They can't do anything about Cleveland ar this point in terms of head-to-head record, but the problems are similar with Chicago, KC and Minnesota. It'd be nice to see them exorcise some of those demons down the stretch

Setting aside the concern going forward regarding the bullpen sans Soto, this upcoming stretch (at least on paper) should be easier than the last 9 games, where they went 6-3. But this stretch is a good challenge for this club in that, while they continue to play good ball against teams outside of the division, they struggle within the division. You have four series against teams in division, including two with a Sox team that is playing less inspired ball than when they last saw them. I'd like to see them win at least a couple of these series to close it out. They've shown they can take it to some of the best teams in baseball, I'd like to see them not play down to the division.

I've been stuck on 75 as a base line, but the base line is increasingly looking like 77 or 78. It's really incredible. We just keep waiting for the shoe to drop for this team and it never really does.

He's far from being the MVP of this team. But man, has he eaten some good innings during this later summer stretch of reduced work for the young guys

I don't understand how Funk keeps getting lumped in with the likes of Joe Jimenez, Bryan Garcia and Derek Holland. He's a step below Fulmer and Soto, but even with his peripherals, he's a decent enough middle of the bullpen guy. Can't say the same about the others. In terms of who gets the back end, Lange is gonna get a look. And he has earned it with his outings of late.

As bad as the result yesterday was, it kinda makes winning in this fashion that much sweeter. It was a really nice bounce-back W for the guys

I feel so bad for Derek Hill.... he can play, but he just seems brittle

They have a ceiling for sure because of their constraints pitching wise. I've been thinking 75 wins is that ceiling as the season has evolved, but they keep pushing the envelope. Tonight is one of those games that would have been nice to put in the bank to reach that goal, but it is what it is. Move on, and try to get out of St. Petersburg with at least one W

That didn't help, obviously, I just kinda operate under the assumption that bases loaded, no out against this team, they'd be lucky to get out of that inning tied. Soto was left in a bit too long imo.

This one hurt, but in the grand scheme you are right.

That game was lost in the 9th.... they really needed to get Soto out after the walk. That said, Garcia showed little in that inning to suggest he's a piece of the bullpen going forward
