  1. The difference is that Obama doesn't demand that.
  2. Greeting from beautiful Detroit, Michigan! Ah, Detroit! An agreeable sight for a Michigander such as myself!
  3. But does Drew Smyly have a locker now?
  4. This straddled the era between 80s arena rock (i.e., the sound) and disco (e.g., the dangers around him).
  5. Good post, and several of the movies you listed I have seen or would like to see. But it also goes to show that the movie landscape is deeply-embedded with the genres I listed that you couldn’t provide me a counter-list of fourteen films without at least four of your titles being of them.
  6. We want to go to Europe too! We want to rent a car, drive across Europe, especially the Alps, and see some professional baseball in four different countries along the way. That’s the dream, anyway. We just decided we’re driving down to Georgia to see her nephew, who coaches a high school football team there, in October. We’ll take our time, drive through mountains, see some color changes along the way. Not a schmancy trip by any stretch, but the kind of thing we can just up and do because we have time. Retirement’s the best, especially if you’re lucky to have enough health to enjoy it, and at the stage of life, it is mostly luck.
  7. The people in the audience were well aware of what a low bar it was.
  8. Interesting you say this. I had been wondering whether Harris had built a lefty-heavy roster for a reason. After all, most pitchers are right-handed, and our right field fences are a lot easier for a ball to clear than the left field fences, which makes getting a power-hitting RHH with agency on the market a real challenge. Who wants to come to Detroit to see their home run-hitting career tumble? Then last night, I heard Dan Dickerson talk about how Harris and this front office have built this LHH-heavy roster with a purpose, going through the strategic niceties that it allows Hinch to work with during the games, and I thought, hey, maybe there's something to that. And then, this morning, I saw this on FanGraphs: And that convinced me: yup, we are LHH-heavy for a reason, and probably a good one. I'm fine with it, as long as we have at least some counterbalance, and if Tork can somehow shake his blues, Vierling sticks around and rakes some, and we can get one more starboard-side guy with a stick—Malloy? Navigato? Bigbie? Someone from outside?—we could maybe be on the leading edge of something here.
  9. I would like to see the White Sox break the record, not because I hate the White Sox, particularly—they're just another opponent to me—but because if they can lose 120+, it makes it less likely people will remember our 119-loss 2003 team.
  10. Yes, it's true you can save more per volume at a grocery store, but on the down side, you end up with two kilograms of raisins.
  11. I'm pretty sure he means end all government support for mental health services.
  12. Today's military is just a bunch of woke assholes. Ask any red hat and he'll tell you. Also, Hank Aaron couldn't carry Rabbit Maranville's jock.
  13. I've said before that an audio and/or video recording of him saying as much might be the only thing to break the spell, and even that might not be enough, because AI.
  14. It's been almost a year and a half now ... how's retirement going for you?
  15. Trump's never going to stop saying stupid ****. That's a given. The incredible part is that the red hats think he's a genius for no other reason than he is telling them he's a genius, and of course, the Russian-backed media is affirming as much.
  16. I do wonder why Larry Tenney, whoever that is, just clipped only that phrase into a two-second snippet. To me, it would have been more effective had he included the few seconds leading up to it which would confirm that it is Kamala about whom Bowman Hamel is ****-talking in the first place. Unless Bowman Hamel didn't phrase it that way and Larry took it out of context, which, that would suck and we don't need to engage in that, because we're supposed to be better than that, at least about being that obvious about it. Taking stuff out of context is for the other side. We don't need that.
  17. I feel as though 1999 was one of the last years in which the majority of movies were still based on the real lives of actual or fictional regular people, rather than being one of the group of genres consisting of sci-fi, fantasy, action, thriller, horror, animation, and superhero, many of which make up franchises. I think the dramatic growth of the foreign market, especially China, has the most to do with that.
  18. What is the amount the Tigers pay Toledo when they purchase a player from them? Also, does any money change hands when they option a player back to Toledo? These are transactional things I don't know.
  19. He's not even 70 yet. Way too young for this.
  20. Freebeacon story in a big huff because Kamala waited until she was running for president in 2019 before telling anybody about her Mickey D’s job. Not unlike Freebeacon waiting five years until 2024 to get themselves in a big huff over the story.
  21. I can’t count how many jobs I’ve missed out on because I didn’t put McDonald’s on my resume.
  22. I think it might be the Russia Supporting Billionaires Network.
  23. I don’t think it’s “Democrat policies” Trump’s ripping …
  24. An oldie but goodie.
