  1. If he doesn’t improves his instincts in the outfield, Langford might end up flipping bats with TORK! for who plays first and who DHs.
  2. Would meticulously and painstakingly restructuring the system inside and out, top to bottom, however long it takes, to build a winner be fine with you? Honest question, because I don’t see another way.
  3. Josh Harrison and J.D. Martinez are available. 😉
  4. Or they want to avoid the TORK! mistake and let these kids sufficiently develop before exposing them to major league pitching on an everyday basis.
  5. Cisnero’s topline numbers have been awesome since about late April. He’s doing the same thing he did for us last year: handily outpitch his peripherals (his walk rate is still a touch elevated at near 10% and his FIP- is 101, versus ERA- of 30, even since then). Fingers crossed he can do that for one more month and we get an actual useful asset in return.
  6. I'm sure there's a scarecrow in Toledo we can scare up to play third for us. Johan Camargo qualifies as just such a scarecrow. And once that happens, we can rake A.J. when Camargo repeatedly trips over his own ****. Looking forward to that.
  7. Or, alternatively, you throw the best guys out there you have available to you while you work behind the scenes to get better players on board, which, sad to say, isn't going to happen today, or tomorrow, or even Tuesday. How great would it be great if above-average major leaguers were available on the scrap heap.
  8. A.J. just announced that Maton has been optioned, so, there we go.
  9. Partly because teams wield their power by withholding access to punish beat people who turn out to be apostates. See Fenech, Anthony.
  10. I thought keeping Willi would have been a defensible decision, too, but as with Jeimer, when the mob is pounding down the door with their pitchforks, you tend to cave to them.
  11. It's hard to win when you don't have talent, and when an incompetent organization spends six years essentially stripping and starving its system of talent, this is what someone hired to come in and clean up gets.
  12. Fun fact time: As of this morning, Nick Maton is 22nd among 22 qualified third baseman in offensive runs and 21st in defensive runs, and 22nd in WAR by a country mile. Jeimer Candelario is 7th in offense, 2nd in defense, 3rd in WAR. And the icing on the cake: Isaac Paredes is 1st in offense,19th in defense, 4th in WAR. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=3b&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2023&month=0&season1=2023&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2023-01-01&enddate=2023-12-31&sort=22,d
  13. OK, that's that. Fire Nick Maton already.
  14. Nick Maton is a versatile player. He can lose games for you on both sides of the ball. 😏
  15. I don't think it's a nude Kate Winslet he would have wanted to drawn. Otherwise, I see what you're saying. It was super ungrammatical and I had trouble cutting through it.
  16. This is the big thing from the Trump Playbook for Right Wingers: control the narrative by breaking the unfavorable story with your spin on it. Get it out there first. It’s also what Justice allowed Trump to do when he got indicted: he announced it, and established the initial narrative.
  17. Don Biden has not visited east Liverpool impeach
  18. What is he even saying here?
  19. No one with critical thinking skills need react to this because they are not the target. It is ignorant people without critical thinking skills but have a vote who are.
  20. I would have gone with “What a bought-and-paid-for Putin stooge”, but “idiot” will suffice, I guess.
  21. It is worth using your one free article a month to read this on NYTimes.com.
  22. Of course they do—that’s why they care against getting rid of it!
  23. At least you're not asking me for investing advice, which I would be glad to provide you if your goal is to lose money!
