You're right, I mistyped. 500 home runs for Miggy. I was surprised to see he had a better WAR (baseball reference):for his career than Greenberg. Miggy is/was an all-time great player. I'm sure his Tiger career, the last few years, hurt his cause a bit but he was still a great player. BTW...BR has Ty Cobb's WAR at 151...lmao...how is that even possible?

Just going by stats, I would go with Kaline, Cobb and Greenberg. But opinions? I would have to squeak Cabrera in there somehow. With the Bally app, the game is about 2 pitches behind the radio for me. So listening to Dan doesn't work, I'm stuck with Craig. He needs to be controlled, he wasn't bad at all in the games Dan was in the TV booth.

Well, I'm not sure if Chris is strictly looking at a statistical top 3 or just people's opinions. Cabrera was by far the best Tiger hitter I saw in my lifetime. It's hard to judge players from a different era to today's game. Especially when we never saw some of them play. All we can go by is stats...

Yes, he has one of the better OBP on the team, lead him off and put Greene second. But his stats on this team are a very small sample size. As well as not coming thru in the clutch, not in one game but in a few. I just don't see the same thing as you, I see a dead pull hitter that constantly shows no situational skills. OK, in a small sample size. Our very best team would have Meadows leading off. If only the guy could hit...

You never know. He might start pulling the ball more and at least move a runner over. You don't need your best hitter hitting 2nd, you just need someone who can handle the bat. So far, I've seen Canha pull too many ground balls to the pull side at important, situational, times. Keith is worth trying, but so are a few other hitters. (Greene)

I meant for the hitter. Some players are more comfortable hitting is different spots. You have no way of knowing how Keith would do hitting 2nd, he's never done it at the ML level. But whatever, like I said, it really doesn't matter. With the roster Harris has built, we'll be battling to play .500 all season.

We don't know how Keith would perform hitting 2nd. Position in the lineup makes a huge difference. But whatever, the Tigers front office just wants to field a team, outcomes make no difference. We're not expecting to win.
