  1. Justyn-Henry Malloy looks like a walking, slugging beast with AAA experience. I think there’s a good chance he treads Comerica at some point next year.
  2. What is our responsibility for players picked in the minor league phase? Is it any different from signing them to a minor league contract, in terms of roster spot guarantee or anything else?
  3. One thing we don't always remember about Rule 5 picks, because we don't see it a lot: if we don't want to keep him, we can offer him back to his former team for $50,000, and worst case, release him and let him go back on the market and eat the hundred grand.
  4. Per the other thread, Mason Englert was chosen by the Tigers in the Rule V draft. Good news: he has shown that he can control the plate, and he had a sub-1 WHIP in more than 100 innings at A+ last year. Bad(?) news: He has thrown exactly 15⅓ innings above A+ ball, and like it or not, for better or for worse, he is going to be on the Tigers' 26-man roster all year long. He will get plenty of opportunities to find his footing.
  5. I think a big part of the frustration some folks have might be their need to see something different from the new guy right away, in terms of changing the big league roster, and it not happening as they watch other teams making their moves. Yes, we dumped a lot of guys off the 40 man, we got a lot of waiver churn, and we signed a pitcher who was a devil we know, and those are changes. But, rightly or wrongly, a lot of people frankly expected more than that by now. Patience is a virtue, sure, but on the other hand, fans gonna fan. I think that if Harris had by now made one signing of a guy who had never been a Tiger, or one trade for a major leaguer people have heard of, we wouldn’t be hearing much whinging about lack of movement. We may continue to hear the whinging until he does make whatever that first big move.
  6. Per the article, Biden is kiliin’ it.
  7. It was always going to be the Yankees …
  8. If nothing else changes, we could see another 100 runs and maybe 20 more batting average points per team in additional offense next year. We may also see strikeouts rise slightly as more all-or-nothing batters roam the Earth in the quest for more launch angle and more home runs. If they liven the ball back to 2019 levels as well, then Katie, bar the door.
  9. When they run a Trumpy election denier who does civil war reenactments dressed in blue.
  10. They may or may not be able to help themselves because they need to go crazy-pants to get the most extreme part of their base to show up and give them their votes. It’s kind of a quandary.
  11. That would be two fished ins on one page. At least I had company this time! Might be an MT* record.
  12. I am! And did you mean “parties”? 😉
  13. lol "NY Mets Beat Writer for The Federalist" Here's an example of this guy's stellar Twitter work: EDIT: I post this here not to get poltiical, but to question the guy's legitimacy. I mean, he might be legitimate ... I guess ... 🙄
  14. Well, Trump definitely wants to "reform the judiciary" so he can pack it with friendly judges who will tickle his sac while hammering his enemies. He couldn't give less of a shit about abortion law or any of that. The rest of the party, though, cares very deeply about abortion law, and election law, and corporate law, and anything else that will get them elected, keep them elected, and make them all wealthy and powerful beyond their wildest dreams. There are still a boatload of Dem-appointed liberal judges they would like to run off the bench and replace with hacks who graduated law from Tier 5 safety schools, a situation they covet that has nothing to do with Trump's interests, at least not directly. Get the right judges on the bench, and all of a sudden those voter fraud lawsuits are gonna start breaking their way.
  15. I would have liked us to sign Andrew Heaney for two plus one. A lot.
  16. All this proves to the red hats is what corrupted deep state cucks the judiciary are. That whole party is going to run in 2024 on reforming the judiciary. It might work.
  17. THANK you. The difference is not enough to forego the situation you really prefer for the next 11+ years just for marginally extra money. The lifestyle of someone with 342MM is practically no different from the lifestyle of someone with 300MM.
  18. I was assured that players always went where the most money was. 😏 Joking aside, Turner is an east coaster and wanted to play out there.
  19. Which they would immediately regret once she started chairing the Hunter Biden investigations. 😁
  20. I was thinking along these same lines. Given our current situation, Detroit might be a tough sell. I wouldn’t be floored if Scott Harris left San Diego without signing any major league free agents or making any trades, and that the next big move comes after the new year. We have been warned that it will be a slow process digging out of the huge hole.
  21. On his side or not, he can't be happy about her lipping off about him and his career to the media.
  22. Lots of coaching hires.
