positive spin on things
  18. It'll be interesting (and ultimately probably depressing) to see what, if anything, they get on return at the deadline. Beggars can't be choosers, but returning someone capable of playing 3B may be as ideal as returning an outfielder at this point
  19. You are 100% correct here... as bad as Candelario has been, tendering him for 2023 may be the best and most pragmatic move in their view. My only point for bringing it up is that, based on his overall play, they would be completely justified in non-tendering him. And as much as we think he's still better than Kody Clemens or Brendon Davis or whoever the Tigers have that is remotely close to hitting the big leagues (pretty much only those two guys; Kreidler being injured sucks), I can't say that if you gave either of those guys 250 ABs that they would be significantly worse than Candy has been this year. I like Candy and he seems like a good dude. And given all the other deficiencies they have on this roster, they badly need him to work out in the short term. But they would be completely justified in walking away at this point.
