  1. Just think of how much we’d be winning if they’d fired Hinch and the hitting coaches! 😁
  2. I called 84, so I like my chances ever better.
  3. Andrew Chafin just got his bacon saved by the greatest home run rob you’re going to see this year. This year’s White Sox might also be the most snake-bit team I’ve ever seen.
  4. Man, Jo Adell is a ****ing train wreck for the Angels.
  5. Probably because the cops sometimes go after husbands.
  6. Don't get me wrong, I like Benetti way way better than what's his name I forget, but he needs to be paired with someone who can play off his smartassery.
  7. Dan Dickerson seems to get along really well with Gibby, probably because Gibby's not being fronted by a guy two decades younger who's trying to be too clever by half.
  8. At least until Bryce Rainer arrives.
  9. Doesn’t look like Tork is taking strike one on a pitch down Broadway anymore!
  10. There is no cup that can protect your undercarriage right in that spot.
  11. We whine about Tork, but man, does Jo Adell ever looks like a total bust for the Angels.
  12. If by "not very good" you mean not at all good, that's not true. McKinstry has been a plus defender at multiple positions, notably at second base and shortstop, and that's pretty valuable when you need help there, which we have a lot, as you know. Wenceel Perez can't help us there, and Ibanez is no good at short. So we need Zach McKinstry right now, for the time being. Plus, McKinstry has enough glove to play in the outfield at times when guys like Riley need a rest or play DH. He has value for a team that needs what he can offer, and we do have that need. If we were a playoff team, we wouldn't need him, because we'd have enough good players not to. And we're working our way toward that. So don't worry: Zach McKinstry's days here are numbered.
  13. I agree that McKinstry would not be an important player for a playoff team. In our current position, though, McKinstry is more valuable for what we need than Wenceel Perez is.
  14. I think it's at least 50-50 he shows up to camp in February. Somewhat less than 50-50 he breaks north with us.
  15. My long last name ending in "dt" is so German, there are multiple officials from the Nazi era with that same name listed on Wikipedia. Is that German enough for you? And yet, I don't remember any ex-Nazis running around Warren, Michigan during the 60s and 70s and 80s.
  16. Fun fact: for the month of August. in 59 trips to the plate, "McStinky" is slashing .333/.390/.519, good for a 159 wRC+. He has raised his batting average during that time from .175 to .213.
  17. I think Wenceel is only average bench depth for an outfielder. Great bench depth would be, he has a really good stick if bad defense, which would make him a decent fourth outfielder option if you have a strikeout artist and/or a RHH-heavy batting order in a game. He would also make a decent fifth outfielder if he had a ****ty stick but a great glove, where most of his reps are as a late-inning defensive replacement, pinch runner, or garbage-time pinch hitter. Wenceel, as currently constructed, is neither of these. He is a meh hitter who, in the field, has the range of a 24-year-old rookie but also a noodle for an arm, which makes him an iffy choice for right field. He would actually be better-suited to left field, since our left field is pretty expansive, but left is already spoken for. But, in the end, I don't think Wenceel has a place on any team that has present playoff aspirations. I think his future is either second-division backup outfielder, or starter for either a last-place team or a team hobbled by injuries.
  18. I'm not at all concerned about the wheels coming off for this team this season as it relates to wins and losses. I would be concerned if wheels started coming off in terms of injuries, or in sudden backslides in process or performance.
  19. But why bother pickng up Smyly off waivers when he is not any better at pitching than Wentz is, we have no shot at the playoffs, there’s only a month left in the season anyway, and Smyly has literally no chance at any future with this team? And this before we even contemplate that we already have two other left-handers in the pen as it is. What does this do other than make older fans who remember when Smyly once pitch for us somewhat happy for a news cycle?
  20. Have you read Shanahan’s overview on Wikipedia? Calling her a wackjob is insulting to wackjobs. You know how Charli XCX said Kamala is brat? That’s not even close to true. You know who is 110% brat? Nicole Shanahan, because, in the words of Charli herself: You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes. Who feels herself but maybe also has a breakdown. But kind of like, parties through it, is very honest, very blunt. A little bit volatile. Like, does dumb things. But it’s brat. You’re brat. That’s brat. Brat Is not a compliment.
  21. Is he great, though? Not as currently constructed, I dont think. If he improves several core attributes, especially his defense, he could be a great fourth outfielder because he does have some bat potential. That’s a tall order for most guys, I believe.
  22. I said that because I am always amused by how multiple posters, not just you, frequently name only ex-Tigers as the guys we should be trading for or signing. There are literally dozens of left-handed relievers who have a better FIP than Drew Smyly—in fact, he’s 43rd of 49, one slot worse than, of all people, Joey Wentz—yet people say they want us to trade for or sign Smyly because why? Well, near as I can figure, it’s because he’s top of mind. We remember him. He’s a Devil We Know. While we’re at it, why not reacquire Tyler Alexander? He’s 41st in FIP, better than both Wentz and Smyly, and I would bet that the Rays wouldn’t even ask for Max Clark in return. 😁
  23. Yes, that, and he’s not a first division starter by any stretch.
  24. And if the Smyly thing doesn't work out, there are other ex-Tigers we could always bring back ... Buck Farmer and Shane Greene and Justin Wilson are still out there ... the Angels probably can't use Matt Moore anymore ... Nick Ramirez is probably on his last leg with the Dodgers ... maybe the Braves will DFA Joe Jimenez ... hey, too bad Michael Fulmer is out with TJ ... 😏
  25. I gotta be honest with you: I don't envision Mize being a big part of the next playoff teams. I see him playing the Dave Rozema circa 1984 role, at best. As for Wenceel, I don't see him on that team at all.
