  1. Honestly, it's hard to take anything the Republican Party does seriously, since it is dominated by unserious performance artists, and anyone within the party who purports to be a serious statesman or -woman is an utter non-factor. The party has evolved into a malignant force against which we and the country must be defended.
  2. Back in the old days, before we were all twinkles in our daddies’ eyes, a lot of baseball corporate names would run along the lines of “The National League Base Ball Club of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Inc.”
  3. According to the story, the shooter started to say something, and the cop cuffing him at the time said, “You have the right to remain silent, dude, use it!” Why did the cop say this? Why was he so concerned about the perp talking? Was he concerned that the perp was going to incriminate himself further? I always imagined cops would want perps to blab on the spot to make it easier to convict them.
  4. Corporations are people, my friend.
  5. I see you're confused about this, but I think I can help you here. I was, as you suggest, keeping sight of the many factions in Ukraine that are ultra right Neo Nazi types. Hope that clears it up for you.
  6. I'm not sure how some of these fit in with Frank Zappa, especially the soft prog rockers, but I did listen to a lot of them in my long-haired schooldays.
  7. Middle School Marjorie.
  8. Time to call in the Waffen-SS?
  9. Tony Gwynn was also in the center of the radar before the strike happened in 1994.
  10. You're the guy who made the claim, so it's not up to any of us to put in the work to prove or disprove it. If you want us to believe your claim, you need to bottom line this for us in a clear and understandable manner, instead of pointing us toward a rabbit hole and saying, "I know it's true, look it up for yourself". If I did the same thing, it would be totally fair for you or anyone else to call me out on it.
  11. Yeah, I admit there are externalities involved, but it beats war mongering, creating potential for WWIII, and having our economy go down the toilet as a result of being cut off from the western world, as are some countries I can name.
  12. Withdrawing from the world in the way this graphic suggests would be a one-way ticket to economic depression, deprivation, or worse. We need world markets to maintain what Americans view as an acceptably-minimal standard of living.
  13. And so Baez hits a double not on the screws and not right at any people!
  14. Man, everything we’re hitting on the screws is right at people.
  15. I knew he had it in the bag the whole way. 😁
  16. This shows how good the pitches have been or how bad the hitters have been, depending on your point of view.
  17. Oh, wow, Cisnero still. Okay.
  18. Schoop really turned on that 100 MPH fastball and it was just a couple of feet of being a double down the line.
  19. No bottom lining forthcoming? No sweat, that’s fine. Not directed at anyone in particular, since I’ve seen this from multiple people on this and the prior board—but any time someone replies to a request for an explanation or clarification of a bold and alarming claim with some variation of “look it up yourself”, I immediately discount that claim, if not outright reject it.
  20. That 4-3 inning-ending double play just confirms that even though there’s a ban on fielders playing across second base, teams are still shifting fielders to play directly up the middle.
  21. I just wanna know what Tim Hogan is referring to when he says “the big one”.
  22. Luis Arraez is back up to a .400 batting average hit across his first 67 games of the season. People talking about we're gonna have a .400 hitter for the first time in 80+ years. That would be super cool. Here are some more players who hit .400 over a 67-game stretch just this century: Jose Altuve, 112 hits in 273 at bats, .410 batting average, 2017 Joey Votto, 99/240, .413, 2016 Jose Altuve, 107/264, .405, 2016 Andrew McCutchen, 102/255, .400, 2012 Josh Hamilton, 109/264, .413, 2010 Manny Ramirez, 96/240, .400, 2008 Dustin Pedroia, 117/292, .401, 2008 Chone Figgins, 112/276, .406, 2007 Ichiro Suzuki, 130/293, .444, 2004 Tood Helton, 100/250, .400, 2003 Albert Pujols, 105/255, .412, 2003 Larry Walker, 98/241, .407, 2002 Johnny Damon, 120/290, .414, 2000 Todd Helton, 96/240, .400, 2000 Nomar Garciaparra, 104/248, .419, 2000 Carlos Delgado, 96/234, .410, 2000 Todd Helton, 98/242, .405, 2000
