It’d be really nice if at least 4 or 5 guys in this lineup can get off to decent/good/great starts offensively. It’s been very deflating to have everyone hitting sub .200 with no power for the first few weeks the last few years

Just play Riley in CF until Vierling is back. Use McKinstry as the defensive replacement and move Riley to the corner if we pinch hit for Malloy/Carp/Margot. Just go Sweeney/Ibanez platoon at 3B, give Javy an honest look every day at SS, Torres at 2B and Keith and Tork at 1B and DH respectively.

I’d much rather see them embrace the orange for a city connect. The blue and black doesn’t really feel like tigers or Detroit to me. like do an orange jersey with tiger stripes and have the stripes be tire marks if you want to go motor city kitties or something. or lean heavily into the cocaine tiger from the 80s

I’m assuming Wenceel, but Malloy and Tork get kind of redundant and add nothing defensively—so perhaps Malloy. i could see Malloy starting in Toledo until Vierling is healthy and then us releasing Margot and swapping Perez for Malloy at that point unless Wenceel is off to a fast start. That way we aren’t crippling ourselves defensively in the outfield.

Apparently we’ve signed Manuel Margot for outfield depth and he’s expected to be rostered for opening day. Please come back soon MattyV

I’d rather keep Ibanez and dump McKinstry. At least there is something Ibanez does well.

I’d prefer Benetti with Petry or Pena, and Dickerson and Dirks together. I’ll miss Keats and Johnny Kane, but I would like to see more Mickey York.

It’s definitely time for Gibby to hang up the microphone, unfortunately. I enjoyed him in the booth, but the typical viewer is going to find him tough to listen to. Wish him nothing but the best. Hopefully the Tigers find ways to keep him involved- occasional tv guest, honorary assistant coach, etc. Baseball is something he loves and taking that type of thing away from an aging and sick person can be devastating. He’s done more than enough good for all of us and the organization to still have some type of regular role.

Individually compared to other 2Bs….yes. However, I think he will have more value at first than Torkelson will, and Torres will have more value at 2B than Keith plus an albatross contract 1B like Alonso would have.

I agree. but you can look at this as Keith being moved off of second…..or look at it as Torkelson being moved off of first….

Between sticking with Baez, and then Sweeney, Jung, Lee, McGonigle, Franyerber and Rainer…..Keith was probably going to get moved from 2B at some point anyway. Might as well be now.

I’m guessing- c- Rogers/Dingler inf- Keith, Torres, Ibanez, Baez, Sweeney, Torkelson of- Greene, Carpenter, Perez, Malloy, McKinstry If Meadows is a go then it gets interesting. Malloy and Tork make sense as pinch hitters for Carp and Keith…..but Perez is a lot more versatile.

Seems like the only pitching roster spot up for debate on opening day is who will be the second lefty after Holton. Chafin or Hurter?
